Well done you! Don't spend it all at once...

Getting rather frustrated with our newest housemates at the moment. We have a money jar that pays for household things, and each room pays in £5 a month. A couple moved in 4 months ago, but they've not paid a penny so far, despite being asked to 4 times now (although they happily use the communal items we buy). Two of us are gradually getting more and more out of pocket, I was £6.50 out of pocket last month, and expect to be similar this month. I just don't know what to do about it. Have now resorted sticking notes in the jar saying 'U O Me £2', which sounds rather petty I know!

Updating with my figures for May. Not a good DFW month, as I booked a holiday for me and DSx3, but it's much needed, and I think I deserve one.

£201.65 paid off in May making £1638.14/£6000 for the year to date for #124
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done

When I was a student I had my own stash of the above, for that very reason :( If I had a big enough fridge in my room Id have kept everything up there. Its crap when people dont pitch in.

We used to take turns, I'd buy a 12 pack of Andrex on offer, they'd by a 4 pack of Asda own. I'd buy a 6 pint, theyd buy a 1 pint. Turns soon stopped too!
  • At Uni we all bought our own stuff, took our own washing up liquid to the kitchen, our own loo rolls to the bathroom and took turns to clean up, well me and DW (we have been together since before Uni) did our turn, the polish girl we never got her name did her turn but the two chinese blokes tried to skip there turn week in week out.

In the end my temper made them clean the full flat, and I rewarded them with a home made curry from my mum (it was so hot that it made a vindaloo look like a korma lol), we had the cooler one and they had the hot one.. should have seen them sweat :p

They never tried curry again the whole year and cleaned up regular as clockwork every 3rd week after that :rotfl:

  • As for my debts, not much has been done this week, paid the council tax which is now longer included in my 22k, the mortgage was paid and we have both agreed that my wife deserves a gym membership (off peak council run so cheap), she works really hard and has wanted a gym membership since we were made redundant 5 years ago - and it has transformed her happiness wise.
