Hi everyone, hope you've all had a pleasant Easter break.

The weather has been nice so it's been a good opportunity to get the house and garden sorted out. My 2.5yo son has his own little strawberry plants in the garden now. He loves strawberries and will enjoy them even more knowing he's grown them himself.

Managed to pay another £114.11 off my debts. It's pay day on Friday (usually the 27th but this is the weekend so pay comes early). Didn't quite make the 10% I was aiming for but never mind, it's still all progress. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    £1,088.83/£11,900 = 9.15%

    Well......

    Where do I start?

c.2009 I was nearly 17k in debt. 3rd and final LBM in August 2011 I was 14k in debt. As of yesterday I can't believe that bit of my debt's gone. Hardly any life for the latter half of my 20s and my early 30s.....

BUT NOT ANYMORE! It's very surreal. I'm not completely out of debt yet, but that bit felt like a noose around my neck for so many years. Tata!

i'm afraid to look at my bank balance until wednesday ..... eek.

decided with the extra £100 a month i will have spare once I've finished paying uni fees, i will use it to make some overpayments on my catalogue account, then when that's done use the extra to pay off the sofas early... after that, i need to think about paying off the car. don't know if i can make overpayments on the car though, think it has to be a lump sum payment!

    Hi ali bf.

A number of people on the site make overpayments to help reduce their bills. We might all do things a little different from each other though. I round down my bank account every Friday to the nearest £0 (so say I have £156.78 in the bank I will take the £6.78 and pay it off my bill). Also, I use a save the change account which is linked to my bank account and use that as overpayments. I find it's best to focus on one account at a time with the overpayments. However, I am paying off an account that has been lingering for years but doesn't have the highest interest rate, which of course would be the best one to reduce first! I just want to see the back of it so desperately though!

Good luck with your repayments and reducing your balances, this is a great place to seek help and motivation :-)

    Hey Ali BF.

I do the same as Birdseed, rounding down to the nearest £0 and that goes into one of my accounts.

I also try and think of things in %, my 1% is £53, yours would be £96, so everything goes towards debt, no matter how small. Its great when Minicooper updates as you can see that % creeping up. It gets very addictive!

I haven't got any more overpayments to make now until pay day, so for the moment my updated balance is:

    #038 £1807.21 / £4016.44

I had hoped to hit the 50% mark this month, bit disappointing but not far off though, 45% of my debts gone!

Another £17.16 overpaid today, although annoyingly I realised today that my cc company were taking my overpayments off the statemented amount due. So say they said in my statement that my next payment would be £80 and i made an overpayment of £20 they would only actually take £60..... Rather than than the original £80.

I never thought i would complain about then not taking enough but it means i have to keep track to make sure i am actually overpaying. Oh well at least i noticed.

    Sorry for the rant.

Not looking good...........however :) I have paid off my car insurance (642) and of course bought the car (after mine gav eup the ghost) - so had no spare for Jan, Feb was paying off insurance and March was tax fine thing 213 plus house expenses. I do know where the cash is going.

Have to make more effort next month tho.

Hope all is well with every one
