I rung the bank to see what the payment was for and they told me it wasn't a mistake and it was a refund of a ppi claim that went back to 2012 and that there is a letter being sent out to explain it. I checked through my bank statements and I was paid £1400 in 2012 for a ppi refund so I don't understand why they've given me more, I'm not complaining though lol. I've used it to pay off some of my credit card and my overdraft so at the moment I owe about £700 I will know the exact figure once the payments have gone through.

Made another payment to the car loan today, so now I'm at £4595.29/£10,000.

Hello minicooper, thanks for adding me :)
My debt is more than £15k so have set a target I want paid back this year, there is no way I could clear 15k in one year, think I will be on the thread for a couple of years to come! Hope this is ok?!?

I posted in a different section asking about lowering my overdraft limit and if that will trigger nationwide possibly taking it off me and showing as a new request for an OD on my credit info...

So far i have got two posts back basically telling me my OD limit isnt a spending target etc and sounding a bit judgemental...

I only wanted the advise so i could lower it a bit so i have some as an emergency but im not going to be tempted to spend it :( It was only a thought i had to help me and see if it was viable.. but I just got abit of a lecture..

even though i said in my original post im trying to get out of debt and how ive done so far etc...

sorry rant over... but does anyone else have this issue with people on here!

Also does anyone know the answer to my queries :)

Surely wanting to lower your overdraft is a good thing - how can anyone be judgemental about that?!

I've just lowered mine, but I'm with HSBC. It was as simple as logging into my internet banking and typing in the number I wanted it lowered to. Voila, done. Not sure what Nationwide's online banking service is like but it's certainly worth having a look.

As far as I'm aware, I don't think it would count as a new credit request as it's simply a small change to an existing service. The same way as lowering the available balance on a credit card doesn't then count as a whole new credit card.

Take a look at your online banking (if you have it), if not give the bank a quick ring. It should be an easy thing to sort out! x

Thanks Mini Cooper. You are correct with that number, paid £800 so far so thats 18.9% which feels like a good start :)
