  • CC payment made and savings account updated :)
    CC: 200
New Balance: -£5,261.64 (interest deduction to come as well £132.60 DD)
    Visa Savings Update: £4,201.24

    @ trying hard congratulations :)

    Money Saving Tip 2:
Coffee! If you guys are anything like me the need for a daily coffee is very important if not vital! ^^

I used to buy in Starbuck and Nero happily paying anything from £2.50 - 6 a time sometimes 5 times a week! ( Coffee and sometimes a treat)

I now bring my own treats from home and have found a local coffee shop that sells a fantastic Americano for £1.30! :) new total: £26

I decided to try and push this a little further by starting a coffee club in work, I now pay £5.40 on Wed and get coffee delivered to my desk on Mon,Thur and Friday for free ;)

New cost £21.6 and free delivery 3 times a week.

Finally after 8 long years we have paid off our debts totalling £52,500. Received mail from Stepchange confirming that we are debt free. Can't stop crying at the moment and so relieved :D

For everyone that is still going through it, you will pay it off, every little bit that you can pay helps get nearer your goal. Without this thread and another very important thread that I joined 4 or more years ago and made lifelong friends from, we couldn't have done it.

Through it all, I haven't had a job that pays regularly and I am so looking forward, now DD is nearly mobile with her car, to getting a full time job and saving. Yes saving, us that have never been able to save for the past 20 years! Looking forward to having a few days holiday for the first time in 6 years.

Good luck everyone in your journey xxxx

    027 paid £2,500

That's absolutely amazing. Well done. What an achievement.

I could cry for you too :D

I hope you enjoy a very bright future :D:beer::j:T

    May I join too please?

I'm Irish but have been living in the UK for nearly four years. I moved here debt-free with a few grand in savings, but due to rent deposits, not having a job for a while when I first moved, and living the London life I amassed a bit of credit card debt, which I've since been chipping away at. Last year it went up a bit again because I had three weddings to go to, two of which I was a bridesmaid, so there was a lot of extra expense, many flights home (and one to Turkey for one of the weddings!).

This year I want to get that CC balance down to zero and start saving again. My current debt is €1,936.71 (about £1,595)

I've been reading back a few pages and it's nice to see the encouragement everyone gives each other, so I think it'll help me too! :D
Hiyas can I join in with your challenge please I owe small amounts on 2 cards and a store card but all are growing monthly due to interest so something has to be done NOW!!

I owe£3240 and would love to get this lot cleared off before the end of the year, Christmas is covered by Park hampers plus commission I will have back so got nothing else to make excuses for apart from normal costs of 7 Year olds clothes and shoes etc, hubby and I can make do!!

    Welcome :D

Minicooper will be along to give you a number shortly.

You are in the right place to make a big dent in the debts :D

    Hi all

some direct debits have come out today consisting of:

£50 - big bad loan debt
    £111.25 - education loan
£55 - Bank Charges!! Grrrr payments came out nearly 2 weeks after I used my card and so I assumed it had been taken! Stupid me - lesson learnt.. I need to really keep an eye on my in/out on a weekly basis, just forgot as I was away!
    = £216.25

    DDx
    Started again 25th December 2017
    Current tracking - £7,955.84/ £18,282.25 to pay off. (31.12.19)
  • Another £40 comes off the credit card tomorrow. Small steps but it makes a huge difference.

Exciting news for tryinghard! What an amazing achievement :T Enjoy every moment, and make sure you save for something amazing first of all! Bear with me, I need to dig out the debt free roll of honour...

kickuptheasstime - it's not nothing, it's £50 you might not have paid otherwise. Plus you have invested your time in getting 0% cards, which will save you a lot of money in the long term.

    - sorry to hear about one of your jobs going! Will you be looking for something to fill its place?

Toomuchdebt you're number 165 - thanks for your patience! I'll take updates whenever you want, I don't really mind. I'd rather you paid something off than stored it up to pay later and accidentily spend it!

Koalatea84 welcome, you're number 166! I can't seem to get my spreadsheet to do €, but will just enter the amount you owe in euro's - don't worry about converting it. The percentage will still show up right!

DragonsnDaffs welcome, you're number 167 - good luck!

    - I'm a little tired, so sorry but finding it hard to figure out how much you've paid off. Can you let me know the total paid off rather than the amount remaining?

If your number 4 key has both the $ and € signs, then it's ctrl-alt-4 to make the € symbol.
