Re adoption.. go for it!! My friend is just at the 'choosing a child' stage.. she has her eye on one and is waiting for a few others info to be passed on to her.. though sadly most come with issues.. drug and alcohol ones mostly.. and a lot have disabilities.. but while it isn't an easy process and there seems to be a lot of self analysis going on.. it all seems pretty straight forward if you have no ongoing issues or criminal activity and it is worth trying given the number of children who just need someone to love them

It seems quite surreal! My first colleague and her husband were offered a number of children before they ended up with the two they have (they got young siblings in the end) and it was made easier for them by not knowing if they were 1, 2 or 3 in the chain of parent 'options' for the child.

No health problems and no criminal past, but I think my own childhood and family background is probably going to be pulled apart so that might be tricky, but my friend who is a social worker, suggested it might go in my favour, as long as I'm not all chewed up inside about it, which I don't think I am! And if I am...I would actually really appreciate some interrogation to address that!! I think what worries me is why and how the children have been removed from their families. I know that there's extreme cases, but when I hear my social worker friend talk about some of the circumstances in which she has removed children from their families, I can't help but feel that something more could have been done to get them back together. It's why I've only briefly chatted to her about it. But she assures me (with great sadness) that some people just don't change and their children remain at risk, which obviously isn't acceptable. My other colleague adopted three older siblings and has had lots of problems with their birth father. She says once you have the kids, social workers disappear and they've had no help with what sound like pretty awful situations. Which is pretty much my experience of social workers with mum! Lots of thinking to do, for now I'm reading anything and everything on it!

b_e_g Thinking of you & yours at this difficult time.
A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

His missus I'm so sorry for your loss. Please remember we're all thinking of you and we're here if you need us.

B_e_g Wishing you and your family strength at this difficult time. I'm sure we'll all understand if you don't feel like posting, but you know where to find us if you want.

junior-j Can't you speak to your GP again and demand that they refer you? Don't give them the option to say no if at all possible. Otherwise definitely follow the suggestion to get a second opinion, it's your right.

    Have done todays challenges :)

Worrying can be helpful when it spurs you to take action and solve a problem. But if you are pre-occupied with 'what-ifs' and worst case scenarios, worry becomes a problem. Unrelenting doubts and fears can be paralysing. They can sap your emotional energy, send your anxiety levels soaring, and interfere with your daily life. But chronic worrying is a mental habit that can be broken. You can train your brain to stay calm and look at life from a more positive perspective.

    1. Complete the daily sudoku challenge
    2. Walk route 1 (400metres)
    3. Make your own face mask
    4. Do some washing up by hand instead of using the dishwasher

    Hi all!

Just a quick, rather sad note from me. Dad died last Wednesday evening.

Thank you to those of you who always asked how he was xxx
Sorry to hear your sad news. Take time to heal xxx
In a bit of a sad situation here too i'm afraid. :(

DH's neice is critically ill in hospital and has very little chance of pulling through. Her organs are starting to shut down. Family have been sent for today and we are just waiting by the phone. Every time phone rings we are just looking at each other and taking a deep breath.

Haven't really felt like posting for last couple of days

    Xmas Saver!
    b-e-g sending hugs.

I am sitting here on my own laughing. Just saw a quote about hoes and nuts and it reminded me of some ds once said.

We were walking down a row of shops while on holiday and ds asked me what a hoe was. He was about 14. I told him they were for digging up gardens. He said ' No there must be another type. It not gardening' So I told him they were women that slept with a lot of men and he should stay away from them.
He then stopped and said, ' Blo0dy hell, there's a shop full of them over there, let's go the other way ! '
When I looked, it was a shoe shop that had lost it's S. :rotfl:
  • b_e_g so sprry for your news too. Sending love and hugs to you all xx
