I need a little help please. My DS has been told he needs to dress as his favourite book character on Friday for school. He wants to dress as Sir Charlie Stinky Socks! Has anybody seen anything in the shops that could be used to make a costume? Sorry I still can't post links but if you google the name the books come up. Any help would be much appreciated. :)

I don't know much about the character personally, but after a bit of research the only thing I could think of would be a large long-sleeved adults tshirt or shirt-dress in grey, with a large blue adult shirt on top, with a belt round the waist. Maybe primark might be worth a look? I googled 'pink stripey tights' and there's some options there too, but it would depend on how far your DS is willing to take the characterisation, as they are definitely girly tights!

Actually our local tesco isn't too bad. Although they do like to do 'random checks' on my shopping when I do self scan and pack it away all neatly in my bag. Morrisons isn't really local for me and when I have made a special trip to get something, they are always oos anyway, so now I don't bother.
Sainsburys always seems to go wrong for me. Self service tills there hate me and NEVER work. And Asda...well, I won't even go there. Chav central in the one closest to here. Oh to be rich and able to afford to shop in Waitrose or Fortnum & Mason!

Just spent half an hour with the cat asleep on hubby's lap, paw stretched onto my leg, so I was stroking her paw. Don't think she's ever let me do that for so long before. :) She's finally moved off, so we can cook tea. Was starting to feel hungry and the chocolate coins were in reach, so probably better we had proper food.

LOL, must be something about Asda's the one near us my girls have renamed chavsda.

i actually like morrys, we always use the same checkout and the guy on it is brill - he always has a queue because his regulars would sooner wait for him than use another till and it take longer anyway.

It's funny you should mention being checked at the scan-as-you-shop tills. I've only used them once and got checked, which made me feel like they thought I was nicking stuff, and it put me off a bit. The very first time I tried to use them, I'd got 10 chocolate oranges because they were on a 1p glitch, and they were definitely showing as 1p on the scanner, but when I plugged the thing into the till, they reverted to full price, £2.75 each! I was horrified and had to pretend I'd forgotten something so I could secretly go and put them all back! It did make me wonder about the accuracy of the prices on those scanners too, so I'm wary of using them now.

Thanks Nana for being excited for our move. I had a meltdown at the weekend where I just felt so sick with stress. Our garage is leaking and I have to have the house immaculate for Monday as they are coming to measure up the rooms and then we will have the home report done before it goes on the market the third week in Feb.
We decided to go up the A9 to see the land today and I feel so excited again. It was a beautiful day and we stopped at Embo beach to run the dog. It was a beautiful day and we were the only three on the beach. It was brill and I have my mojo back!
We went to SW first and I was pleased only to have put on a half pound over New Year so that is two and a half over the festive period. I usually put on about 5-7 so a result.
I felt so sorry for the little boy who cried when the decorations went away poor wee soul. Time seems so much longer at that age. I have to say coming back in the dark we saw loads of lights still on. When I commented that it was bad luck Mr Marco said who said they have to come down is it the law!!!!!!!
Speak to you all soon. x

I'd say a grey mans shirt on backwards, with sleeveless patterned blouse on over the top and a belt.
Then maybe red tights or leggings with wellies. In most of the pictures the legs are striped but I found one with plain legs.

If he won't go for the blouse, get a rectangle of patterned material, fold to make a square, then cut it up the middle to the seem.
The square bit goes at the back and the bit cut in 2 goes at the front. Secure with the belt.

If that doesn't make sense let me know and I will take a pic of my pashmina shawl. It's the same design.

  • Evening all. Sorry not been on much haven't been well and not really felt up to keeping up to date. Have scan read posts so hugs to those that need it, support for those on a diet (in doing My Fitnes Pal myself!) And YAY to those with something to celebrate.:p

    Had a cr*ppy day today.
Children went back to school and I went back to thw Drs for more antibiotics. My 3rd lot in 4 weeks!
Its never a good time of year as it would be my son Jacks 10th birthday on Sunday which makes us all feel really low, (understatement). Planning on spending the day doing something fun with Dd and Ds. Also have a luxury afternoon tea booked for Saturday which will be nice, a 40th birthday present from last year.
Also was Dd's b'day last sunday and shes just opened 2 Sylvanian families sets she got and they've both got bits missing. Now need to make 2 separate trips to different towns to exchange them

just to top it off my iron blew up today, had to put it outside in the rain to stop it smoking:eek: can anyone recommend a cheap steam iron.

On the plus side have got a few bits for next Christmas and discovered the candy canes I bought and never used don't go out of date till 2015. Off to Lakeside tomorrow to see if anything left in the sales.

Hugs for you BloomingTasty, its obviously a very difficult time for you and your family, i do hope Satuday is filled with as many happy family moments as you can cram into it.

sorry to hear about your iron, i bought a cheap one rom sains a few years ago it worked well (till i dropped it) ive got a morphy richards one at the mo but it was a gift so dont know what it cost.

hassle swapping the sylvanian bits i know but i hope your DD gets what she needs once the sets are complete, i'd be tempted to ring first and explain whats happened to make sure they have what you want.

  • Cr*ppy day - heard that a colleague and friend died yesterday. She was only 49 so was a shock. Am still in disbelief.
Went back to SW tonight, haven't been since Nov but had only put on 1.5lb which as I've eaten and drunk all that I've wanted since then I was not unhappy with. Am determined to lose it by the summer but tend to only lose 1 lb a week.....
Had run in with eldest dd who is not helping around the house at all despite me asking. Told her tonight I am disappointed with her.
Have decided on a new motto - don't put off til tomorrow what you can do today. Hugs to all who need them
