  • Whenever I see a stag related item I always think 'I must tell OMO' but then I remember she's still MIA :( We really miss you! xxx

Still no brown paper :( Oh well, DH is taking me to Lakeland tomorrow to pick Christmas presents and then we will officially start the wrapping! (I have a small amount of brown paper from packing business orders).

Christmas is well and truly ingrained in my brain, I spent a good 20 minutes last night tossing and turning, mentally designing the gift box for my secret santa present :rotfl:

It initially feels painful, but when you consider I got 4 sirloin steaks, 12 huge (talk minimum twice size of supermarket) chicken fillets, 9 lamb loin chops & about 16 chicken thighs for £44, factor in the excellent quality and the meat being very tender, it is good value. Plus when you include that they need to be portioned out, takes up less space in freezer than having supermarket packets which I just bung in freezer rather than emptying into freezer bags.

I echo gettingthereuickly, the quality of the meat from Costco is hard to beat, even from the local butcher. The size of the packs & cost that goes with buying meat that size can be off putting but once portioned up it is very cost effective. I buy a tray of 25 chicken thighs for around £8. I then split it into 4 so get 6 large portions at just over a pound & 30p per portion. They also do 2 whole free range chickens for £7. These would probably be classed as large in a supermarket. I have bought their triple packs of gammon over the year & will be buying a large one for Christmas. Compared to last years price at Morries of £23 for a 1.6kg unsmoked, I saw last week Costco are doing them for £17 ish & they def taste better.

I love Costco and now and again tag along with my mum & dad (as they have a card) or send requests for items :rotfl: but have not been for a while. The nearest one to us is about 30/40 minutes drive away so I have to make a special journey to go unless I time it in with something else that way, whereas my mum works over there so they norm tie it in with that or go for a tootle on there day off (both work shifts). I haven't had any meat from there in a while but I am seriously considering going and just getting bits from our local butcher..hmmm:think: I like doing the rounds tasting, then sneaking back in for a second try on the really nice ones :o:)I keep meaning to price up the supersize shampoo & conditioner tubs from there to see if I could save on them. - my brain is now adding to a list what I want to check at costco now :rotfl::doh:
So excited to begin getting all the Christmas items down, I might start today so come Monday I am fully ready to go, plus will give me chance to have a good hoover/clean in the spare room where it's all kept. Will be posting some cards out today so they have them for 1st :santa2:

OK enough rambling from me, hugs to everyone and have a good day :)
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY oh see when you put it like that i can see the value i will have to have a really good look at all of it next time, work out prices and portions and then what i am paying at the supermarket which isnt the best quality, i have to admit i have never really worked it out i just see like the price and think ouch, you dont see me doing it round the bakery bit though :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well jell, if mine were 10 mins away I'd be there weekly, as it is we co-ordinate going when toilet roll etc runs out, it's about a 50 min drive for us with decent traffic so no time to go more often.
