  • Made a start on the finishing touch's of the stockings today. It's put me in a really good mood as I think it's one of my favourite parts of the preparations. The stockings are loosely based on american 'holiday' theme/colours, red, greens & white as it just say's Christmas to me... I love how the Americans do Christmas.
    DDs (8&11) have each:
Rainbow coloured hairbands, a candy cane lip balm, a metal loom band tool, a giant Christmas pencil, chocolate coins, a tube of love hearts in Christmas design, a malteaser reindeer, a giant candy cane, a giant multicoloured twist lolly, pack of red, green & white jelly beans, chocolate orange & a teddy to sit on the top.
    Still to get:
Giant round lolly in red, white & green, hoping to find a Christmas PEZ, socks/gloves, a small waving cat, highlighters/markers/pens & a snowglobe.

I hope you don't mind me posting what I have so far & what I intend to get, just hoping it may give others some ideas.

I follow this lady on YT & here's her stocking stuffer guide

MRSCHRISTMAS can i ask where you found the pack of red, green jelly beans please?

princesskitty29 - never too early to start the Christmas traditions. We had a santa please stop here sign for as long as I can remember, my grandad used to sneak round and put it at the top of our drive after we had gone to bed a week or so before Christmas. Never too late to stop with them either ;) Santa still gets a mince pie and a glass of whiskey, funny how he has his whiskey the exact same way as dad does ;) haha !

springdreams - my aunt was born with her front 2 teeth! The thought of a teeny tiny new born with teeth freaks me out a little bit!! lol.

MrsChristmas - those Chinese luck arm waving cats, always remind me of high school my geography and form tutor had one in his room on top of a cabinet right in front of where I sat, always felt like it was trying to put me into a trace!! Lucky he was one of my favourite teachers or I would never have got any work done!!

:rotfl: :T that amused me far more than it should have... you know when something just tickles you :T :rotfl:

nic2075 - we have a fair few outside lights...... a rope light santa and reindeers on a bush/tree in the middle of the roundabout, and a free standing sleigh and reindeer by the front door. Icicles around the eaves my end of the house and round across the front door. We also put lights across from the house and wound them up and around the lamp post and lamp on the roundabout too last year looked really pretty! Then we have a few around the back of the house and in the garden so we can actually see some from the house rather than just when coming and going :)
We don't live on a street so there is actually only us and visitors to see our lights :(

we do live in a bungalow, and my dads a boat electrician so waterproof electrics is his area of expertise lol.
Oooh also... you can get solar powered lights! They aren't amazingly bright but they do the job and add a twinkle, my nanny had some :)

pigpen - teenage books are my speciality! I'm a massive geek who at 25 still reads them :P ... and has over 700 books :o! Though a lot in my collection do have vampires, or some weird supernatural of some sort... What kind of things do they like? I also find that sort of age adult books that are teenage friendly, are a great way to go, they make you feel super grown up, though I went backwards too the young adult stuff soon after.... :A

Now while not totally Christmas related but one of you might be able to help... You know the thin brown or white tissue paper they use to wrap fragile things in shops when you buy them does anyone know where I could get my hands on some? And cheap paper bags, you know like the ones they use in old style sweet shops....
I'm taking my painted stuff to a Avon Christmas party thing next week and I'm being hopeful that I might sell something!

My business cards finally came yesterday morning :) After a scare because the weekend yodel man can't find out house, luckily the weekday one can!
I'm still getting a bit stressed about getting everything done though, the cheese platter is giving me a right headache, I'm a bit of a perfectionist :( and unfortunately I can wipe this stuff off and start again so it keeps happening :(
    x

PIXTOTTS dont know if you are a member of Costco but they always used to do thick piles of white tissue paper near christmas hth

Oooo I forgot to share with you all my mini treat from last Friday - I bought the small Yankee candle Christmas variety. I wasn't overly impressed with the 1st. Put it in my posh Christmas red lantern (I think it was Christmas Candy?) It had no smell and it burnt out within 4 hours (supposed to last 15). I currently have an apple one on the go and it's much better :)

I am very tempted to treat myself to the advent calendar now!

I have a wax advent coming from candlewick greens, but that's wax tarts so might not be what you are after. But everything from her has a super good strong lasting scent.

I'm not in work til one but it was not a good night in my house last night so minimal sleep, I must wake mum shortly or her sugars will be out of wack and she'll be a bear with a sore head.

Love and hugs to all xxx

Just running in to say that Avon have a special on bath bubbles (500ml), if you buy 4 of those in the offer at £4 each, you get them for £5. There may be a delivery of £3.50 to factor in, but if doing a pamper hamper, it may be worth considering.

Same offer was in recent book that most can order from, so if don't already have a rep use find a rep on the website and get free delivery ;)

springdreams - Haha yes breast feeding a baby with teeth does not sound good! lol. Thankyou :) x

freespirit66 - Sadly not a member of costco, but will keep an ear out for someone who is ;)

    Yes of course, sure :xmassmile

    I brought these tubes
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jelly-Bean-Santa-Sleigh-Tube/dp/B00F44FTA8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413965477&sr=8-1&keywords=christmas+jelly+beans
from WHSmith only they were 2 for £2. They also had a snowman & Rudolph version.
The candy cane lip balms (£2 each) were from Claires in a 3 for 2. They also had yule chocolate log & Christmas dinner:eek: flavour.
The malteaser reindeers were from Superdrug 2 £1 & 3 for 2 on chocolate coins in Sainsbugs.
My £1land in Chippenham had Rimmel nail varnish & some So! products also.... HTH's someone.

I recorded & watched Meet the Santa's with Steve Guttenburg last night whilst ebaying some of my old candles.
I'm hoping to make enough to buy the new large Yankee candle Christmas scents. Not sure I'll bother with Candy Cane lane though Feisty! The Icicle one looks nice/Angel wings... has anyone tried/tested these?
Think I'm going to use one as a centrepeice on the table & in the bay window with a wreath around the bottom.
Campus Gifts have 25% off of all there yankee products including the new Christmas products (excluding gift sets)

    Debt-free and Proud!
Thanks Mrs Christmas for the heads up on the jelly beans at WHSmiths, may have a look in town today.

Hubby was out at footy last night so I watched Nativity. Sis texted me to ask what it was on and was miffed it was on DVD and not TV. Hmmm...think I know what to get sis for her birthday now ;)

I was disappointed with the candy cane one too, no scent at all whilst burning. Christmas eve remains my favorite, even just one votive has the whole room smelling beautiful within minutes.

Mrschristmas - thanks for the jellybean link, get some for dhs stocking every year!

DH has proposed a complete technology ban next week (excluding tv!) whilst away! I have agreed that it will do us all good, and so we won't even have our phones with us! Dd1 isn't going to be impressed, but we will take board games, cards, and I'm going to pick up some puzzle books.

I'm putting on a brave face, but to be fair, a whole week without you lot, Pinterest , you tube etc scares the life out of me!

Picked up the reindeer & book set from card factory, and a couple of other elf props, including little knitted hand warmers which I will use as elf hot water bottles, and some magic reindeer dust for Xmas eve hamper.
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.

    Afternoon Christmas Elves :santa2:
I had today off work and although I didn't get up as early as normal I was up by 8.30. I had my hair trimmed, dropped a few items in at the CS, picked up another personal crimbo card for my Grandad, got a couple of Radox bath items from 99p store for my Mum, managed to get all the bird-related items from the garden centre for Grandparents for xmas gifts. Also did a drop in to the big chicken retailer (basically they pack chicken for supermarkets and then there are always over orders ect so they sell it off cheap & you have to freeze it on that day; today I got £30 worth of chicken for £15 :D)
Managed to get two loads of washing done and hung around the radiators, cleaned through the whole house and now I have just enjoyed a cup of tea whilst catching up on the thread...phewwww!!
Running with a friend at 5.15, but hoping to get tea prepped and possibly squeeze in a few Christmas card writing - but I'll see :p
cav well done on the compo pennies
feisty thanks for the warning, I liked the smell of candycane in the store and was possibly going to purchase but I will re-consider now!
mrschristmas I follow the same person on youtube too, she has some fab ideas. That is a video I had not spotted though so thank you :-)

I am hoping our missing elves are all OK - JJ, Nan & OMO

Right, time to chop some chips for tea :)
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

We did this when we went away in June, although it was mainly to stop me working ;) We both took DS/PSP along and mainly just read and watched TV, it was divine! I am off next week and very tempted to do the same, even though we are staying at home. DH will be so cross with me if I end up working, but I just get bored, or stressed about everything that will have to be done when staycation is over :rotfl:

Thanks for the link Mrs Christmas! I'm supposed to be working still, but as you can see I've popped in to spend some R&R with my Christmas elves :D
