I don't' have any power outlets externally so am unable to decorate but would love to go all out. I do all the windows in doors so you get some effect but maybe in a few years when we move I'll ask OH to rig an outlet & turn my house into a charity Christmas house like a guy does locally, he raises money every year for children's charities.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

I edited because I had other things to say which were relevant.. I didn't do another post because that is thread clutter.. And you don't need to get defensive because you have a differing view to others which is actually the same but you can't see that.. We are both, as far as I can tell, saying these are my experiences and that it is all normal and you roll with it.. unless you are saying something else and I'm misinterpreting?

I never said you did say I was a fruitcake.. I was jumping the gun and combating that before it was raised. :p

ALL experiences are helpful because it makes it utterly clear that our children are all different as are we.

I didn't take it personally, just I think you are wrong with many of the things you put as you did others.. and your opinion is not the only valid one.

And FTR yes there are rights and wrongs when it comes to raising your child.. unless you are actually condoning child abuse, over feeding, underfeeding for example.. in which case your opinion becomes irrelevant.

And I'll probably edit this one too.. I usually edit posts several times to add or change bits.. I LOVE the edit feature!

    see... editing.

Parents do lie and exaggerate.. their experience has to either be the worst or the best and they have to over emphasise little things amazing talents. The truth usually comes out in time and is sometimes quite amusing to watch.

Can I ask who all decorates the outside of their house at Christmas? I have never done it and would like to this year. Just some lights along the garage roof guttering (attached to the house) and maybe a free standing reindeer or a Santa climbing a ladder light. I always worried about the extra cost of electricity and how easy it is to link it all up. But I love seeing a few lights outside as you drive along.
The inside of my house is like Santas grotto, but not too many lights. Just the tree and wrapped round the bannister.

We bought some outdoor lights last year and im hoping to get them up Dec 1st, it's easier for us we are in a Bungalow.

We have a socket in the garage, I think there is space for a cable to still go under the door when it's closed.
The garage height would be as high as I would go. It it's next to the front door, so lights could go across the garage front and my door. But have no clue on the amount of lights I would need.

I forgot I had a light up star and Santa sleighs I had in the front windows last year. My house is back to front, only the upper 2 bedrooms and the front door with a long side window are at the street. Our living room is at the back of the house which faces fields. So I feel all decorations are at the back and need more at the front to greet me as I come in the street or others :D

You decided to jump all over a simple post that said, for the hard of hearing, that you have to do what suits your child & that passing off opinion as fact is not helpful. At no point have I stated my view to be the only one or that it is the right way, I left that to you. I haven't become defensive, I have no need. I've not gone off on a rant (later edited) stated anything as fact nor accused other parents of being neglectful, condoning of abuse or being liars. You are unable to say the same.

    You over reacted.

  • Well, what a morning but.....everything is now wrapped!!! I just need 3 more cracker fillers and a bone for Ted but that will be closer to the day. Now I can sit back and enjoy reading all the chatter. Never been ready quite this early before but I'm going to save over the next few months and definitely NOT using the net on Black Friday
