Another one here who was really disappointed in the QVC Christmas shows. IMO it was just an excuse to get rid of stuff they couldn't sell, and they still haven't sold. It seems they think if it has the word Christmas in it we'll all go running to buy it.

I remember when they had lovely Carousels on, and all the proper Christmasy things on the shows. But TBH this past few years, even in the run up to Christmas there's not as much now.

I did excited when Mr Christmas (Dexter) was on QVC though during the christmas shows. But a bit disappointed when he was selling umbrellas.

hanley your welcome glad to help. what sizes/genders are your looking for pjs? primark had quite a few disney onesies for £3/£5 but only small sizes got taz a lovely fleece iron man one. they do have quite a good selection full price and asda also have new ranges online. sains are doing 25% off clothing

I haven't had chance to get to Primark yet but it is on my list for the pjs as I've had a few pairs from there and they've been great. I'm looking for all sizes really, there are 14 children (that's just main family) the youngest is due at the end of October and the eldest is 19. I know 19 is technically not a child age but she has down syndrome and therefore is not your typical teenager if you know what I mean.

    The boys ages are 2 months, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11

    The girls ages are 2, 4, 8, 12, 15 and 19

Thanks for any help. It is all much appreciated. :D

~Brrrrrrrr~ certainly noticed a drop in the temperatures this morning... ..... winter is on it's way, which means Christmas must be too :T

Funny you should say that this appeared on my facebook newsfeed...

freespirit66 - There is just something in the scent of Yankee candles that always seem a bit off to me I think I'm just fussy though. Last Christmas I was determined to find a Christmas tree smelling candle, I smelt every candle I saw, I had high hopes for the Yankee candles but they failed the test, the only one that smelt tree like enough was a Sainsburys one :) . Though being a supermarket jobby it didn't burn very well (the jar it was in was much too wide for 1 wick) so now I need to melt down all the remains and try turn it into a candle that will burn again...

freespirit66&princesskitty29 - Sadly I did have to start the Job application again :( it's always much easier to do the second time having already done the tough thinking what to say parts though so it wasn't too bad to do again :) all don now :)

Flowfy - Thanks for the cat food recipe :)

junior_j - Sorry to hear you've been poorly again. I'd wish you luck with your hospital appointment but you'll need it more with trying to use windows 8 :P . Why have windows tried to fix something that isn't broken!! My Dad has it on his laptop, he's a bit of a technophob anyway so tag windows 8 onto that and it's a nightmare! lol.

springdreams - thanks for the 8.1 tip :)

Today I am attempting to brave the task of tidying :/

    Hi all,
I have not been on here since feb 2014 due to spinal operations and complications. Feeling alot better now and am making good progress with the nerve damage in my leg. I love christmas and love this time off year now. Get the kids back to school then I can get a proper look at my stashes of jan sale stuff and get my lists sorted out.
Have got started on some presents for my daughter
http://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/fashion-dolls/c-489/dolls/p-4378/baby-alive-my-baby-alive/ got her this doll as she REALLY wanted it and at this price it was rude not too.
She also wanted some toy kitchen appliances so morrisons had a kettle reduced to £2.50 and entertainer had atoy electric mixer and bowl reduced to £4.She really wants the animagic rescue ambulance and thats £30 at the minute.
Wilkinsons have some dolls clothes for up to 45cm reduced starting from £2! Also sainsburys had a sale of board games so I got her my first scrabble set for just over £5 too.
Also got these for my sister and step sister
    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerm/cosmopolitan.htm
Going to get them a cosmopolitan mag or book that teaches makeup to go with it x It has had poor reviews on argos but seems worth it for £5!
Christmas cards are out in shops now so it means its getting close! whoop whoop!!

Glad to hear you're feeling better...just in time for Christmas!!:rotfl:

You've managed to pick up some excellent bargains there, I'm hoping this will be my last year not having to buy for children!

Has anybody seen the new(ish) Jane Asher range in £land?
My mum is an avid baker and always asks for baking stuff for crimbo (last year she got a rolling pin!) and I know she'd love the range of stuff they have, and it's usually quite good quality.

I was thinking of spending a tenner and buy her loads of matching stuff and it means she will get lots of presents - I love buying her loads. When I was a kid we didn't have much money but she always made sure we had amazing christmases so now I'm an adult with my own money I think she deserves to be spoiled!

Been bagging up my loose change and so far got about £20 towards the Xmas Booze Fund - I would buy in advance for this but leaving unopened beer near my OH is like leaving food near me!

The Jane Asher range is fab and is worth alot more than the pound. It would make a fantastic present especially if she enjoys baking. Love the quote about opened booze near the other half. exactly the same reason I havent bought booze yet. Oh and cant buy any choccies or good stuff as I will eat it all lol x

all for the smashing total of £9.95, including postage!
I've missed this, where are you all getting these from?
I'm being very very VERY good and telling myself I DO NOT NEED the Mighty Ducks DVD's.......... However it is on my wishlist to keep in mind for future buying:o
£5.40 for the 3, it was practically a steal!

  • Is anyone else getting frustrated that there isn't any Christmas stock in the shops yet?!

Luckily there are craft items in stock already so I can buy them BUT I really don't need that stuff! I treated myself to some Stampin Up things this week, I've wanted them for a while and now was the time.

Yesterday in HB I bought some tissues and glasses wipes for Husband's stocking, and I've ordered us new stockings from a lady who makes them (the dog has one of hers but we don't, so I've rectified that this year!) as well as a crate for one of the hampers.

    I'm champing at the bit....

Yes I think that QVCs Christmas in July could have been well, more Christmassy really PRINCESSKITTY!
It felt like it lacked a bit of quality too... although there was a yankee candle show, they weren't all Christmas flavours... Flavours? Scents?!
I'd have preferred to have been shown previews of what we could look forward too or what was only available in America as they sometimes do, with an opportunity to pre order. I'd also have liked to have seen accessories like the lampshades & plates & tea light holders (I have most of the gingerbread man collection in my kitchen & it's kind of become a theme in there now. Even have a gingerbread man soft toy from Shrek lodged on the dresser courtesy of a child's keen eye at a car boot!)
Also, whilst the gift bags & boxes were good I'd liked to have seen plain old rolls of wrap!! A selection of themes to suit everyone, maybe matching cards & stationary?
Personally, I'd have liked a more American reds, greens & whites, candy canes & 'happy holidays' theme because that's my favourite.
Anyway, enough moaning... Maybe the producers at QVC will see this & want to employ me next year to transform the show?!!:rotfl:
Got to better than housework which is what I'm supposed to be doing now!...

...Sat down this time yesterday & watched Planes, Trains & Automobiles.
Love that film & love, love, love Steve Martin x

I am totally in agreement with you on this one mrschristmas!! both the american theme and re QVC! We should put you forward for next years :D:rotfl:

JJ - sorry to read you have not been well, I really hope it all goes OK for you at your London appointment, I will be keeping everything crossed for you.
lulu - I think that's lovely of you with your mum :)
lolalemon - snow in August :D I live reasonably high up but I don't think it will reach down to us...hopefully! I love the snow, but not just yet!

Not much to report here, hopefully by Monday basically everything I have ordered should have arrived (accept for the Minions calendar for my brother which will take up to a month!)
Cold again here today, Autumn really is sweeping in now.
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:
