I have been reading but haven't posted for a couple of days.
Nan - Sending fattening vibes, fingers crossed for a trip home in the near future. Send my thoughts to feisty and DH!!
Ironing club sounds not a bad idea, provided there is good TV on and coffee & cake after I might manage :rotfl:Did my ironing with my foldey thing and it was quite fun :o
OMO - Well done your CV pot is topping up fast!
JJ - Good news of your referall!!
Pixtotts - Here's to a productive time for you  as I can't make the days longer :p Good luck with all the selling & raising more money!
My brother is possibly also in search of a car as he wrote his off last night, he is fine was just a little shook up I think, although a good friend of my parents who has a garage said he might be able to get parts & fix it so we will see.
MrsM - Glad to hear you had a nice weekend :) Well done on the pub quiz and the meal voucher.

Not much else to update on the Christmas side, made another scarf yesterday and 1/2 way through Mum's headband - didn't get chance to sort them out much yet, will try to sort fathers day and birthday presents out before this weekend though.
We are off to Harrogate on Saturday with my MIL & FIL as there is a show on that my OH and his dad are going to whilst me and his mum go shopping - won't be very old style I am afraid, although I am not planning to buy too much.
Me and OH are stopping the night and then will have the day in Harrogate Sunday which will be nice
Had a lovely weekend pottering around, going out and about and relaxing together at home :grinheart:kisses3:

  • I'm back!:j

Seriously, apologies for being MIA, been a busy couple of months and time has gone so quickly that I have not had a chance to have a catch up, so sat down yesterday and read the last 20 pages. I may in time manage to read older ones, but this will be my fix for now.

For those whose news I can remember:

JJ - wonderful news on the referral, hope the hair is growing back nicely, how much did you raise in the end?

Feisty - had been thinking while reading that you were very quiet, then saw the update - hope you are both doing as well as you can and from there go from strength to strength, consider yourselves to be L'Oreal :D

Nana- glad all well with bubs

OMO - what a great plan for Mia, she clearly trusts you and it would be a huge shame if her doggie brain can't understand that something she greatly mistrusts can be a good and happy event. On the camping side, I was in Poundworld the other evening and saw that they have collapsible water containers, are they any good? Was thinking of getting one or two for my mum so that she can have them for the winter..

For those I have missed, I'm not ignoring you - promise! Hope you all getting along happily.

One of the things I had to do while mia was a friends 70th birthday cake, I made it at the beginning of the year (10" Christmas cake), but God I hate decorating with a passion, I haven't the artistic streak and therefore no patience. To make matters worse, the week I was decorating (and bear in mind I make the whole lot from scratch), I realised that I was supposed to make one for one of the guests who was 85 the day of the party. Only made an 8" one as it was a token really, but have learnt that I can get home from work and have it in the oven in less than an hour, so the plan is to make one every Friday (that way I can feed and wrap on Saturday morning) from beginning of June, I have 9 to make:eek: But by doing this, I will not be losing my weekends making 3 or 4 of them at a time.

Not doing too badly on Christmas front. Has anyone heard of Social Discount Network? Got a couple of bits from there quite cheap but they also do freebies, only pay for delivery, so worth keeping an eye on it. Delivery is very slow, but if you are not fussed, fine. Currently waiting for freebie sandals for little monkey in Egypt, she will be thrilled as they are similar to a pair I have bought myself, except I paid £35 for them:rotfl:

newthrift Thanks :D. Sorry to hear about your brothers accident, glad he's OK though! And fingers crossed for the car fixing (and that it isn't too much of a job to do :/)

I have a bed covered in things to photograph, and wash, 30years in a wardrobe smell, ick! It's sending my OCD into overdrive. Most of these clothes have only been worn once, some still have their labels on! yet still I've already put hand cleanser on about 5 times and I've only carried them in from the car... gonna be a loong day!!!

Little bit of good news on my car front, Dad got a email from the people handling his compo claim, saying the lady handling it was going to have to pass it on as the sum was too high for her to authorise!! I'm really intrigued to see what he gets! It's looking good for my car fund though ;)

I am procrastinating so bad right now... I've made a pot of tea, and this was about 10million times longer but I realised I was going on about nothing in an attempt not to do these clothes... Oops!
better be good and go do them... :/

GTQ - The 9 you will be making and feeding from June, are those Christmas cakes? I am going to be doing a few myself this year and normally start in October, but if you have had success doing from June I would love to know as this might be good for me to give a try :)

They are yes, will probably feed them for 8/9 weeks each, ie feed each made cake when the next one is made, so will build up to having feed 9 in a single week, but then drop off cake 1, 2 until I have only the last cake made to do. Hopefully, they can sit maturing from end Sept. I don't decorate, not for the reason above, but purely on the basis that everyone has so much at Christmas, decorated ones tend to be cut for gluttony sake. Most seem to cut around Easter, and seem to enjoy them better.

I tend to start early as it means that there is less pressure come the autumn, as long as they are well wrapped, there is not a problem.

Hope your brother isn't suffering from the accident and hopefully his car will be repairable.

So jealous of your little trip to Harrogate. :D DH and I love going there - we went end of March for a couple of nights for our anniversary. Anniversary is 1st April but we ended up going the very end of March as prices doubled when it clicked into April (very :money:)

Hugs to everyone who is in need of one.

Catch up with you all tomorrow.
