Spendless - what a terrible year you have had, I really hope things improve and that karma comes to bite the thieves!!!!

On a christmas note, I finished my first arm knit scarf on Friday night, took 40 mins from start to finish and I was pretty chuffed. I could of done two out of the wool really so will remember for the next ones.
This one is actually for me as it was practice, but I have got the rest of the wool and will be making scarves and knitted head bands - possibly hats if I feel I can manage them.
MIL brought me a scented candle up yesterday that she had as a gift but didn't want and said to add it to my christmas box, it's becoming popular :rotfl:

I would love to see a picture of your arm knit scarf, as I'm really intrigued :)

Mia is poorly. The side of her face is weeping :(
We have the vets at 2.30 tomorrow.
I think it is Hot Spot, but I'm not sure. It looks very sore. :(
The more hair I cut away the bigger it seems to get. :(
It was only the size of a thumb nail on Saturday. Now it's the size of a cup. :(

    Poor, poor Mia :(

I am shocked that the school can force compulsory PE kits at that price! I thought that surely there had to be rules to safeguard families with low incomes and apparently there isn't! You can apply for a school uniform grant, but not sure what the cut offs are. If they are making you get it from an expensive supplier, you can however complain to citizens advice - it all seems very backwards to me :(

I read the £75 and thought woah! but then thinking on it mine was probably at least that I know just lycra shorts alone were £20 :| though I think it seemed less shocking because it had always been that way.
But the school used to sell second hand ones, and supply them to those who received free lunches.
Also worth considering is multiple children with pe on different days can wear same kit.... friends sharing kit.. I had pe mon and thurs my friend tues and fri she used to use my kit, we shared a locker couldn't fit 2 kits in, only thing she had her own was trainers.

AAAnnnddd have a look whats in the kit... We were told we had to have a rugby top and a drill top (both jumpers basically). Rugby was worn for most outdoor lessons (was reversible with white on the inside so could mark different teams).... Drill top... I never wore in 5 years...my sister is 7 years younger so got my hand me down pe kit, she never wore the drill top either!

I guess it kind of depends whats in the kit... a pair of shorts and a t-shirt no...
but then a kit made up of lots of items for different sports/indoor/outdoor, different weather, I guess they can probably say it's in the childs best interest...
I know after I finished they introduced jogging bottoms had to be ones with the school logo, but I had 5 years of doing pe in lycra shorts and netball skirt even if we were outside in snow! I'd of given anything to have something covering my legs! lol

I hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.

my DS school has uniform but you can still wear non branded items, they sell navy shorts and footie socks a rugby top (reversable) and a white top with school logo on, i have the rugby top and one of the logo white tops but if its not clean he wears a white tesco top in the same style and have never been given a 'kit fail' can the items be bought seperately or shopped around for? our uniform list states v necked jumper with school logo. lots of the kids in the school wear supermarket navy jumpers with no logo and dont get pulled up for it. as long as its 'near enough and the school know you arent taking the michael they allow it maybe were just lucky that our arent so pedantic and work with parents.
if you get no joy and really think this is too expensive it may be worth making your opinion known to the governing body.

the essentials tshirt/shorts which is the minimum they need is £30 the other top/bottoms are technically optional but considering they do most of the lessons outside regardless of weather doesnt leave you much choice. just wish schools would realise parents dont have bottomless pockets
the current kit is just plain so you can get it pretty much anywhere aslong as its the school colours the new kit you can only get from 1 supplier or the school direct hence the huge mark up:mad:

really should be doing some housework but ds wants to cuddle and watch tv so guess it'll have to wait ;)

Gosh-it's been weeks since I checked in last. I'm so sorry! Hope you're all behaving...;)
Ha so did mine RUTH i didnt think it would ever reduce, but it ended up nice and thick, we must have made the same recipe, a Good Food one? Theres loads of dessert left, only two slices were eaten :) the wine kit also didnt arrive today :( but im so far behind it doesnt matter, yes i wore a scarf thats all i had that was green :) yes your green wool does count today :rotfl:

I had an email from Westin Gourmet and the recipe was on there. Probably very similar, though.
Must start thinking about a meal for St Georges day soon. Pie and mash, maybe?

As long as there's no rush! :D Not sure when I'll get the hang of reading a pattern. I always seem to come unstuck.
Found this deal on HUKD today for Autoglym gift pack (thanks Tecklerssss). Got three reserved for birthday/xmas pressies. Would also come in handy for anyone looking for fathers day pressies. Even better deal as it is on 3 for 2.

Hope it might be useful for someone.

Darn! Missed this offer. Could've been very useful for the men I have to buy for. Never mind. Glad you got a bargain.

Betsie2010-A camper van! How cool. My mum keeps saying she wants one, but the cost of fuel puts her off. It must be great to be able to go away for the weekend and not worry about hotels or B&Bs.

Spendless-I'm so sorry to hear about everything you & your family have been going through. Sending hugs as it sounds like you could do with some. :grouphug:

OMO-Hope Mia is ok. It's horrible when pets get ill because you can't explain to them that you're trying to help them.

Went to the theatre on Saturday to see Three Sisters (Chekov), which was a bit depressing, but very well acted. Lovely meal before in a pub down the road, washed down with coconut beer (odd, sweet, but not too bad).
Weekend in Gloucester was ok. My Auntie drove me nuts, but had a nice night out with my pregnant friend, her fiance and mum. On Sunday went for a drive with Mum to Shrewsbury. Bought a nice green summer jacket for £6! :T

Sorry to hear that Mia is not well. Hope vet manages to give her something to sort the problem.

Sounds as though you have had a great weekend Ruth. Sorry that you missed the Autoglym offer at Halfords. My DB is getting one for his birthday next week and I keep thinking it doesn't look much (only paid £6.66 for it) but is would normally be a lot more. Should I feel guilty? I know he will appreciate it as he always likes a nice clean car. :D

Had a squirt of One Direction perfume whilst waiting for Mum's prescription this afternoon - didn't seem too bad at first but I am not too sure now (bit sickly).

Well going to get my pjs on just before the oven pings and then I think I will become a couch potato for the rest of the evening. :D

    Take care everyone
