Hello all
Well I have some good news and some bad news ...
The bad news - my friendly neighbour passed away in hospital after having a heart op. I didn't even know she was ill. She used to stop for a chat every day whilst walking her dog.
My ex-oh died in a motorbike accident 10 days ago. My DS is having a hard time dealing with this.
My DS and I caught the winter vomiting bug off of my twin 6 month old nephews when we were babysitting them over the weekend so that their parents could have a break. Tonight is the first time we have eaten something other than dry crackers and water ... hopefully it stays down!
The good news - I passed my exams. Now to find a new job, as my current company cannot promote me as there is not enough work about to take on another associate.
Hope things are going better for everyone else.
Now to go read back on what I may have missed.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

freespirit i will post a photo for you but all ive done today is play with scrap fabric to try different ways of mitreing to see which i prefer.
made me smile the image id conjured up of grandparents in the room for you, i suppose it was like that. my lasting memory of him is in a leather waistcoat and one of those old style collarless shirts smoking his pipe and sharing his XXX mints with me (they were so hot you had to hold them between your teeth to let your tongue have a rest), she always wore those slippers with the pompoms on with little flaps buttoned down and a floral wrap round apron with her hair up in a bun. proper style great grandparents. living over the road from them meant i always had them gran uncles aunts and cousins nearby. i really missed that when we moved from lincs
Oh MRSMONEYPENNY what another lovely image and memories, i cherish my memories of my dear nan, i lived with her and my aunt for the first 6 years of my life and was devastated when my mum married and we moved 200 miles away from her, i can remember crying nearly the whole way the first time i left, and all my sister and i could think about was spending school holidays with heroh you have brought some lovely memories back for me today thankyou
SPRINGDREAMS oh what an awful time for you just lately, but what fab news, congratulations on passing your exams, results a long time coming but so worth it
FEISTY hope everything is going ok, thinking of you both#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -

It took me 3 hours to drive the 75 miles home.
I got everything I went for and more. The unit was £35 but only £26 with a Family card.
I was hoping to leave here by 10 this morning, but life took over and I didn't leave until gone 12. Blooming life  If I had left home when I had planned to I would have left Ikea 2 hours earlier and missed the accident.
But I shouldn't moan, some poor people were involved in the thing, so being stuck behind it isn't so bad.
I bought a really nice lamp in B&Q to replace the Habitat one DD broke a while back.

I did look in Ikea, but the only one I could afford and liked was the one I already have. The one I have is plastic, so they go nicely together.
As you know all my ornaments are stags, which I can't really use all year. I have decided to go for dogs in the summer months. I have 2 bulldogs, a sausage dog, a French pit bull, a poodle and a dog bust.

I must go to bed now as I am having trouble keeping my eyes open.0 -

Charlie [the dog] had his operation yesterday and it went really well , we collected him at 5pm . i slept [sort of] on the sofa next to him last night just as well cos he needed a pee 3 times during the night.
He looks a bit like a half plucked chicken at the back !This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thank you everyone for your kind messages - DH is in hospital, but is yet to have anything done. The surgical consultant they wanted to run his case by is at home in Finland, and no one has told us exactly when he will be back.
He should (fingers, toes, eyes and anything you can think of crossed!) be having the cardioversion tomorrow, and if all goes well may even be able to come home Friday. At least he can wait out the decision making and surgical plans at home in relative comfort.
I'm dead on my feet at it's just gone 7I'm struggling to work, run the businesses, fill orders, sort the house/dogs and visit DH in the next county over. Usually I would take a morning off from work and get all orders/house up together, but with just one income now this really isn't possible

Good Morning
FF I hope DH gets sorted soon.
I ache. That drive home last night did me in. I got most of my bits built or put away. Today I just have to make the big unit and get Fingers toys put away in it. And go to work. And walk Mia. And get some housework done.
Not much then. :rotfl:
Got to go and get started or nothing will get done.0 -
morning all
massive hugs and supporting vibes for you feisty, will have everything crossed here that your DH surgery goes well and everything is fixed as it should be.
freespirit, glad i could rekindle some happy memories of your nan and aunt, i think for some people now those family ties seem lost as people move away from homes and relationships change. i feel lucky to have grown up close to so many of my rellys.
omo hope you managed to get a good sleep last night and are more refreshed today.
thought of you when we drove by a big loros shop on the edge of the city a few weeks ago, they had a full sized stag in the window display it looked like one of those woven stick ones and it was very impressive. road was too busy to grab phone and photo it but i said to DH omo would love that. he does think ive lost the plot sometimes.
springdreams sorry your life is touched with so much sadness at the moment. hugs to your DS and condolences to you and your friendly neighbours family. well done on passing your exam i hope you find the new job or promotion you want.
