  • Hi all,
I've had a lovely long read today of the posts since Tuesday. Hugs and good wishes to those who need them. Virtualchocolate brownie or nice glass of Pinot available for those who would like some.:D:D

Popped to Mr T's today for my DD eye test and managed to get a lovely hat for my Dad and a pair of really good biker style gloves for DS1.:j:j

DS2 and his girlfriend are looking for a flat but sadly, no good bargains to be had for them.:(
I did manage to get a double duvet cover for them from Mr S reduced from £28 to £8.40.........then went back and got myself one.:rotfl::rotfl:

DS2 is "sorting" his room and now my bedroom and landing are cluttered up with the stuff he "needs but not just now" :mad:I see a trip to the loft in the next couple of days to store the stuff.

While I am up there I am going to transfer my Christmas stash up there. I have a large wicker basket in the top of my wardrobe where I put stuff as I get it but there is not enough room to keep everything there.
I suppose this will make me do it sooner rather than later.:)

Thanks to all who post. I really enjoy this thread.
    Lovely people and great motivation.

    xxxx

Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say
    Loving de-cluttering

  • Evening everyone, hope everyone has had a good weekend, even with this horrible weather and floods, we havent been able to get out the village, roads all closed, and the army were called out in the early hours of this morning to stop the local substation being flooded, if it does 40,000 homes and businesses will be without electricity. I made a rainbow cake today, it was one of my challenges and i have wanted to make one for ages but not really had the nerve, omg it was a disaaaaaster daaaarling :rotfl:the food colours were awful, so weak not even coming out the colour they were meant to be, the cake is so dense (i reckon we could use that alone to hold the tarpaulin on roof down), and the flipping cream cheese icing was too runny (i know there is a fine line making cream cheese icing so i didnt use my mixer to make sure it didnt over mix but it still did) it is vile i can see it going straight in the bin.

    Good Morning!
Not much to report here on the Christmas front.
Had a lovely time at my friend's Chinese New Year party on Friday but arrived home to find the church minibus windscreen smashed - it's obviously personal, two attacks in a fortnight. We need to find another place to keep it, I think.
I hope the weather isn't affecting anyone too badly. Yesterday's workout involved pegging curtains on the washing line without them, or me, being blown away! I am trying to deep clean and declutter one room each month and the curtains were the last thing to do in the kitchen. Time to sort the DVDs in the living room next...
Free spirit, thank you for posting your challenges - the information is really helpful. SAD rears its ugly head here every year and the light box is out every day atm.
Hugs to everyone - I hope you're continuing to improve JJ.x

BETASAM you are very welcome i am glad you find them helpful, my friend suffers from SAD so i know how you are feeling. That is awful the minibus being targeted again, it does need to be stored elsewhere doesnt it, i hope it isnt near any of your windows. Over the last year i have got rid of over 100 dvds, i now only keep kids movies, ones i can watch over and over and over again and christmas ones, the rest i had watched once, wasnt likely to watch ever again and they were just collecting dust :)
Morning, lovelies, been awake since daft o clock, following from a dream that I had been diagnosed with diabetes, and have spent the time redesigning my diet and lifestyle to accommodate it....... even when awake I keep doing it! MrsI has gone batty again. I know it was a dream, but it wont get out of my brain.
Sequeena, so sorry that T's op didn't work, but as others have said, at least you both tried.
Nanamia, You will be pleased to know that I didn't make a cake, but DD was delighted with her new fluffy sox and slippers. And the strawberries were demolished in record time, even for her!
Ds has not had word yet about the job, but has been getting quotes from removal firms, (hopeful fingers crossed).
Mrs Giggleswick, you are so craftful (I didn't want to say 'crafty' in case it was misunderstood) and knitting can be very therapeutic, well done, you.
Happy flatpacking, B-e-G, hope it all goes together beautifully and easily. Photos would be lovely.
Glad you are back on top of the challenges, Freespirit, and I hope the Insect Hotel is for the garden!

MRSINVISIBLE i still have fingers crossed for DS coming home :) yes haha it is, is DD any better?

    Morning all,
Ive not been posting much this last week as we are trying to get the last of the decorating done, just the bathroom and the hall to do . they both will take only half a day to decorate but 3 to prep as the walls are soooooo bad.
Not much christmas prep but i have ordered oh a hobbit t-shirt for his birthday so at least he is started.
Ive also sent all the cards for the year to my sister and mum [cheaper to put them all in one mail bag than post individually] we don't buy for birthdays the younger kids get £10.
My eBay issue turned into a massive problem so much so i have stopped selling as i don't need the vile aggressive issues that last sale brought with it.
    Hope you are all ok.

Oh CHRISSY im so sorry it turned into a massive horrible issue, people are trying it on, and conning people left right and centre on there now

PIXTOTTS glad you had a fab night out, careful in those floods tomorrow
OMO oh bless FM hes had that cold for a while now hasnt he? Hope BFF doesnt let you down and you have a good day out. Love the quote and my poor caption of the day 'OMG TOYS R US HERE WE COME' How are the people from the house explosion now, have you heard any more?
MSGIGGLEWICK oh it must be awful seeing local people in such dire straits, i am glad people are rallying round to help out, i cant see your photo i just have a red cross
NITNURSE ooh i will have a nice glass of pinot thankyou  fab offer on the duvet cover

Freespirit I just realised I didn't leave my caption :rotfl:
    ' I've had enough. I'm off to Mima's '

2 of the 9 families that were made homeless have found new homes. The couple whose house blow up are still in hospital but are doing well.
Our council has been in contact with a council in Somerset and anything that been donated but not needed here is going there. Dd is volunteering again tomorrow after college. All the donations need sorting in to sets. She told me my bag has already gone to one of the families re-housed. I expect it is to the family I know.

Sorry your cake didn't go well. I have never been into baking. Neither of my 2 are great cake eaters, so it's not worth the aggro. Which is just as well as I expect anything I did would make your rainbow cake look good. :rotfl:

free spirit.. use the cake in a trifle or warm it up and add custard.. you won't even see it.. esp. if you use chocolate custard. You need the gel food colours, they are best rather than the liquid which just goes a murky brown.. even I can't go wrong with those and I'm useless.

You're probably fast asleep by now, but we watched Meet The Millers tonight and that was funny.
Also Now You See Me is good.

Good luck with the flat pack assembling tomorrow. Will send good vibes that all goes smoothly. :)

Yep - you were right Ruth fell asleep a little bit early then stayed awake from just after midnight until it was time to get up

Tried to look for Millers and Now You See Me on Netflix and it said they weren't available to stream. Typical - I was going to add them to our list to watch later. Thanks anyway.

Reasonable progress made on DS bedroom yesterday - hope to make a bit more progress today.

Will catch up with all the weekend's post soon.

Grr. There's so much less on streaming than what's available as rent by post. I'll have a look and see what's on...

Ok, had a peek and they have Once, which is the show I saw a couple of weeks ago and was brilliant. I've not seen the film, but I'd like to.
Salmon Fishing In The Yemen is far better than it sounds!
The Proposal is good fun. I do like Sandra Bullock.
As for tv series, I've had so many people tell me that Breaking Bad is great.

Thanks Ruth - will check out Once later. Have read and watched Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and really enjoyed that. Think I have seen The Proposal too. I daren't get into a series as there aren't enough hours in the day. I think DS pays around £6 a month for Netflix but he uses it at home and at his gfs and we use it so we probably get our moneys worth.
