Good Morning All - and special greetings to the birthday folk!
It is pouring here - and I'm supposed to be taking part in a car treasure hunt later on. Always great fun, but don't relish the thought of crawling round looking for clues in driving rain. It might clear up??? Don't envy the organisers having to decide whether to cancel or not, especially as they'll have got in supplies for the BBQ at the end.
Glad Aussielass is safely home again - despite the mix-up over airports.
Icecubequeen - would you take the job if offered? If not, then it's totally a watse of time. yes, it's too late to call another person in for interview, but it'd be wasting the interviewer's time as well as yours. They'd rather you pulled out, I'm sure, if you really wouldn't now be interested in the job.
Early service today so am having a lazy/feeling guilty morning here! Love and (((((hugs))))) to all.

    Morning everyone!

<<Aussie>>Easily done, thank goodness you made it!

Rain, rain, rain today, so can't do much in the garden. Very frustrating, as the work on the seating area has come to a halt due to the weather. We've decided we're going to hard landscape it, and redo the patio and path as well in the same material. I think I may have found what I want, but I need to see it "in the flesh" to be sure. Will pop to a local landscape centre to see if they have it, while DH is in the pub at lunchtime.

Bought some stuff to restore some very grey hardwood garden seats. It's a two step thing, and you don't need to sand. We tried Step 1 on part of the furniture yesterday, left it to dry out overnight, and it's looking promising. Can't do step 2 until the rain stops.

DW emptied, WM on with first load, have a couple more to do today. DIdn't do any yesterday as I prefer to hang it outside. Now it's piling up, and I can't wait.

Cherry Jam was a disaster. Didn't set, not a problem really as normally I would just put it back in the pan, add some lemon juice, and reboil it. Problem is I tried some (thinking of sauce for pancakes), and it was pretty horrible. Very sweet, cherries were a bit rubbery, and I just couldn't be bothered. I'm afraid to say it's all gone in the bin.

I'm thinking of trying the Arasys system for inch loss (not weight loss) . Has anyone tried it? The ads in the paper don't give much info though, just a phone number.

DH has taken up a new hobby, wood turning. We brought back a kump of Kauri wood from NZ that he wanted to turn into a bowl. He bought a lump of practice wood the other day, and he's turned a really lovely little bowl. Don't have a use for it, but he really has done a good job.

Well, can't put it off anymore, need to get going.

    Have a good day everyone!

    My questions would be:
Would I like the other job more?
    Is the hours/pay better?
Is it closer less costs to get there?
Do I like what I am doing now?

If the answers the first 3 are No or no different and the answer to the last one is Yes, then no point in going. If not, nothing lost!

    in answer to ur questions...

I'm not really sure till I try it

Hours are the same, well i'll be doing 16hrs as normal, dunno what the shift pattern is like though. At the mo I do 2 full days of 8hrs and have the rest of the week off, which I really like. If this new job is hrs spread over the week, that means going in everyday, which isnt as gd. But I wont know what the hrs are unless I go for the interview. My pay at the mo is £6.67, the pay of the new job is £7.31, but then it doesnt really matter, as child tax and working tax make my wages up to cover my chilcare.

Its about half a mile futher then my current job and I will have to pay for a parking permit as it's working for the hospital and you have to pay to park there. I don't pay for parking at the mo, as I work on an industrial estate and we have our own parking for our company.

I do like it, I've only been doing it a couple of weeks. It does seem ok, and I can do the job, just thinking this other job might be better, the grass is greener sorta thing :rotfl:

    Morning All

(((Hugs))) to all who need or want them.

Had a good day yesterday went into Southport and got DH a pair of work boots for £17 from Soccer Sports and while we were there we got DD a pair of Sketcher mock Crocs for £7. Then we went in Asda and there was 25% off the summer stuff so got DD 3 T-shirts for £7 including a Fifi and the Flower tots one.

Had a nice lie in this morning apart from a early morning alarm call from dd at 4.45. Fortunately managed to convince her that it was to early and she went back to sleep till 10am cant beleive it that is unheard of.

Having a quiet day at home today, I'm going to clean out the crockery cupboard in the kitchen and retreive my good Denby china out of the garage, we are down to 2 every day plates and it seems silly to buy new when I've got perfectly good plates sitting in a box in the garage.

Got some ironing to do later and were having a piece of Brisket done in the slow cooker for dinner tonight. DH is going to fix the door from the garage to the house later as one of its hinges rotted through a couple of weeks ago so we will proberbly be falling over each other.

    Have a good day everyone

    Good afternoon!

Happy Birthday Miss Pink-winged and meanmarie:bdaycake: :bdaycake:

Glad you're home safely Aussie! The city airport eh? Sickening thing is you pay a hefty premium to use that one! It's only across the river from me, but costs much more than if I'm willing to travel to Gatwick or Heathrow. Bet you're enjoying your *new* house that you had to leave so soon after completion:D I take it DD had kept it lovely;)

Snowy, your dial-up must be much better than what i have, nobody could live with this for any length of time:rotfl: :rotfl: Roll on next weekend, then I can return to sanity:D

Now Penny-Pincher, I'm a few years older than your nephew ( ) but I want to know what's wrong about the way he ate it? I eat all the apple (and pear too!) core, pips the lot:D :D It's never done me any harm, just gives lots of lovely roughage, and despite what my Grandmother said, no apple trees have ever grown inside me:rotfl: :rotfl: The only apple cor i don't eat is cooking apples because they're a lot tougher!

Going now, since I've been on for over an hour and i promised to call DS2 back about 30 minutes ago!!:o

  • Hello everyone

Thought I'd drop in & say hi, been very busy lately and can't wait until I break up for the six weeks hols on the 20th July (I'm counting the days down - sad I know!!)

Anyway, had the call of my mortgage broker to say the re-mortgage is going through on Friday :j Yippee!!. So I can pay for all the work I've arranged to have done in the six weeks holidays now. Got a really good rate through Northern Rock at 4.59% fixed for 2 years. Even though I've had a little extra cash my payments are still going to be less :T

My cat (pepsi) has brought me 2 baby birds back today  . Bless him he looked so proud but I hate it when he does it. He hasn't done it for ages, he seems to go through phases where he brings back birds & mice for a few weeks then dosn't do it for months. I wish he didn't do it at all though.

I went out yesterday and there was a big frog on my doorstep   . Urgh, don't like them either, he's gone now thank god!!

DS went to sports day with Boys Bridgade and came back with a medal for coming first in the relay :T :T . He's going to the senior school on Wednesday for an induction day and he's really excited. He can't wait to go in September.

Anyway, Have a loevely day if your celebrating and hugs to those that want/need them.
