Take your time - Pack up your stuff over the next few days -If it's too much to take to your friend's then put it into storage until you have somewhere more permanent with space . By the time you've done that your friend will be back.

He has no right to make you leave the marital home straight away so for the sake of a few days -stay put til you have got a big more organized. )or longer as Tiddlywinks posted)

  • Thanks everyone.

I found some strength from somewhere and told him I will not be going today - as quite simply I have no where to go.

We are already sleeping apart, him on sofa, so that will obviously continue.

Get on the estate agents websites & look at what rental properties are available.

Well done, that's fantastic, I'm so glad you've stood up to him.

So...what's next? Appointment with a solicitor? They'll all be open tomorrow morning.

well done rocketqueen. i definately think you have made the right choice. be brave and make this your year x
  • Morning feel bit more positive this morning, though still very daunted by whole thing.

I'm not sure if a solicitor needs to be my 1st step to be honest, as although it seems stupid I will let him have the flat, I know deep down the cat will be better off staying here, we have separate bank accounts still etc, so not to much for a solicitor to help with at this stage.

Think my initial concern needs to be somewhere to go, I text my friend last night and she is more then happy to have me stay again - obviously only a short term solution.

Hope the strong feeling continues, but know my emotions will be very up and down.

Thank you all for support so far xx

If you are looking to end the marriage I think you should see a lawyer, have you contributed to the mortgage in any way? Its all very well leaving him in the flat, your choice but legally even if you do walk away with nothing, I'd still get advice on what I might be entitled to.

I hope the cat will be well cared for if you leave.
