Yes indeed (ask a vet?) It it the same in Bulgarian, Russian , Polish ( with different letters.) Yes I can read Russian. So what is you point? All I wanted to say on this forum I said it.
I can't read Russian - or, indeed, any of those other languages you mention. But I get the point Stebiz is making.
I would ask a vet.
So the point is - ask a vet!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

We walked in and there were no other animals waiting to see Vet.We went during usual opening hours
She was not examined and had no symptoms of a pancreas problem.
I agree that if we had heard comments regarding this practice we obviously have gone elsewhere.
What are the symptoms of a pancreas problem?0 -
So ask a Vet, like was said.
I asked my vet once about giving human painkillers to my cat in emergencies. His words were. "NEVER give pets any human medication, it risks killing them. Would you rather have your cat in pain for a few hours or die in agony ? "
Some medicines may be fine for animals, but unless you have the years of training or specific advice from someone who has that you're an idiot to do it and even worse to suggest someone else does so.
To do so to save a couple of quid beggars belief.
I think you need a new profile pic, Einstein was a clever man, he didn't just think he was. You're a dangerous fool.
Vets 4 pets is like Injurylawyers4u a promotions company, used by vets who aren't busy enough. That alone says a lot to me. Good vets are usually busy due to word of mouth ..like the one mentioned here in this thread...people are always keen to share a good vet.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Took our chihuahua to vets4pets at 7pm as she yelped when we picked her up. We thought she may have hurt her leg.
Our vet was closed.
They aked if she had vomited. No.
Had she been eating normally. Yes.
Any other symptoms.No.
We asked for painkiller as she may have strained a muscle.
They refused and said she needed a blood test to see if she had a pancreas problem! This was clear but we had to agree to the test or we could not have a painkiller.
We had to pay £156.00!!!!!!!!!!
Our dog was fine the next day.
What a racket!!!!!!
I know this was a while ago now, but if this was at 7pm was it Vets4Pets or Vets Now who you saw? Vets Now provide dedicated out of hours cover for a number of practices in the Preston area and they work out of the Vets4Pets building however, both are completely separate companies and therefore have their own separate pricing policies.
An out of hours veterinary visit is always going to cost you more money than an opening hours visit, and if it doesn't then you must have an extremely generous vet.
With regards to your pet's symptoms, they must have had some suspicion regarding ruling out pancreatitis otherwise they would not have suggested it. If it was routine bloods before dispensing anti-inflammatory medication then this is good practice, I'm sure you would not be too happy if the bloods were not offered and your pet either had pancreatitis or had an underlying organ problem that could have been worsened by some medications.
Also, pet insurance goes a long way to ensure you can recover some of the costs of treatment. This is something that, in my opinion, should be compulsory for all pet owners to have to help promote responsible pet ownership and to help with those unexpected vet bills.0
