What if someone read this "advice" but was unable to contact a vet to check first?

    Then they are fools.

It implied that any form of human pain medication

I think you would do well in going back to school and learning how to read. In no way did I say any form.

So why didn't you take your dog to your regular vet if you are so happy with them. I have a great vet and wouldn't just go to another random one on a whim.

I don't think that I am the one who has to go back to school.

Without a doubt, but I think we have all seen that there are plenty of fools in the world and there are a lot of people who are of the mindset "it was on the news", "In the Sun" or "I read it on the internet so it must be true".

I give human medication to my dog (steroid eye drops) as the human stuff is £2.12 a bottle and the veterinary version is £12.50 and my vet has confirmed that the two products are identical apart from the packaging.

The post by Stebiz was dangerous irrespective of the "check with your vet" disclaimer.
It implied that any form of human pain medication could be used on pets (which isn't the case) and even if giving the safe ones, how would you know the correct dosage? No it didn't; Stebiz went on to say vets often prescribe certain types; that was the pertinent part!

What if someone read this "advice" but was unable to contact a vet to check first? If they are going to read the 'advice' then one hopes they would read it all; including the check with a vet part

What would you say to someone that said that giving pet medication to a child was fine but you should check with a doctor first? How is this relevant?

well if they couldn't check with the vet as stebiz says then common sense would dictate not to give it to the animal

Took our chihuahua to vets4pets at 7pm as she yelped when we picked her up. We thought she may have hurt her leg.
    Our vet was closed.
They aked if she had vomited. No.
Had she been eating normally. Yes.
    Any other symptoms.No.
We asked for painkiller as she may have strained a muscle.
They refused and said she needed a blood test to see if she had a pancreas problem! This was clear but we had to agree to the test or we could not have a painkiller.
    We had to pay £156.00!!!!!!!!!!
Our dog was fine the next day.
    What a racket!!!!!!

I don't understand why you didn't call your own vet's emergency number even though they were closed.

Sadly not everyone has common sense These ideas should not be put into pet owners minds.

Do you actually READ the WHOLE post you reply to?

Because Stebiz not only said NOT to take his/her word for it but to check with a vet, first.

Yet another pointless, emotional post Hachette!

What are the other pointless posts? Emotional maybe but on my thread only and for a good reason, not on this one. Just trying to save some pets from being hurt by their owners due to stupid advice
