    here you go: http://m.lvsun.com/news/2014/sep/02/clark-county-considers-banning-glass-bottles-strip/

Only mentioned it as someone mentioned the Fremont street ban annoyed them :)

Looks fab! For our dates, it's £145 per night for a suite.
I should've mentioned our resort fee is on top of that. Beers by the pool are only $6 too. Not bad at all, tho it's a hell of a lot colder pool water than Aria was!

Thanks! We're checking in on September 12th and checking out on September 21st. This year. Yes, we've left it late ;)

Oh, you have indeed left it quite late

At a glance, your dates could be a wee bit problematic. Mayweather fight is next weekend, however at opposite end of the strip. Mexican Independence is also towards the end of your trip and will make Vegas fill up a bit too...but not too much.

Ok, so go to priceline.com and plug your dates in. Click the Express Deals tab. It's unfortunately not good for you dates. Nvh was lucky with his price (as was I this time last year with very early September dates). £62 for your dates, There's a $225 resort fee for your 9 nights which is $25 per night...and I don't know if that tells you anything. My knowledge of those hotels is limited. So you'd want to check TI, Mirage etc resort fee. Also consider if SLS or Golden nugget are 4* or 5* (I say this because I actually don't know what they are).

5* 8.0 rating, casino (dice symbol proves it's not Trump). 8.0 rating as opposed to 9.0 makes it look like Venetian rather than Palazzo (or Wynn which is pretty unlikely anyway). If you then click choose you will get a choice of room types. Luxury, Venezia or Bella. I know Luxury could be anywhere, but I don't think one listing would contain two different hotels if that makes sense...I think they are just room types within one hotel at this stage.

I don't know if you'd stay at 2 properties to try to get better rates. I've not got a lot of time to do this just now (although I'm doing my jetlag impression waking up at 420am today hence being on here just now!). If I change the dates a bit I think Trump is appearing too, with an 8 rating but it has a paw symbol in the amenities, and no dice...so I think it's easy to spot. Sorry if I'm being a bit obvious here....I don't know how well others can identify on priceline so I'm just trying to tell you what I know and how I'm drawing the conclusions.

Not sure if you are prepared to go down to 4* either, or how this even compares with the normal rates. 4* North Strip (avoid the word 'Near' unless you want Palms or similar, as there are more random hotels in this category too that you may not even think about). Anyway, 4* North Strip £62 I would bank on that being TI. If it isn't, then it would likely be Mirage. It's more likely to be TI though and Mirage would be a bonus I suppose. You may be able to work that out by checking room types, rating, fussing at the amenities to see if there's a difference. I'm not an expert in that category and have never bid in it, however they are hotels I like and I'd be happy with either.

South Strip at £216 5* is a bit of a silly price, it also have a shuttle bus (which is a bit of an unusual amenity for strip hotels), and a $25 resort fee which might help identify. It's only going to be a city center property or Bellagio. I'm thinking Cosmopolitan for this one.

South Strip 4* isn't that cheap, and there's a bit of a range of hotels in there...some that often come up cheap so I'd be wary of that category in that area.

Near strip west 4.5* would probably be Palms.

Hope this helps a bit. Enjoy your trip whatever you decide on.

sorry, thought Becksta had covered it :)

Can guarantee we are not in the Golden Nugget at the moment!....

    ;)

To be fair, the place has been great. Very hassle free apart from the timeshare people but they are easy to dodge. We are in the Venetian tower and is quick to get down to shop level and get down and out. Lifts never seem busy either. Good deal @ £60 per night on strip!

    Hope that helps :)

Edit: as you can see, there are a few clouds. Weather turns a little at the weekend apparently :/

I'm not happy about this weather. That partly cloudy day in your picture looks fine, however the forecast for Phoenix tomorrow is rain/thunderstorms. And a clammy 104F. It's our only full day. Then when I look up Flagstaff for our day, the thunderstrom seems to follow us (although chillier in the 70s there). Then we get to Vegas on Tuesday the iffy weather seems to be over...but I guess we have to wait and see. We got quite strange wet weather last year (and year before). Fingers crossed it's not too bad for your last few days!

What's all this about no drinks on Fremont street ?
We always nip into one of the gift shops and buy a couple of buds to drink while watching the light show.Is this ban on all alcohol sold i.e aluminium bottles, or just glass bottles.I know you can buy your beer from plenty other places while down there, but it's a ritual for us to keep nipping into the nearest gift shop for a cold one.....always have our own vegas bottle opener on our visits ready to use.:D

It can be tricky finding anything near a respectable beer in Vegas.

You cannot do that anymore. If you buy drink in any of the gift shops they staple the bag together with a note on the bag with the penalties if caught opening the bag anywhere except your hotel room.

You are only allowed to drink from open plastic containers bought from the many bars.

some of the casinos will supply the plastic cup at the exit if you have bought anything inside but the shops wont, there are notices everywhere
