I always manage to long haul myself whenever I pick up a rental car at the airport!!!

I'm the opposite...we normally end up thinking ah we'll just go up the Strip! and wishing we hadn't as we get stuck in traffic and just want to get to the hotel and shower and change and hit the casino ;)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Has anybody rented a pool cabana? I'm considering it at MC but cannot see prices on their website, not sure it will be worth it but just wanted opinions and approx guide on price. Not sure how it works with F&B, do you get this included up to a certain amount or is it extra cost to the rental?

    Thanks.

put it this way, its not cheap at MC, especially on weekends!
I looked at the daybed for the Thursday, and it would have cost us $300 on the cheap to get that!!

Ahhhh but mine is an inadvertent longhaul - I could only wish to get stuck in traffic on the strip rather than heading out of down on a two or three lane freeway.

Dunno why, happens every time. And every time I look at the map beforehand (Swenson, Swenson.....damm).

It would be for a weekday prob Tuesday, was $300 inc F&B? I think it will be too expensive but if i nip over to MGM first and drop Lion's Share think i'll pop for one!

P.S thought you would have got one for $10 inc unlimited F&B with your wheeler dealer skills!

Been to Vegas twice and no idea if I was long-hauled either time or not! I can see it's irritating but not the end of the world in the grand scheme of things.

One thing I do remember from our last trip is the concierge at Monte Carlo trying to persuade us to squeeze into a limo with about ten other travellers for some ridiculous price because "there's been an accident and there aren't many taxis available at the moment."

I think the limo driver was trying to earn some extra cash in a quiet period, and the concierge was getting a kickback. We waited and were in a cab within two minutes!

We are picking the car up from the airport, then driving to the Flamingo. Will google map it and make a note of when to turn off etc. Can anyone tell me if the hotels are sign posted on the road? Am I right in assuming the car entrances are round the back or side of the hotel?
Assuming you'll be leaving the airport and taking Swenson north then you'd turn left from Swenson and head west on Tropicana. Then you can either go north on the Strip, or it might be easier to turn right before the Strip onto Koval Lane (there's a big Motel 6 on the opposite corner at this intersection, and it's just before MGM/Grand). On Koval Lane you'll go past a Super 8 motel on your right, then Flamingo Road is the next street but I don't know if you should turn there or not. I had a look at the Flamingo's web site and for directions I could only find a link to Google Maps but I might have missed something. Anyway, I wandered around a bit in StreetView mode but couldn't find anything definite so you really need advice from someone who has stayed there with a car.

BTW there are often official signs at interstate exits to specific motels, restaurants and gas stations, for example:
    https://www.google.co.uk/maps?ll=37.634905,-113.101526&spn=0.044725,0.209255&t=m&z=13&layer=c&cbll=37.634905,-113.101526&panoid=7k5Bis2pSD7TP2lLOX-cfw&cbp=11,74.01,,0,-2.07
    and:
    https://www.google.co.uk/maps?ll=37.127134,-113.526986&spn=0.006236,0.013078&t=m&z=17&layer=c&cbll=37.127079,-113.527105&panoid=9ho7-9k0KaLcvSeP_r4iyA&cbp=12,65.74,,0,4.8
In addition, billboards before interstate exits also often have directions to the establishment they are advertising, for example (sorry it's a bit blurred but it says "Exit now"):

John259 That's incredibly useful, thanks for that. We are picking the car up from the airport, then driving to the Flamingo. Oh Owenmc60 really close for you then! If you get chance, do you mind reporting back about how you find TC? We are flying from Manchester too. We haven't booked inflight meals so plan on buying a couple meal deals each at the airport.

Thanks, bubble113 glad to hear your experience with TC wasn't bad. We would have preferred to fly with Virgin but the prices we found were reasonable.

How do you all find the jet lag?

I'll do my best to remember to report back with my thoughts on TC MAN->LAS :)

    Thanks.

I've got the Executive Cabana booked for MC, midweek its $650 (+tax). But that is all a food and booze credit on a 'use it or lose it' basis (which makes it alot more justifiable, It's my mission to get our moneys worth!!).

Other MC Cabana prices are as follows:

    Luxury Cabana: $475-midweek $575-weekend
    Executive Cabana: $650-midweek $850-weekend

Which from what I hear is better than most, which are simply just a rental fee and then you have to pay for booze n food on top of that rental price.

You should email the MC Concierge at: concierge@montecarlo.com. They can send you the PDF's on the different options & prices and will answer any questions.

Then you'll have to call them to book it and put down a $200 deposit (refundable upto 24hrs before), and they will take this off your total.

    Hope that helps

I'm interested to hear about this too, as we're flying out on 3rd Aug (SO CLOSE :j :j ) with Thomas Cook from Manchester.

It would be great to hear of people experiences with them, whats the food/drink service like? And whats the in-flight entertainment like? Cheers!
New to the forum but flew with them a couple of months ago, everything was fine but the IFE was old about 4 films and some other bits to watch, no free alcahol, food was fine. But I found the flight times great as we landed at 12pm and check in at hotel was 3pm and flight home was 2pm and checkout at hotel was 11am so go maximum vegas time. Already booked with thomas cook for next year as got a good deal.
They are giving all their planes a makeover, getting rid of premium cabins and giving economy more room and updated touch screen IFE so might be worth checking which plane your on

You do not pick up rental cars at the airport - you take a shuttle to the consolidated rental facility which is located on Gilespie and pretty much straight up the Strip once you get out of the general facility roads. The location is in the link I posted above.
