We always take the keys into the desk inside - it's right near the Krispy Kreme outlet, so it's got an extra perk. I'd probably rather be sure that they got the car checked back in etc. Could you not call Dollar at TI to ask what the charge is for?
We've never had trouble with additional charges and have used the TI location several times.0 -
I'm staying at the Aria, what would you guys suggest I say to a taxi driver to get there? I don't know where the taxi rank is or what way they have to drive out of the airport. Sorry if an obvious question, or if this isn't a place which taxi drivers would try to take us the long way to.0

We stay at the Vdara which is directly opposite, a couple of times we've been taken via the tunnel and up the i-15, and also up Swenson and then E Harmon.
I keep forgetting to pay attention, but I think it might be easier to access the Aria/Vdara by going up the i-15, so the tunnel's not out of the question. But I'm yet to drive it myself, so not really sure!
You could ask to be driven via the Kiss Mini golf, as I think that's on the way using the most direct route... You could just say you want to see where it is!0 -
FWIW I found a map on McCarran's web site showing where the taxi pickup points are for each terminal. Go to https://www.mccarran.com/Fly/MyJourneyMap.aspx#
then click Ground transportation > Taxis.
Then you could check possible routes from the airport to hotels using Google Maps.
(Then tell Anneka to get back to the helicopter and head for the next clue...)

It's very difficult if you aren't a very frequent visitor to Vegas to question the cab driver whilst being long hauled. I have been only 3 times, so know enough to know I've been done but not enough to tell them where they should go. Last October I wasn't long hauled to Aria but in May I was to Vdara. Despite saying no tunnel we were still long hauled via the surface roads, I did question it and was told the strip was busy due to Mayweather fight the night before, however as far as I could tell the long haul bit happened around the airport area and nowhere near the 'busy' strip. Very frustrating and I probably should have stood up to the cab driver a bit more but as I said didn't feel I had the knowledge to back me up!!0

I know its a money saving site but for the sake of $5 - $10 is it really worth getting worried about it, if you are anything like us it will be a drop in the ocean of what you will spend over the next few days.
Mind you we always pick up our car at the airport so it does not really count for us.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -

I don't think it's a question of being worried about it, as you say in the grand scheme of things it's a tiny amount of money, personally I can afford it but I simply don't like being cheated. It's someone else's fault.0 -
When are everyone's trips? It's just under 60 days until we go now.
We are hiring a car as we are going to GC and HD, along with a trip to Red Rock if we feel like it. OH is doing all the driving but has never driven abroad, does anyone have any useful tips?
Also, has anyone flown with Thomas Cook to LV recently, I've never flown long haul and heard some horror stories about flying with them. Any tips for the flight would be good too!0 -

To be honest i wouldnt worry about it.
I dont like being long hauled but then I know my around Vegas, for a newbie, just ask for the Aria (you could say I dont want to go through the tunnel) and pay the man at the end.
If he has longhauled you it will still be less than $30.
In the grand scheme of things he may overcharge you by £5 dont let that spoil your hols0
