Petrol for 78.8p/litre

  • Isn't a draw back of this system the loss of, say, the 6% discount, or reduced standing charge, that a customer receives by paying their energy bill by direct debit?

Bill, I don't understand why you didn't write it up instead of/as well as making a video?

    Essentially, the idea is simply:

    - Buy 3v prepaid visas from Morrisions as part of the Fuel Saver scheme. This gives a voucher for 1p/litre for every £10 spent on the 3v visas, or other gift cards.
    - Use the 3v visas to pay for Gas/Electric/other bills/purchases. For energy bills, one can usually leave the direct debit paying a nominal amount.
    - Use the Petrol voucher to save money on petrol bill
    - Optionally, the purchase can be made on a cashback credit card.

One correction - the prepaid visa is more like a visa debit card rather than a visa credit card in terms of acceptance (but all* routes that allow easy conversion back to cash are blocked).

(* As far as I know. If anyone does discover such methods, they'd be well advised not to share on a public forum)

What a thoroughly nasty and pointless comment.

10 minutes to watch the OP's video + 10 minutes effort implementing his plan has saved me £20 on a tank of fuel.

    £20 for 20 minutes work.

Thanks Bill for the excellent advice.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I'm sure there was a certain amount of tongue in cheek with the comment. Maybe some only have a moneysaving gene at the expense of a sense of humour.

Personally, I find there are just some lengths I'm not prepared to go to save £20.00 but if that's your bag then knock yourself out and enjoy.

If someone thinks I'm sad then so be it - but if I've spent a little of my time to help even one person, then I feel good about doing it.

As many a rapper has sung over the years, "haters gonna hate"

For me, though, it's like the Halifax fivers in terms of recurrence - lots of people said it was too much hassle for £5 - but the initial couple of hours spent setting it up has made many people in excess of £500, and counting...

Yes good post unfortunately 6 months too late.

This has been posted over forums and on here for the last 6 months, if you were on it early enough you could get free fuel for zero spend as you could rinse the 3v cards through a savings account and get your money back.

Unfortunately with all the schemes that gain popularity it gets stopped and this was stopped 2 weeks ago. The number of outlets that now accept 3v have been reduced.

If you are cash rich and wish to preload all your utility bills then great and save a a few pence per litre.

But the real credit should go to the posters who posted months ago that you could get free fuel.

Thanks for simplifying it. I now know three things:

    1) It works for diesel as well as petrol, but the percentage saving will be smaller.
    2) It's only useful if you are happy and it is convenient to buy fuel from Morrisons.
    3) It looks like a lot of effort to save a small amount of money (for me about 50p per 3V card I can be bothered to purchase and then spend).
  • So I've got to walk to Cuba, teach the dog to talk, have 16 different cards, visit 36 websites and flirt with the Morrissons petrol station lady to save 4.7p?
I'll pass.I've got wallpaper to put up.
Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.
