Think I will carry on eating and drinking til Monday, then start my new healthy life - I am thinking of getting the Morphy Richards soupmaker - does anyone already have one who can recommend/not recommend it, and has anyone seen it for a better price than £39.99? TIA

If you have a saucepan and a stick blender or blender it will do exactly the same job and save you £39.99

and if the Morphy Richard is a sealed unit when in use I cant se how can you reduce the soup to get the right consistency

    a bit of a gimmick I think

it looks like a hybrid between a kettle
and a blender and I wold not fancy making soup in a kettle

Hi all: New Year's resolution: Post more even if I don't think I've got anything useful to contribute :) Hope I haven't missed too many glitches.
Just got back from a fantastic New Year 2 day break MSE style for family of 4:
Overnight stay at 5* Metropolitan Hotel, Park Lane, panoramic views over Hyde Park - £18 per room (Grabbit glitch)
Transport: All day hop-on/hop off Thames River boat cruise completely free thanks to Travelzoo offer and code via Grabbit
Meals - 2 course set lunch at Bank Restaurant (mostly paid for with 2 x Club-Individual cards which came pre-loaded with £20 each, thanks to Freebies board)
Train travel to London - almost free thanks to Redspottedhanky codes accumulated during the year (MSE newsletters).
Dinner at 5-Star Hilton Hotel (paid for using BuyaGift vouchers originally bought when a different offer was half price and combined with a code (via codes board), but almost due to expire so exchanged for 4 meals with wine at Hilton (added £10 cash)
Extra drinks/sandwiches etc picked up at Tesco Express using £40 moneycard sent to me after Tesco messed up their pre-Xmas clubcard promotion (I only emailed them about it after seeing a thread on the Food board).

Amazing 2 days in London, would not have been possible without MSE - You've gotta love it when a plan comes together :beer:
And what a plan - well done :T:T:T

I just use my stick blender. I'm too tight to buy a soup maker :rotfl:

Yes, she did. No,didn't have the snip as DD didn't want to take the chance. She's just over 2 1/2 now and going on 20 she chatters on, her vocab is brilliant. (and yes, I know that I am biased!) We know that she talks with a very slight 'ish' but others don't notice it - they are just amazed at her wide vocabulary/counting ability etc. DD is pleased that she didn't have it done. A couple of hiccups in breastfeeding but nothing that was insurmountable. Sorry if it's tmi!

She and her sister have just gone home after a couple of nights sleepover, oops DGD2 said that they are called 'slumber parties' now!

Oops sorry for saying "he" getting my DGDs mixed up. :o

Thanks I will pass info on. It was a long labour and I think she was just too tired to try to feed yesterday. Both sides of the family have tiny features not sure if that has anything to do with it but she did start to poke her tongue out a little by yesterday evening which I think is a good sign. :)

Thanks, I do have pans and (several :o) blenders, but I like the idea of throwing all the veg in and 20 mins later you have smooth soup. They get mostly great reviews but I am trying to resist, honestly ..... I keep visualising myself as a soup-making, jogging-going,healthy-living superwoman. The reality is likely to be somewhat different - a chocolate-eating, wine-slurping, well-meaning couch-potato (who owns a dusty soupmaker :rotfl:)
    Lol, so like me!!
But you need to change your name to 'don't buy it all' ('cept for the wine & chocs) then you'll have less dust collecting items taking up space!
