Sorry Cagsd I don't agree at all...
Not really - I vote with Cagsd too. It just didn't feel right having this subject discussed without adding a little angst
What Cagsd suggests does sound like the best all-round solution, and lovely to see us mainly agreeing for once.

Hahaha a bit of angst never did anyone any harm!
Glad to see that we all agree for once, now it just remains to get the BGs to look at the issue again! xx0 -
I agree with many of the points raised here and in other threads relating to this subject.
Obviously we can't please every single FM and also we can't have everything just tailored to our own personal wants.
However logic and reason tell me that it shouldn't be putting anybody out, if the following were to happen:
1. Every mag daily comp were to be posted on the main board BUT if the same comp is running on multiple mags, these should all be listed in the same post.
2. The mag daily thread should revert to how it was before December, with direct links to the mags and not to the main board.
I can't see how either of the above points could upset anybody or put anybody out, nobody would miss out on a competition any more due to not visiting the mag thread, BUT those who like doing the mag dailies could have things easier and quicker. As I have previously mentioned, going direct to the magazines *could* mean missing out on comps that are not listed in the normal prize draws, which was what led to the whole shenanigan here. The list on the mag thread meant that we didn't miss out.
Anybody with me??
I agree that this would seem to suit the vast majority and so far no-one seems to suggest it won't work ....Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli
Thank you to all who post competitions & help the smooth running of the comps board0 -
The idea in principle is great, but how would it work? From what I've seen, different people have taken 'ownership' (for want of a better word) of different mags. So how could all of the links be in the same post?Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

can i ask - politely - why those who post the mag dailies never comment on whats being discussed? wouldnt it be easier if people knew what they thought on the subject?0

They can't (easily) be on the same post without a fair bit of effort from the posters, but they could be on the same comp thread
e.g. whoever spots the first one posts the new thread then as the same comp for the same prize is spotted on the other mags, they could be posted on the same thread.
So if you end up with the same prize on 6 mags, you'd have 6 posts on the thread, if you see what I meanBest win ever: Trip to the Galapagos Islands in 20100 -

Hmm... hadn't thought of that, it could be a spanner in the works. Although, as far as I can see now, there are only maybe 2 people that post mag dailies now since the shake up, so perhaps they could reach an agreement? Or if they can't, perhaps instead of one post for all seven mags, we'd have to have 2 - I'd still prefer that to 7, to be honest!0 -
Person A posts a contest with links to one mag. Person B replies to that thread with several more links. Person C adds another link.
Should work fine.Hi, I'm Mich

I know I said I like it as it is, but at the same time I'm happy to go along with whatever's decided. It's always good to try something new now and again2014 - £12360

I suppose if the person who starts the thread happens to go back to it, they could update the first post with any new links that have been added.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I agree with cagsd...
But my only concern is for those who post the dailies - it's all very well saying they should post the same comp in whatever thread is opened first, but... I'm guessing at the moment because they know what comps to post, they don't need to search the forum.
Surely they would need to search the forum for every comp they posted, if there was a risk that the other person who posts might have already posted for a different mag? And that would add to their workload in posting them.
I think the two thread idea would work - definitely better than seven...!0
