Love both the bag and the shoes. Really unique. Was it hard to do?
(I'm thinking pet mad people would probably like a dog or cat bag made with pages from a pet magazine.)

    Hi all

Been lurking put not much posting. Took a huge step yesterday and handed my notice in. It's a risk going onto teaching supply but I was getting annoyed with the supplies we had in who would let me do the graft as a TA and they get the pay. Don't get me wrong there are some good supplies but it was a case of i want to get back into teaching as my kids are older now and I needed a push!

I am so looking forward to getting back into thrifty ways. My main aim is to get my self a sewing machine, mine is dying! Then I'll be off! Someone asked me the other day did I have a business card for my party bag things which I stopped when I went into full time work.

Already picked up two bits for BIL Xmas pressie.
Don’t put it down - put it away!

Thank you, no wasnt hard to do really, just need to keep the pieces quite small so they fit around the curves and clip them so they lay flat. I think that is a great idea about the pets. I will keep my eyes open in the charity shops as some of them do old magazines

Firstly I assume it is a bought bag.....maybe not! and then the bag is covered in plastic to protect the surface?

I also thought gardening mags for gardeners, Countryfile/Lonely Planet for travellers both home and abroad etc etc.. you get the idea (There's a wealth of special interest mags out there and sometimes you can get them for £1 each or 3 for £1- look at the thread in 'shop don't drop' category) It would be a great idea to use with a shopper type bag.

Yes great idea Katie. The bag was a bought bag from the charity shop, cost me 50p. It isnt covered in plastic, it is just the special glue that you use to stick the paper onto it. Every time you stick a piece on you coat the top with the glue too. Then once you have finished completely covering it you let it dry then give it another coat of glue and keep doing that until you have given it 4 or 5 coats. It dries like a thick coat of plastic over the top. then spray the finished thing with some spray varnish just to give it a bit of an extra seal.
