K angela so mum's advent calendar is going to be musicals themed. Here's my list so far - suggestions gratefully received
1) hotel shampoo - gonna wash that man right out of my hair (south pacific, mum's all time fave - gift free)
2) bag of bird see with a 2p label - Mary Poppins of course
3) brown paper packages wrapped up in string - Sound of Music (thinking a couple of roses sweeties)
4) cadburys wishes - when you wish upon a star Pinocchio
5) mask for Phantom of the opera (left over from last year so free)
6) lion bar with crown - lion king of course
7) summer holiday - was going to put in double decker but colleague has given me a dinky toy bus
So since we're only end of Feb I've made a good start. Hmm wonder about a catering sachet of vinegar ditto jam for cabaret. too contrived? well she likes a puzzle so I can start easy...
Put it on the end of this otherwise may look a bit random in middle of post..

I'm not use to being the taxi service - realised how much dad does...
This morning had to take mum, (I had appointment as well) for foot check with being diabetic, - we both got the all clear, I go back 12 months, mum in 6 mths (her feet are swollen - hence there keeping an eye on it).
Tonight - Take DD to opticians for eye test - she wanted dad to come - could I park nearby no... dropped them off, drove back round, fab a parking space, tried to reverse park.... (no comment), after the 1st attempt the driver behind me was perping his horn... so I pulled into the road and turned the engine off, but made it look at though stalled the car....
I gave up after 4 attempts, drove on and there was a parking space right outside opticians - perfect (pulled in frontwards), I have never parked so perfectly in my life, the wheels were straight and both about 4 ins from the pavement - got in and our optician was running late... so dads chatting to one of the blokes who works there, - explained I was doing all the driving, - the next minute - there both outside the store looking at my parking...
DD - she hates clothes shopping, - found her niche - glasses - she had 10 pairs on the go.... then ended up with a different pair chosen by the person fitting her glasses, - there a thin metal almost retangle shape, in shiny maroon, they look really nice. Even thou shes only 11, she has to have an adult frame, so the opticians increase the value of kids voucher upto £84 - told her to go to £99. (she's having new glasses every 6 months), and the pair was £69 - so free...
With the money saved and the time (been in opticians an hr!), - took them to the pub for tea, - the one pub has an offer 2 mail meals or £7, (thou 3 of us, - do the 2 sets of meal and split the 4th).
Had 3 gammon, steak and ale pie, 2 pints, and coke - £22.
brought the one gammon chopped up for the dog...
Thou when we got back to the car had less space to get out as literally been tailgated in... so poor Grandad Hoodie was at back of car trying to get me out... I got on 5th attempt...
I know its a lame excuse - but I was never taught to reverse park it use to be a joke when I first learnt to drive couldn't do right turns, so for the 1st 6 months, the one route home was a right turn so use to drive a mile for a roundabout to come back on myself so I could turn left... Now turn right.!!
Rest tomorrow...
Money saving have just started knitting another shawl - doing this in black, ready to go with white one for friends xmas prezzie.
Fingers crossed - just checked on Miss Hoodies visa application and its been recieved (phew) now being checked - so fingers crossed) xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Blimey Mum2one, you had quite day of it haha. Glad Miss Hoodie found some nice glasses in the end. My YD is the opposite, she goes in the other day as had lost her ones and needs to take some with her for army course on Monday. Bloke said go and have a look round and choose, she said I know what I want and grabbed some off the nearest stand, they were blokes glasses lol, I said to her about them but she said she liked them and had them last time too so that's what she had. Bloke laughed, said he wished all his customers were that easy to please.
I am having a day in, might get some sewing done upstairs. I wore one of my dresses yesterday, I had made 3 of them them a while ago out of some really cheap fabric I got (three sacks full for £3) but they were a bit big on me where I had lost weight since I bought the original pattern so had to take them in a good 2 inches on each side seam. The one yesterday fitted lovely. Could have done with a thin top underneath with long sleeves as cardigan over the top didnt really go and the dresses are all short sleeves. I will have to have a look round the charity shops next time I go up town. Might make a bag today for the shop for a change.0 -
sounds like a really busy day for you mum2one, i hope the visa application goes through smoothly.SPC~12 ot 124
