Hi all
DundeeDoll - Cayman Islands, you have an unusual and interesting job to go places like that. I have a travel phobia and only just managed few miles on the train recently first time in years lol
You must have a good digestion to deal with the travel, heat and different food. I had a strange idea when I read about your possible destinations, you know those magazines that ask you to send in photos holding them in unusual places, you could be having his Thrifty Gifty thread on your phone or laptop over there lol
I've finally got the house ready for the furniture tomorrow, all I left is my bedding in the morning. I've just got a text they are arriving 2.45pm but I'm not taking any chances and getting up super early as there has already been one major change of plan and don't want to get caught out.
Trouble is once you start something you keep finding more to do eg I was screwing the smoke alarm back in the ceiling and discovered loads of cobwebs. Cleaning the carpets for the room where table is going, hallway and kitchen floors using dustpan and brush ( the vacuum was behind bags of clutter), getting living room ready and it was neverending. At last moment put hands under chair cushions in case anything valuable just in case they agree to take them away. If not I will be climbing over furniture in the front room lol
What I don't want to do is forget unopened financial letters which I put somewhere - heaven knows where. I will be faced with the declutter of the century next week.
Well done on your knitting. Will this be of the tardis or the doctor?0 -
angela it has been a very strange couple of years going from being so stressed walking downstairs brought on panic attacks (and certainly couldnt do escalators!) through marriage break-up to outting in for and getting promotion. So exciting travel opportunities really opened up last october with the promo. I like your suggestion re. Photos in unusual places.

Hope everyone ok, Grandad Hoodie had his pre-op today, Nanny Hoodie went with him, she was impressed, while they were waiting to be seen, (he had to have more x-rays as his current ones were too old last May), - they put him in a private bedroom, ensuite, go and help yourself to coffee from reception area all posh ones including latte!
He goes in Sat 7.30am, apparently ops start at 8.30am, not sure where he is on the list, - apparently he has to have sometime to eat and drink before he can go home, so fingers crossed he should be out by teatime.
Dundeedoll - Wow, never thought of the stocking as wedding favours, - thank you, they sound a lovely idea.
If anyone knitting - I found some tricoloured chunky wool 100g ball for £1 in our local Poundland, so thats some wool for another xmas prezzie going to knit a hooded jumper for 2yr old. Can cope with small sizes xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi all
mum2one, hope all goes well for grandad, accommodation sounds nice.
Well, after all that, there was a c....k up with the furniture arriving. It is now turning up tomorrow and they cannot take away anything. Brilliant  As for the road outside - like a building site. You can't make it up!!
As well as this I had an argument with mum on the phone. Apparently dad had a fall Sunday night but she didn't tell me. Her reason brought up a lot of issues. Sometimes I feel we both live in a parallel universe.
I've got a headache now and if I wasn't planning on washing my hair (seriously bad hair day today) this evening I'd go to bed now. Have to bring back the bedding I threw on DS1's bed back onto mine. Discovered the van people are coming in the morning ..apparently. I don't expect anything now. As for what's going to happen to my stuff if they don't collect it, don't care anymore. I will be climbing over it lol0 -
Angela - Sorry to hear about your dad, hope he goes on ok. Sounds like a sods law moment with the furniture, but fingers crossed for 2mor.
Ladies - ignore my recommendation for the wool, it is beautiful, but any pattern just eats and eats it up, I started a jumoer tonight, (back normally takes 3/4 100g ball 2/3yr old), I hadn't even got half way up the back and 1 ball had gone. If you get any you literally need double, which defeacts the money saving aspect.
So going to attempt to turn into a waistcoat and hope for the best!! xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Thanks for the heads up thumbs down re the wool mum2one i have finished square 10. Seem to have lost a stitch on route but it's a very forgiving pattern! All the best with your gd

Hi all
The furniture van has just left and I'm having a coffee.
The front room doesn't look as bad as it could have done - they forgot to bring one of the wing chairs and they will be taking it with them to sell as will be sorting the other house out all day. Early this morning I had the idea that the wing chairs may fit upstairs and moved things around in DS2's room and mine. So when the one chair arrived I thought it would go upstairs but turned out too big so is now in the front room in the position I had intended the mahogany round table to go.
That table is crammed in the dining room along with some spare chairs and a large swivel chair of DS2's and a mirror. I'll deal with that lot next week. The large table and chairs from the other house look great so I'm glad I took them.
I did a lot of moving around of stuff in the living room just now so it looks ok although a bit cluttered.
When they removed my bed to put in the garage I managed to dust the space and found all sorts of things - I couldn't find the broom but used a feather duster - swept it towards the dressing table so I've got to sort that out soon.
They took the mower and other stuff out into the garden so had to put that back and luckily ex was around to shove the bed further into the garage as they left it half way through the door although the mattress was inside.
I forgot to mention before, on my last trip to the other house I brought back a massive roll of Christmas paper, biggest I've ever seen. This is in addition to the smaller rolls I bought back on previous trips so am well stocked now.
DS2 will be coming home soon, driven by a support worker. Hope it's one that is familiar with the drive because often they aren't and get lost as the GPS takes them down farm tracks. And as my road is being dug up............you can imagine the fun. Fortunately ex called at 8 am to tell me they were taking the furniture to his brothers house first before mine but I told them better to do my house first as the massive diggers weren't there yet. Also glad it didn't rain.
That reminds me, there were some issues re the gift envelopes. I discovered they aren't used in the way it was initially intended anymore. I had a long talk with the girl that brought him last visit, she had known him for years knew how they were originally used. I'm going to talk to his keyworker next time I remember, too much going on lately to think about it.
I'll catch up on all your posts later, I must get on.
Hope you all have a good day.0 -
sounds like you are getting there at last angelaSPC~12 ot 124

Yes, I agree, does sound like it went quite well for you Angela. Good luck in sorting it all out now.
I am going to see my Dad this afternoon at my brothers house. I had hospital yesterday, consultant said its not fibromyalgia after all but tendonitis everywhere and he doesnt know why I am getting it and all they can do is pain control so had to have steroid injection yesterday and he is getting me an appointment at the pain clinic.
Took the new dog out this morning again, we went up to the sorting office to pick up a parcel, was some ink for the printer. He is pulling a bit on the lead but I am hoping he will get used to it soon and not pull so much. At least I can manage him.0
