TalkTalk Speedy Payment Discount

I noticed the Speedy Payment Discount in my email invoice this month. I didn't have problems with the email delivery times and I went ahead and got the discount.
It's a great deal but I'm wondering why they are offering it? I'm set up with Direct Debit. I can understand it if I was paying manually every month via card but why offer it when automatic payment is already set up?
I'm assuming this discount is only valid for one month. Do they want our Debit Cards on record so they can charge them if direct debit ever fails?
Perhaps I'm too cynical and TalkTalk are just a generous company.

I think this is an on-going thing as the website says "At TalkTalk we are always looking for ways to help you save money on your bills. That's why we have introduced the Speedy Payment Discount, saving you 15% on your monthly bills." Maybe the company rep could clarify?0

Thanks to all for spreading the word.
I really should READ my TalkTalk bill as I had no idea of this new scheme
I paid my Value Line rental 12 months in advance, just as last year, on 8th Jan in time for 16th. So all I pay typically is our monthly bill of £15.50 for Plus TV (we don't watch the pay TV)
My last bill arrived on 20th Jan and was £15.50. As we pay by direct debit, I saw the headline figure and ignored it.
Next month, I will be paying the moment the bill lands in my email inbox!
I will spread the word to other people I know who are on TalkTalk in case they are also "bill blind"

Received my email this afternoon, tried for the discount a few minutes later but I'm out of time.
If you check the talk talk forum it is full of complaints of this nature.
Apparently talk talk know say it's 24 hours from when the email is generated, but the email says 24 hours from when it's received. My email arrived 2 days after my bill was generated.
So, this offer is not all it seems.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013

But as you say the offer really makes no sense from their POV - they're using a more expensive payment method and giving a 15% discount just to get the payment a few days earlier.
Unless they want to advertise a headline low rate ("you would only pay £xxx if you use the speedy payment discount every month"), knowing that not everyone will be able to respond in time to get the discount every month.0 -
You could log in to your account around the time of the month that you know your bill will be first generated and catch the discount in time without waiting on the email? But then the bills may not be generated on exact same date each month so it's a bit of a hassle. Strange way to do business indeed!0

It does say......within 24 hours of you receiving this email. Not ......a 24 hour period where you could, if your lucky, catch the bill being generated.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013

I also had some problems making payment 2 hours after the email but looks like this issue has fixed.0

I've just paid mine and I got a confirmation email saying 'Remember, as you have got a Direct Debit set up on your TalkTalk account, your regular bill payments will still be requested from your bank account as usual.
I hope they don't take it...0
