I did the test without him knowing then was shaking as the words 'pregnant 1-2 weeks' appeared. I went to where he was watching the end of the match on telly, sat next to him and gave it to him. He looked shocked and amazed, and I said 'we're going to be parents'. :) Only 10 weeks to go!

The nearest was the 3rd option, we lived on a small island, and had no chemist! So if you think you are preggy there you go to see the gp...
I told him i was going the 1st & 2nd time, the 3rd I didnt until after I had a scan, as I had a lot of bleeding and the gp thought I had had a miscarriage.. So I had a wait of a couple of days until I had the scan.

I voted option 3. Having struggled to conceive all our children I must have done more than a hundred pregnancy tests all negative in my time! My poor husband would have spent a lot of time in the bathroom watching me perform had I subjected him to 1 which might have changed the dynamic of the relationship somewhat :)

But serious point if you don't know for sure you are pregnant (ie if you haven't done a sneaky test beforehand) surely it's a massive anticlimax to do a test with your husband and see it stay resolutely white?

1st time, I started off letting him know I was doing a test, but it gets really hard to say when it goes beyond the 6th month of saying it.

Was shaking when I finally showed him a pee soaked stick. Had taken years to get it.

2nd time, OH had listened to me whinging about my ailments and said "you aren't pregnant are you?" I processed why he said what he'd said, so went out to buy some tests, so he knew I was doing the test that time before I did it. Bless her, my happy accident then came along 7 months later.

I have been peeing on lots of sticks recently...ovulation sticks though, not pregnancy tests. He has sometimes seen me do this if he happens to be around so I wouldn't feel at all uncomfortable about doing a pregnancy test in front of him. Whether I will or not, I don't know....let you know when it happens!

We didn't expect to come back from honeymoon with baggage on board & so it took a while for the idea of a test to sink in. He suggested it. I chuckled. Then got a test & found out in private.

And pretty much mugged him with "how did you know?!" hugs.

Baggage was named within the half hour (if a boy) & we bickered for months of what to call a girl. Then never needed it...

Good luck to all those holding sticks & wondering a bit!

I never told him before I took a test, like others we were trying for a long time so there was lots of tests!

When I did the positive one it was five am, I woke him up and said 'can you see two lines' 'no' 'look properly' 'oh yeah' 'so I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant' 'that's great!'. And then he fell asleep again, the excitement being clearly too much for him lol

  • I've had 3 babies and never took a single pregnancy test, there wasn't an option to vote for that.

My periods were so regular and we weren't using contraception, so to miss one then start to feel a bit queasy/dizzy was confirmation enough for us.

However, it was nice to see them moving around on screen at the 12 week scans and check there wasn't more than one in there!

DH was working away. I tested and got a positive. I tested another 3 times just to check.

Had a few days to try and get my head around it. On the day he was coming back I did a new test, popped it in a box and waited for him to notice it once he got home. That 25 minutes felt like a week!!!
