Hi Goldiegirl and thanks for posting :D

You should de-lurk more often :) We definitely sound like we are on the same quest for clutter free homes that have only the important:- useful/beautiful/sentimental items in them. I too have been decluttering for a long time now - i think my previous diaries probably have me talking about it too :o I do feel now that i am getting to a really good point with it all and my method of complete declutter 1 room at time and that room broken down into sections is really working :) I have sold records and albums in the past - which is why i am at the point of wanting to keep all the ones i have - for now - if i don't use the record player in the summer they will all go

Good Luck! With your sales :D Do you have any decluttering tips you want to share? :) i am always looking for new ideas and new ways to address things :)

Thank you re. the application but i am current assignment panic mode at the mo.

I generally only lurk on this part of the forum, as I always feel a bit sheepish about posting, as I don't have a mortgage anymore.

But I do enjoy reading what everyone is doing. People's mindsets are very similar to my own, as I'm in preparation for early retirement next year, I want to make every penny count !

I saw on another posting that you were preparing listings for the next FLW. I do that as well, I've always got photos and listings ready, so I can get them on eBay at a moments notice.

Regarding decluttering tips, I find having a target keeps me focussed. Last year, my target was 365 things, (or batches of things) to be de-cluttered throughout the year. I think I did about 380 in the end. This year I'd like to do 300, and that might be pushing it a bit. The majority of the things I have left are 'big' things, that have been in the loft for many years. I don't like to get too many things down from the loft at once, as it re-clutters the house. So I just get a few bits down, eBay them, and then get a few more. But its a slow process,

Not like about 4 - 5 years ago, when piles of stuff would go out every week - I almost miss those good old days !:rotfl:

Hi DDFW! I agree with the need for *some* spends, to stay respectable at work, and to feel good about being there - the amounts you've spent are very small, in the scheme of things. Hope the study and the assignment are going well.

Goldie - hi! I'm in exactly the same position as you, no mortgage (except an investment property I'm paying down fast) and preparing for retirement - and I've started up my own diary on mfw! The DFW board, that I migrated from, I would've felt odd doing it on there, but mfw feels much more flexible, and its as friendly, so why not :) I know what you mean about the decluttering - after you've been doing it for a while, the easy stuff has gone!

Totally get that it was easy to declutter the easy stuff. Have stalled a bit. So am re-thinking strategy. Need to get going again. Dedicated's thread is fab for the motivation - if Dedicated can do it I can:rotfl:
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • Hi All :D,

    I am completely shattered *yawn*

I will hopefully reply in more detail in the next day or so when i get more on track with things here

Goldie - you should post as i am sure you've lots of inspiration and support to offer :D

It has been really lovely popping in just now and seeing all the lovely posts - as i say i'll do a better reply tomorrow when my eyes can stay open

Yesterday i had a terrible time with the dizziness and when i got home from work i felt quite ill - it was awful trying to read the computer screen :( Anyways i finally cottoned on to the fact that usually after a dizzy spell i do feel very ill so that explained that :) But feeling ill and having recurring bouts of dizzyness really held my assignment up - i submitted it a few hours late - about 2.30am  and then was up at 5.45am for work :eek::eek: and have just got home

I've also had a rotten week with something thats starting to feel like its going to become an ongoing issue :(

Anywho's it really has cheered me up seeing all the lovely messages :T

And i am over half way through the last wardrobe section :T:T:T

Hope all of you are well and i'm sorry i've not had chance to catch up any news x
