The little annoyances of Christmas

It is like who can rack up the biggest leccy bill round my way. Tacky ott lights strung round every possible bit of wall on peoples homes. Urghhh. I have a real dislike for blue xmas lights. They look really stark and cold! The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

You should see some of the Christmas lights round our way. There are houses where you can tune in on your car radio and listen to the music, and the lights dance in time to it! Mad!
I've actually cut back on decs this year - I've never been one for loads of decs, but this year it's just the tree and a couple of glass tabletop decs. No lights outside at all!0 -
Everyone expecting you to be happy and jolly because, "it's Christmas!"
No, ta. All the enforced frivolity pees me off more.*** Thank you for your consideration ***0 -
I love Christmas. We put up our decorations a couple of weeks ago. I finished the village scene complete with fake snow when the kids had to go out, then I went to the shop. I got the duct tape I was looking for, queued for ages then hopped into the car to come home.
That's when I realised some of the fake snow must have stuck to my hand, and I evidently swept my hair back off my face at some point, leaving little clumps of snow along my scalp, in my hair and on the shoulder of my coat.
It looked like the Worst. Dandruff. Ever.
That sort of annoyed me.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I love Christmas but don't like it when people put trees up in November.. the other thing I don't like is how busy shops become, I do most of mine online for that reason. OH and I do go into the city for a day in December but we usually only have a wander around, have lunch, go to the Christmas market etc rather than fight with people in the shops lol!!
I don't send cards but they don't annoy me..0 -
Glitter, loathe the stuff.
A friend sent me a Christmas card 3 years ago which was completely covered with hexagonal pieces of red glitter (slightly bigger than "normal" glitter). It was sent through the post, so by the time it arrived it had been well bashed, and so when I opened the envelope a shower of red shiny stuff scattered everywhere. I found yet another piece at the end of November (this year) Ok, I may be a slobladybut I do vacuum relatively frequently! But this stuff.....not sure what it's made out of but you know when they say that the only thing in existence after the apocalypse will be cockroaches? Nah, it'll be this glitter - and the card confetti that some people use

Christmas songs on a loop in shops, in particular off the wall versions and ive heard a few this year, drive me mad
I was grocery shopping last Tuesday and the loop was slightly speeded up, so all the songs sounded slightly manic - by the time I'd got to the checkout I was ready to scream
I don't do a "Christmas shop" (groceries) - that's my minor annoyance - these days, the shops aren't closed long enough to warrant a "Christmas shop" so why feel the need to cram every cupboard with enough food to withstand a month's siege?! I have, however, got to do a small "normal" shop and I'm dreading itI know the shops will be packed
Still trying to decide when to go.....

I love Christmas, I love decorating the house with foliage, and real flowers. I love candles.
I dislike the confetti stuff some people put in their cards, and when you open them, it is all over the floor. I hate the crowds in shops so do all my shopping online, and am usually all done by end of November. I hate supermarket shopping so do all that online too.
Love socialising, and so, much of December is given over to meeting up with old friends, current friends, colleagues and family. I try to think positive and not to dwell on life's minor irritations be it January or December.
That said, the sellotape end is always a trial!!0 -
My only annoyance is people having a moan. I was doing a big shop today and a charming woman behind me starting cribbing about how ridiculous it is that people go daft, buying loads of food etc when the shops are only closed for one day. She said people obviously thought the world was running out of milk, she was being really pointedly rude as we had loads of milk on the belt. My shop wasn't even for Christmas, my cousin and OH's cousin are coming to stay this weekend so there will be 9 milk guzzling kids in my house for two days.
The same with the charity Christmas card thing. I used to be really annoyed in my old work because the girl who did a charity donation instead of cards and postage costs got slated yet the one who didn't bother because she couldn't be bothered (her words) didn't as 'it's up to her'. People are just picky.0 -
