The little annoyances of Christmas

I send lots of cards out but mainly as I have a mate in the postroom who for a six pack of ale will frank and post all my cards. Less than a tenner to send out 100 cards is a bit of a bargain.0

People thinking its terrible that I don't have a tree up - there's no space!
Am so on your page!
Last time we put a tree up, I wasn't able to watch the TV properly as the only space that we can put it is by where I sit.......added to which we got mutt 2 years ago and we're still not convinced he wouldn't try and pull it down (he's a beagle and he does so try to be good but.......)
Usually just put ornaments up but haven't bothered with that this year either.......at least that way I don't have to make the 'can't clean the house because of all the clutter' and 'doesn't the house look bare' comments!2014 Target;

People reckon I hate Christmas - I don't, seriously, but I hate being made feel guilty about not doing or spending money on something that any other time of the year people wouldn't make a comment about.....just because its Christmas2014 Target;

Supermarkets having to be open 24 hours a day.
The tinsel on the carpet you sweep it up and more comes.
losing the end of the sellotape.
soaps being on, they should take a break at christmas, its all doom and gloom anyway.
people saying are you ready for christmas.
snow scenes on the adverts it never snows at christmas. :rotfl::footie:0 -
The only thing that annoys me at Christmas is that we have no children, so we don't get to play Santa (but we're working on that).
Apart from that, I love it all. Even writing the cards, and I never lose the end of the sellotape. I probably annoy everyone else by being a bit overexcited from the start of December onwards.0 -
Glitter, loathe the stuff.
My husband insisting we buy a load of cheese 'just in case somebody fancies some.' What? Nobody on our side of the family has ever started craving cheese on Christmas day, and I haven't noticed much demand on his side either. I wouldn't mind but there's a fridge full of food to eat, I can do without a load of short dated soft cheese taking up space and wasting money.
I think I've just about won the war on this one, I tell him I'm happy enough for him to have his cheese, but wait for the gap between Christmas and New Year when we'll sometimes have it for lunch with biscuits.Make £2025 in 2025

I love Christmas so there is not really anything that annoys me about it.
My family all send or give cards to each other and, yes, we buy ones that say "mum and dad", Sister and Brother in Law" etc. I don't see anything strange in it.
Me and OH send each other cards too and always buy each other something even if it's only silly little things to open on Christmas DayThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
I do hate the way that almost every item of food in the supermarket has a Christmas wrapper, even the butter wrapper has a picture of holly on it. Butter is hardly a festive item, if you buy it at Christmas, you probably buy it all year round.
Biscuits and savoury crackers that are in a very expensive box, with only a few of the ones that everyone eats and loads of the horrid ones that end up being thrown out. I just buy normal packets and store them in my old Quality Street tins!
Quality Street and other sweets now being sold in horrible plastic boxes with ill-fitting lids. And they're so much smaller than they used to be.
"Luxury" crackers with useless nail clippers and tiny measuring tapes in them. Give me a cheap cracker with a "magic fish" anyday!
Soap characters dying at Christmas, can't they just have a nice wedding/party/engagement etc etc, without a gory and entirely expected death?
Christmas TV mags with spoilers....by the time that you've read them, you don't need to bother to watch the programmes.

The materialism of Christmas - the past few weeks since my Nan died I've noticed this more and more (I notice it every year but this year it just seems worse).Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0
