Well 2lbs off this week :j Not a huge amount but a sensible level for long term weight loss. Now I just need to keep losing that amount each week.

I have been talking to friends that are slim and healthy and asking them about how they achieve it and have factored some of their approaches into my life. Also recruited a couple of them to come swimming with me so I will have company when getting fit.

It is strange but I really do feel as if I have turned a huge corner and I am determined to be fit, happy and healthy. I have wanted to continue with my studies and never felt confident enough to however I have registered for a part time Masters module and I am really excited about the future :D

Fantastic post - great to hear that things are going so well.

Well ladies - has spring finally sprung or was today just a little taster of things to come.

Who cares - today was fab-u-lous. One of those "great to be alive" mild winter/early spring days. 11C, blue skies, warm sunshine, spring flowers starting to bloom, birds singing - what's not to like.

I've spent a happy few hours with my boys at prop 1, pruning trees, clearing vines and brambles, a mediterranean style lunch of olive bread, salami, spicy sausage and cheese.

If the weather holds we will be gardening at prop 2 tomorrow. I've bought a cherry tree, some fruit bushes and a load of shrubs. Need to get them in soon.

My skin feels all glowing and tingly after all that lovely fresh air, even my knee feels a bit easier:D

Time for a little rest now, with a magazine and a nice cuppa.
  • Rummer - your post is so positive. Good luck with your studies and your positive attitude.

I also hope this brighter weather lasts a bit longer, I find this weather helps me look to the future, get fit and eat better as when it is cold and wet all I want to do is eat rubbish and sit on the sofa.

Oooohhh! What do they do? Is there a secret that we don't know about?:)

Fling is back and came straight round on Friday night - lets just say it was a good reunion ;););)
Spent all day yesterday with him and just got home (dirty stop out! Its ok, the dog came with me :p) to do some school work and a few jobs before I see him again this afternoon/evening.

Need to pop to Tesco for the week's supplies and then force myself to finish off some school stuff, not done as much as I'd have liked to do but the essentials are almost finished. I have a very busy week with lots of extras to do as well as teaching (reporting on data, moderation of marking, etc boring and time consuming but a part of my job) but I discovered yesterday its only a 6 week half term so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I've decided to have 2 days a week doing the fruit purge thing - felt so much better after it so I suppose its my version of the 5:2 diet, I'll spread them out through the week so it doesn't feel as much. Think the first one will be on Tuesday - Monday is always a hard day at work so I'll need fortification.:rotfl:

Right, off to do the shopping and then some more marking before beautifying myself (may take some time....)
    Have a good Sunday all!

WW Glad you had a lovely time with the fling, sounds as if all your fabbing was well worth it :D I really like the sound of the fruit purge, is it just unlimited fruit and loads of water?

LL How is your knee? Any better?

Teacher Did you enjoy the mountain biking?

This week will be a real test of my will power as my OH is off and I am often sucked into lazy days and junk food when he is off :o So I am determined to make sure I keep up the walking and I will use the fact he is home to get some gardening and exercise DVDs done :D

My friend has agreed to come swimming once a week with me and I have ordered the Hairy Bikers Diet books as they came highly recommend by another friend. What I want to focus on this week is some toning exercises as I have developed a very flat bottom and would like to get some of its curve back :rotfl:

Nice to hear that Spring has sprung and making you all feel loads better. We're still clinging onto what remains of Summer; not that it's been much of one and barely had two days in a row with any consistent sunshine - but often too warm and humid to be active.

I'm in the early throes of my own self-imposed health staycation: I've weighed myself and have a goal to lose just three or so pounds this week to get me over or closer to being 10 stone something rather then 11 something.

So far today I have done Day One of Thirty Day Shred and had breakfast of frozen berries and yoghurt with a sprinkle of some 'power seeds' (chia, flaxseed etc.)
I have a chicken to cook, so that's dinner sorted for a few days with salad or roasted veggies and I'm going to hunt out a recipe to make some roasted pepper hummus for lunch or to snack on with carrot sticks. Also plan to drink a load of water and cut down on the coffees (had one first thing not sure I can go completely without for the rest of the day but we'll see)

Provided I don't suddenly start to wane I will also go to a yoga class later on.

    Good morning all

Well today I have to stay in and await a parcel delivery so today will be "Life Laundering Day".

I've been so busy helping out the boys this last couple of weeks that I've neglected my own home and it's looking a little messy and cluttered to say the least. How do we accumulate so much clutter - I'm sure it breeds when you turn your back :rotfl:

So it's a good sort out today.

Pleased to say the knee is so much better now.

There's nothing seriously wrong with it, the bones and joints are fine it's the cartilage that is weak. I'm taking glucosomaine again to try and "plump" it up and doing some exercises designed to strengthen the supporting muscles. TBH what I really need is to lose some weight but I'm not having much success - must try harder!!!!

    Right tie to get cracking...…

    Have a great day:D

I have been shopping tonight and loaded up on fruit, veg and nuts for the coming week. For some reason I got in my head that I wanted something with ginger during my home health farm days, so bought a lump of that with the idea that I might blow the dust of my juicer and have a go with that next week with some apples or even some veggies (never tried that before), so will look around for some interesting recipe ideas.
    .

I am too chicken to stomach juicing veggies but hubby quite liked the spinach, broccoli and apple one (150g of spinach, 150g of broccoli and two apples). Then he went and broke our juicer :(

Half term over and done with. Wasn't the best, bad day with DS and the topped off with two really !!!!!! (effing ugly) days for me.
    Combination of things.
Was trying to grow my hair longer but since having the kids the kinks have got stronger and despite me blow drying it straight the minute I step outside it goes haywire. Shorter style can carry the kinky bits off better so until I have it cut I am hating my hair :o
Getting closer to 40. I am gonna be 39 next month. Not given loads of thought to turning 40 and whilst in many respects if doesn't bother me I think subconsciously I am sick and tired of feeling crap about myself and then even worse I am aging. More varicose veins appearing to go with the pregnancy ones.....right knee keeps playing up. Feel like my body is older than it should be :o:(

Anyway after having a pity party for me and Mr Self Loathing I've picked myself up off the floor and made a commitment to devote 20 mins a day to yoga and 10 mins a day to facial exercises. I will not let my perfectionism issues derail me. I might not be an uber bendy yoga devotee but it makes me feel good after I've done it and I need to stop being lazy and running away from stuff that is challenging to me.

I've enlisted a friend to help nag me to make sure I've done it (have done the yoga today about to do the facial exercises in a sec).

So onwards and upwards........I shall kick the @rse of my gremlin if it kills me.

Sorry I've not commented individually sounds like lots of fabulous fabbing going on.

I haven't ventured there yet either Bitsy, it still does seem so wrong to me and I am not sure I have the stomach for it.

I am on Day 2 of Boot Camp - I went to yoga last night and woke up with aching thighs today (in a good way I guess) and soldiered on with another session of Jillian and Thirty Day Shred. I might just have a walk later to ease out those leg muscles.

Could you not join a class Bitsy, it might give you more motivation if there's a time and a place set aside in the calendar that you have to get up and go somewhere. I know I can do yoga at home but I never do and I am sure I wouldn't work half as hard without a teacher / or other class mates watching.

Try not to dwell on the aging; it happens to us all - I am a good 'bit' older than you.
