I don't have children but I'm my parents favourite child. I'm way better looking than my sister and much more successful.

  • It is glaringly obvious and has been since I was born that I am my dad's favourite. It has made me feel awkward all through my life and my sister and brother have a fractured relationship with him.

I don't have children my self but I know my sister was always my parents favorite! She was/is a lot easier to get along with than I am, is a lot prettier and much more sociable, successful etc It used to bother me when I was younger, these days though I prefer it because it means they don't expect anything from me and when I mess up, no-one is really surprised :rotfl: I do prefer my youngest niece to the rest of my nieces/nephews though, does that count? :p

I wasn't asking if you love one child more than the other, I was asking you if you had a favourite. There is definately a difference.

I would fully expect all parents to love their children equally but surely it's human nature to have a favourite 'something' even when it comes to people. Loads of us had a favourite teacher at school or have a best friend this is just a more extreme version.

I have a daughter and a son, I love them both equaly but differently iyswim, I am probally closer to my daughter and see her more often but my son works very long hours so doesn't have much time to himself. It doesnt help that I live 200 miles away from them, My daughter visit 2/3 times each year and I stay with her ever 2 months, My son does pop around to see me at my daughters and we do stay with him at christmas.
I dont have a favorite as such but I am closer to my daughter

you could get diffent answers dependant on who you asked the question of....
I as a parent would say I have no favourites but I as a child would say without hesitation that I was the apple of my dads Eye but my brother could do no wrong in my mums eyes...my elder sister however was adored by both....our parents would always maintain that they couldnt be swayed.

Yes, as a child it used to be said that my sister was my dad's favourite and my brother could do no wrong in my mother's eyes. As you said, my parents also maintained that they had no favourites.
I love all my children in different ways but have no favourites.

Most parents will love their children equally but when the ozzie of favouritism comes up it is usually in relation to affinities one patent had with one child over another that makes them want to spend more time, money and energy on them.

My children are very different from each other. My son is far more compliant and my daughter is certainly harder work and requires more disciplining. But that's not to say that I love them differently, or prefer one over the other.

As everyone else I love them all equally. My favourite child though can change from minute to minute. The teenagers can go from being my favourite person in the world to the most irritating specimen of humankind in nanoseconds :)
