    Second hand bike?

I can see how your comments and suggestions can be very helpful but are you seriously suggesting that the OP's OH cycles to the nursery that it 2 miles away with a 21 month old baby strapped in? In this weather..?

OP already says she walks when her OH is using the car so for winters sake ( and that selling cars cannot always be instant) the selling of said car might be impossible...

Maybe car sharing in future with local Mums etc might be worth thinking about but not a snap decision to be made right now perhaps.

Sacha someone asked for your PayPal account - Every little helps...

I know it's a bit random...but some unions provide distress funds - exactly what that means i'am not sure... it's worth a phone call if your in a union and if they cant help they maybe able to point you in the right direction.

  • Do you have an MP or local councillor? Are you able to contact them? They should be able to tell you what help is available for you in your local area
Also do you have a church or mosque or something nearby? I'm sure they would help you with some food for a few days and maybe some money for the metre(s).
    Stay strong.

Go to your nearest salvation army and speak to the Minister (he or she will be Captain something), they will help in situations like this.

  • Seriously stop offering money to the OP. This has bitten people on the bum so often. Give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. The OP already has DRO and yet has failed to budget properly - you are not doing anyone any favours by giving them handouts instead of making them realise where they are going wrong.

I am surprised at Marleyboy for the suggestion he has been around long enough to know the many repercussions of giving money.

Sacha have you tried talking to your hospital chaplaincy, they are generally very understanding and not in the least bit bothered if you don't believe. I am positive you are not the only one at your hospital in this situation especially at this time of year.

I know it all looks bleak, it is a short term crisis with a long term solution (budgeting - yeah I know you heard this one before).

Tell your boss - they may have access to an emergency fund, tell your colleagues if they are friendly - just say you messed up and found yourself much shorter than expected...maybe they'll help, maybe they won't - anything to lose?

Offer to do small jobs, can you wrap presents for people, do their hair/make-up/ironing/babysit for their Christmas do, feed their cat/do an hours cleaning..any £ will help.

You helped me make a decision, I have some food I was going to throw away, but I'm going to offer it on our local freebies in case there is someone else out there in need.

    Good luck & merry christmas

OP, many NHS trusts have an employee assistance programme - basically a way of accessing all the advice that the CAB could offer without the queues. Your OH's work may have something similar. Can you find the number and give them a call?
