Sasha - I work for an NHS Trust too and I got paid today. Again, I'm sure you know when you get paid but are you sure its not today? Some Trusts might have decided to pay staff on Monday rather than today though which seems a ridiculous decision IMHO!
Not if they both work full time, on even Band 1 the take home of both of them would about equal our household income and lots are on a lot less. The point I am making is that people really can't help unless they are given correct information and we clearly are not receiving that as if what you say is true then the OP's gross household income is at least £36K.0 -
When you do get some more electric please make sure you turn everything off at the plug at night. I didn't realise that even whilst they are on at the wall but the appliance is off it is still using electricity xxx0

Agree. IF they work full time. I don't think Sasha has said that they both work full time? I might have missed it if she has. Maybe she meant £36k, not £26k?0 -
No definately 26k. I am top of band 2 (12 years service, 13 in Jan), am not registered but that has been my dream since I started and work 34.5 hrs pw. My OH has only just joined the NHS so is bottom of the rung and could only secure a PT contract (but the shifts are odd, hence the extra nursery day). People are making assumptions that I am earning 36k, which is not the case. Band 2 in my dept of work is ridiculous as I am able to do most things.....I can cannulate, bleed, catheterise, plaster, glue and anything else other than drugs. It is a fight we have been having for a very long time.
Anyway, that's by the by. We haven't been paid today, first time I can remember that our trust has decided to pay this late coming up to xmas, we were shocked too by this decision.
I can post an SOA but don't know how to properly!
I earned £1400, partner £1100
Nursery £500
Rent £775
Water £55
Gas £100
Electric £55
Car tax £96
Car Insurance £50
TV/Phone/BB £55
Mobiles £24
Council Tax £289
Food £300
Nappies/Wipes £50 (Despite hideous nursery fees I still have to provide these for there as well as home )
Present ordered 2 months ago but was out of stock and they decided to take payment when it was back in stock £55
Drive shaft for my car £150
Milk/bread/fresh veg over the past few weeks £30
This is where our money has gone this month but our bills are obviously the same and the car tax totally caught us out along with the repairs needed. There are some small things that add up, like our monthly payday take away which only happens on payday. This month it came to £20, and it was my OH's dad's birthday in the middle.
I hope I have added everything!0 -

I have tried but keep getting turned down. I have no idea how it works, it seems like such an over-complicated system!
FWIW, I don't live beyond our means. I am in desperate need of a haircut, it's almost to my waist and I hate it as it strangles me in bed, gets lent on, pulled, takes forever to wash etc but won't even consider it until things are a bit better. I need my eyes testing but won't yet as I know I will need glasses and these cost money. I don't go out, haven't since I was pregnant.0 -
Can someone at work help with claiming tax credits are you in the union as I believe they can help with things like that. Was your OH not working previously is that why you were turned down for help with childcare?:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

shop-to-drop, I am a toughie....up to a point. Anything I have had to deal with is fine. It's me, I'm an adult and I am responsible for myself. When it comes to my little boy, he has no choice in the matter, he is totally reliant on me to provide warmth and safety. Both of which I am failing miserably at at the moment.
I don't have any candles
god I really am just pointless and useless at everything. This is a very hard lesson I am going to have to work through.
What doesnt kill you makes you stronger. This is your wake up call. Now, learn from this. When you get paid, tighten your belts (and I mean tighten them..) for 3 months (12 weeks, you can do it) and get some money stashed for such emergencies. Get candles, get a calor gas camping stove, a torch and various easy quick meals and swear this never happens again.
I once sat through the night holding a funnel duct-taped to a length of tubing under a leaking radiator. We couldnt afford to have it fixed, it was leaking from the mains and we had no way at that point to stop it. Next morning, we got some mastic, broke a CD cover into little shards and glued them over the hole. We wrapped miles of duct-tape around it and that was the fix until 10 years later when I could replace the radiator.
These types of adversities happen. You have a tiny taste of a not very serious one....now, when you get out of it, ask yourself what you can do to avoid it every happening again..or if it does, what you can do to make it slightly less hard to deal with.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Phone the emergency social services number, explain the situation, please do it, all you need is enough money to get back into credit and to be able to heat the house and cook.
I thought that the fuel companies werent allowed to leave someone with no gas or electricity if they had a child or an elderly person in the house
Get that prepayment meter taken out as soon as you can and get onto a direct debit method of payment, you'll get discounts from most companies if you take both gas and electricity from them and if you pay by DD and no matter how much your bill is, a situation like this wont happen to you again.0 -
Difficult situation when your entire OH'S income covers only the housing costs (rent and council tax)0
