Desperate, desperate situation with no help

Get back onto british gas, tell them you have an unwell child in the house and that you need your fuel supply reconnected.
And they will laugh at her. What part of 'this isnt their fault' didnt you understand? They are not a charity, they are a business. The OP made a mistake and that mistake is going to cost her a few days of hardship. It is not for the fuel company to sort it out. If the OP needs power urgently, sell or pawn something of value. There are enough shops in the highstreet, take the TV tonight and a watch or other piece of jewellery tomorrow.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
Meet my best friend : YNAB (you need a budget)

Do or do not, there is no try....Yoda.

Dont call them. It is unnecessary and only invites further interference.
The fuel company is not responsible here. They did nothing wrong. They are not allowed to cut you off for non payment under those circumstances, but the OP ran out of the fuel through mis-management and mishap.
Unlikely to be allowed if there is debt on the account.
Adversities happen. The nature of this particular adversity is of less importance than the complete lack of resources to deal with it. The OP should deal with the initial crisis and then move on to ensuring that future crises are averted in good time, or weathered in good order.
We can agree to disagree on the social work issue.0 -

Cant really be bothered responding to someone who is making digs at me.
If you had read the entire thread, you'll see that she said that herself and her partner had already sold everything of value they had and theres nothing left to sell.0 -
We sold everything we could before taking out the DRO, on advice of the CAB, so we could clear some of the amounts to make us under the £15000 you are allowed to owe. We literally have nothing worth selling any more.
As for advances, I'm not sure how the NHS goes about this? I'm an A&E nurse, my OH works for our trust's patient transport service so we would both need to go to them but don't know if they do that sort of thing. I've never been in a mess bad enough to consider that but thank you for the point, may be worth trying to find out.
Nothing of value to sell, heres the post.0 -
So sorry to hear this OP. If you were local to me I would have no problem in buying you some credit for the gas meter, particularly for the sake of your child.
I do hope something gets sorted out for you, I would hate to think of a family getting through Christmas in such a predicament.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

At last some compassion rather than the nit picking that happens on here. Sacha28 when do you get paid? Are you local to Northamptonshire?0

op,can you give us an idea where you are?,
sending you hugs x0 -
I totally agree. The op is in dire straits and the last thing she needs is a lecture. I understand the need for budgeting advice but now is not the ideal time when she is so down.
I sent a pm earlier to offer help. I hope she comes back as I am really concerned and would hate to be in the situation myself.
Take care please Sacha x x x0 -
sacha28, I'm afraid I can't do anything to help, but just to say there are those of us that genuinely hope you get this sorted and feel for you and your family.
