ASDA Black Friday Nightmare

Welcome to MSE.
Christmas isn't now facing ruin and nothing to do with black friday, you just bought a faulty set, yes its a shame its faulty but you do get items that are faulty from new.
If I had received that letter it would have gone in the bin, its too long for a start, if it were me id take the refund and save up for a new 1.0 -
As a point of interest, just because you unplugged your TV from the aerial socket doesn't stop you needing to pay for a TV license! You still have equipment capable of receiving a television signal over the air.... your honour!:rotfl:
Ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law, which you are breaking!
Not if you don't have an aerial, which I don't. I COULD plug it into the aerial socket, but it would have no effect as there is nothing to which it can physically be connected. The TV Licencing people have confirmed this with me in writing. But bless you for calling me "your honour" anyway...0 -

Cancel Sky and multiroom go freeview and then you could afford a new TV after a month or two of sub saving0
-
I shall try and remember to call you 'your honour' too in future.

God bless you Valiant Serf - Have an extra spud to go with your Christmas Dinner, along with an extra (just the one) piece of coal for your Yuletide fire.
Sorry, OP... getting way off-topic now ;-) Mea culpa.0 -
You are correct, the rules used to be as you describe which is why you had to have the tuner removed or the tv detuned in the past.0

Keep paying the tax, son!

I have a really nice TV that only cost me about £120 as I bought it second hand. Your refund of £99 plus £15 voucher would almost cover that!
I suggest that you get one second hand - I'd say eBay is your best bet. Try to find something local so you can get a taxi to collect it or they might drop it off. Pay in PayPal to protect yourself. OP sign up to Kogan email, they sometimes send good deals through, cant vouch for the quality or service, but overall what I can make out they are a decent company0

When you get your refund, also ask them if they will give you a heavy discount on a new telly too.0
