Today was mostly about decluttering notebooks. Another large bag of rubbish thrown out along with a random box that's been lurking in the hall for several months. I need to start on my work stuff next, that's going to be quite a job but I'm determined to be ruthless with it all.
Oh, and my bag arrived! :j I love it.Need to take it out on a test run tomorrow methinks.
:www: MFW Wonderment: decluttering? stayed home & spent no money?
:coffee: Simple Pleasures: putting my newly refined and decanted handbag stuff into my shiny new bag
:heartsmil Burrow Building: Mr M went out to pick up some emergency rations and happened across a new florist - so now I have three jugs of flowers. I'm running out of room for them, I've had to put some of them in the bathroom. :rotfl:a penny picker upper. Had grand plans to do a whole lot of eBay listings but have spent most of the day out & about and too knackered to do it now. I see the free listings are running for another couple of days, so shall try again tomorrow.
First official outing of the new bag. It was a dream, so light! Rather excited about all the future adventures we'll have together. :smileyhea
Hot dogs for tea while watching Live from Space (stunning! Is it too late for me to become an astronaut?!)
In other news, I really need to stop losing half an hour each time I fancy trying to find something to watch on Netflix, argh.
:www: MFW Wonderment: took a brassiere I got in the M&S sale back and thankfully found a (much needed) replacement, which was £2 cheaper, huzzah! Some 1Poll action. Did some money plotting & planning for the next few months which should make life that little bit easier, shall do a bit more ruminating on it all before noting it on here for prosperity.
:coffee: Simple Pleasures: we went out to see the starling murmuration in the peak district, utterly amazing! But next time I'm going anywhere near thousands of birds swarming over my head I shall remember to bring an umbrella.
:heartsmil Burrow Building: not sure this really counts, but anyhoo, have spent an inordinate amount of time looking at tucked away holiday cottages (click here), would love to go on somewhere like that and spend a week painting and writing and roaming about the wilds. Not sure I've entirely convinced Mr Merle yet, but if he definitely declines to go then I'm going to see if my mum fancies a little break away.a penny picker upper. Another day out & about. So far we've saved £22 using the Two Together railcard, Mr M's started up a spreadsheet so we can track it.
All I can say about today is that I've never before been into a library where I thought I'd get mugged. So that's one to chalk up.
The recent hot weather has suddenly reminded me that I simply don't have the wardrobe to cope with it.I thought I'd get away with wearing the dresses I already have throughout spring but they're both too woolly, so Operation Summer Dress commenceth. There's no point spending another year suffering with inadequate clothing. The plan is to get two (if possible, but with all these high necklines about it may not happen, thanks fashion), along with another skirt (all my skirts are too dangerous in the wind without a coat to pin them down, oh dear). I'll probably get a skirt in Cath K with my vouchers, so that's that sorted. Found a dress today for £5 (hurrah! One down!), plus it's quite thin material so won't take up too much space in a suitcase/carry on, if the need ever arises.
Also found a sage green light cotton-material waterfall cardigan thing (if you know what I mean), which sorts out Too Warm For Cardigan/Too Cold For Bare Arms. Again, it's easily scrunchable so good for travel/fit in the handbag for later in the day. £5 in a charity shop, a bit more than what I'd pay out normally but it's brand new and looks fab (it should go with pretty much everything else I wear, hurrah!) so I can just about live with it.
Now all I need is sandals (a few pairs got lost in the Shoe Wreck of the other week) and I'm good to go. I think, I hope. I'm useless in warm weather, I like being wrapped up.
:www: MFW Wonderment: clever shopping, railcards, eating out of the freezer, some surveys done.
:coffee: Simple Pleasures: ginger beer on a sunny afternoon
:heartsmil Burrow Building: plotting lots of other lovely little day trips, love our railcard so much! We can get so many places quickly, cheaply and easily from here, I can't wait to go adventuring. Being clever with our meal plans & batch cooking is helping tremendously towards being able to do these extra little trips which keeps life ticking over nicely as we don't spend a lot on social stuff at the moment ~ life has just been a bit draining so we've gone a bit house mouse-esque, this is helping to remedy that quite a bit.a penny picker upper. Oh, addendum: came home & went through my wardrobe, liberated a (now ill-fitting) dress & blouse that will go on eBay. Possibly have two other dresses to put up but need to try them on again to make sure. No listing tonight but think tomorrow will be quieter so shall crack on then.a penny picker upper. Hi PM, how's your hip now? What with a new bag and new outfits, you must feel transformed!
Your train travels sound fun. I got a 3 year one last year so that I could take dd out and about. We've not used it quite as much as I'd anticipated, but I've still 2 more years to make the most of it.
Happy sandal hunting!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hello apple muncher! Well bizarrely it's switched over to my other hip now... I have a sneaking suspicion that it's a certain pair of shoes causing it (which might explain why it's coming and going). Shall be keeping a close watch on them in future & if that's it then they shall be sent off to the charity shop post haste!
But otherwise I do feel a lot more like my old self, hurrah
Two years is a lot of time to get use out of the card, even if you save a little amount then it's well worth ita penny picker upper. I find that certain shoes make my right knee hurt, so that is my barometer to get rid of them. I try to be ruthless - after all, why keep and wear shoes that cause pain? Fewer footwear choices, but fully functioning limbs!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
