  • Had some time away over the weekend for Mr M's birthday and we had a lovely time wandering in & out of museums and such places.

We also remembered our old trick of sharing lunches/dinners/desserts etc so we saved a pretty penny and although I bought a few more bits & bobs than anticipated - I always want to spend zero :p I was actually well below my Holiday Pocket Money budget, so I can live with it. I mostly bought things that I'll get use out of as well (cosy socks, tea etc).

Managed over 100k steps this week - massive improvement on last few months, as I've hardly hit 10k a day since November

Been pondering the little ways I can combat Current Affairs Madness, have already done some small things but I think it's time to hatch some Serious Plans when there's such dangerous daftness afoot! Even if it's simple things like getting super healthy so I can deal with stress better or have more energy to write yet another letter to my MP :p

:www: MFW Wonderment: payday today, checked over my accounts and moved monies over to my ISA (still on track with saving around £500 per month, and also have over £100 going into my S&S ISA).

Not counting the holiday spends (:o), I didn't buy much in January (I think the only large spend was on a few pairs of tights) - planning a similarly frugal February!

:coffee: Simple Pleasures: seeing pretty new places (especially when we took a random detour into a large park and came across a hidden old-style windmill!); copious amounts of chai tea; soft feather duvets on sleepy mornings!

:heartsmil Burrow Building: we've researched some new storage systems to use in the new house - basically we're going to make sure that EVERYTHING has a place to live, so no more losing odds and ends and everything being scattered about = tidier, happier house!

  • Weekend away sounds great and I love the idea of the new storage systems.

We have mainly been able to achieve this since being in our new house - and it's such a relief to have places to put things.

  • Oh MCI, I can't even begin to express what a relief it is to hear that such a life is possible!

How we've lived all these years without any sort of cupboards or decent storage is beyond me. I can't wait for a life that doesn't include tripping over various piles of objects gathered around doorways and basically every surface/spare bit of carpet.

  • Nothing much to report, I'm afraid! Have been well & truly taken out with some nasty bug. Too many things going on at once, and probably that weird virus thing from before just left me open to getting the first nasty thing that came along. Ugh. Starting to resurface now thanks to a cocktail of over-the-counter drugs :p

Have sadly almost used up all my amazon vouchers - bought Mr M's Valentine's Day present today. Must replenish my stock somehow

Almost used up last bits & pieces from the freezer, we've done quite well running that down before the move. Though I've really only been on bread the last few days :(

:heartsmil Simple Pleasures: tea and coffee and sugar has pretty much sustained me of late...

Saw a lovely female blackbird bopping about the balcony today though, lovely. :)

  • Thank you all for the well wishes :)

Insane few weeks but we're now all moved and pretty much organised! :T Have needed a hideous amount of pennies available to move but at least some of it is now filtering back through (council tax refund etc). Hopefully the majority will be worked out by the end of March but I need to put together a spreadsheet with a tally of what's gone on and work things out in more detail.

House living is suiting us rather well! There's actual space to put stuff, bliss :smileyhea

Better update later - no internet here and even worse, not much phone signal
