  • Hey Steph

Just checking in. You are doing excellently as always! Such an inspiration the way you're ploughing through that debt.

Don't beat yourself up if you feel things are slipping - the numbers speak for themselves, you're still managing to put us all to shame! I know the feeling though - I've felt a bit the same last month, bought lunch instead of making it a few days last week, made the odd random trip to the shop that I didn't need to do, etc. Determined to be a bit better this month. We'll get there!

That's the only downside of YNAB - having to start on day 1 of the month, regardless of your pay cycle. Your week system has worked so far, so probably no need to, but maybe it's worth playing around with a new budget set up in a different way, just to see if it'd work any better for you?

Hope you have a great evening xx

Hi Steph, thought I'd stop by and say hello.

You will be very proud to hear that I finally got planting this weekend, I did lettuce leaves, potatoes, spring onions and cherry tomatoes. Am very excited to get growing again as I haven't done much since having the children. They are growing sunflowers and cress.

    Hi guys,

Yes sorry. Been busy on the veg plot all over the weekend mostly due to the amazing weather and hubby being home.

    Hi all

So sorry I have been quiet the last week or so.

Been incredibly busy getting the veg plot up to speed and ready for the growing season, a lot of weeding, seed sowing and rotavating been going on.

Hubby is working for a different person this week so I have had to hold off on any debt repayments in case they are slow in paying at the end of the week. Hopefully over the weekend or beginning of next week I can make my first May payments.

Been avidly listening to Dave Ramseys channel to keep me inspired to get debt free so still on the wagon.

The Forecast is wet from tomorrow onwards so I am going to fire up my sewing machine. I have some outstanding Projects (Maddiemay/Dawnybabes) to get started and finished. It is so hard to stay indoors when the weather is good that I have let sewing slip a little too much.

I do have money paying sewing work to do though so I must crack on.

You may remember that I sent Hubbys Tesco Credit card a letter a few weeks ago asking for frozen interest and reduced payments. Have received a letter from them today but pretty useless. Just them asking for hubby to call them. What a waste of paper. I will ignore it and hope they write back with an offer.

Think I am going to default on the Virgin Credit Card. They agreed for me to make the reduced £74 per month payments and frozen interest ages ago but did warn me that they may need to file a default on my record. To avoid this they want something crazy like £800 by the 24th May. Unless I don't pay a lot of other bills there isn't really any way I can make that size of payment so I am just going to have to let it happen.

I am not overly worried about my credit file getting a black mark except for future mortgage applications. We never want to move from here but its sometimes nice to get on a better deal. Oh well, will have to wing it. Not much I can do to change the situation really.

Let me know if there is anything I can do.

    xx
  • Hi Steph

Lovely to hear from you. Glad everything is going okay.

RE the default from Virgin... that would suck massively since you're working so hard. I don't know much about it so I can't offer much advice but if I was you I'd certainly contact them again and see if you can come up with some kind of agreement. Even if it means cutting back on your snowballing payments for a month or two, perhaps paying the £800 over May and June is something you could ask for? It seems such a shame. I'm glad you're not worrying about it too much though, like you say it's not going to affect you so much - but you should still try and fight a compromise with them if at all possible.

Let us know how it goes.

    Take care! xx

    Hi Steph
Great that you have managed to get so much done outside while the weather held, it makes perfect sense to prioritise this way. We had lovely weather for our few days away, but it means that I have got lots to do outside and the weather will beat me:(, looking on the positive side the weeds will come out easier and I will not need to water the newly planted bits and bobs.

 to Virgin, I hope that someone else pops by with ideas for you:)

    Hi guys

    Thanks for your messages.

Have been fairly well behaved during my absence. Slight naughty night in the local pub which ended up costing more than I had planned but not enough to re-rail me.

Not been posting from a mixture of being very busy and also still waiting for hubby to get paid..

Would usually have had hubbys wage last weekend but as it was a different person he was working for, we are still waiting on the cheque or bank payment.

Thankfully, this weeks direct debits are being funded by our £500 savings that are in the same account. Thank god for that otherwise I would have missed Council tax and a few others.

Looks like my YNAB system is already working. Then when the cheque finally arrives it will replace the missing savings.

Got an annoying letter from my Mortgage company saying my deal is now over and my monthly payment has gone up by £90 .
Trouble is as I am not yet on Direct Debit with them, and missed a few payments late last year, I doubt very much they will consider putting me on a better rate, especially if this bloomin Virgin Default goes on my account .

Looks like I am going to have to suck it up.

Not been able to make a single payment yet against debts, but should still meet my targets they will just be later on in the month.

Craft making today trying to catch up with overdue orders.
