Thanks for all your positive posts guys I really appreciate it.
Had a quiet weekend in the Stressed household. Although we did have a little splurge yesterday when hubby won a Rotavator on Ebay. It has been abit of spend money to save money.
Around 2/3 times per year we hire a Rotavator from our local hire shop. It costs us £50 per day and we often struggle to get it all done in just 1 day.
So hubby has been on the look out for a cheapish one on Ebay.
Well we drove to East Devon yesterday and picked one up for £150 .
I already had £100 saved for Household items, so I have just had to juggle around to find the £50. BUT......hopefully this rotavator will make its money back in one year and then it will be saving us money every year after.
We have a massive veg plot so it is really quite a vital item that we needed. My poor back can't cope with dogging over an area probably 200ft x 50ft.
YNAB is all balanced with my Bank account. All quiet now under May's wages start coming in but all April bills are paid and as much over-paying off debts that I could do has been done.
Onwards and upwards into May.
Realise that about 1 million Tomato plants have seeded in my polytunnel, so I am going to pot up a load and try to sell them on my flower barrow in the front garden. Might make a few pennies for the pot.
Still listening to Dave Ramsey loads on an app from my phone. Some of it doesn't make sense as its all US related things but an awful lot of what I like is his common sense and love listening to his advise to people. He doesn't mess about hehe.
Hope you are all well.
Speak soon xx0 -
Steph - you've had an amazing April, I hope May is just as good for you!!!!
I'm really jealous of your veggie plot. I did get a plot on an allotment, but I just didn't have the time to work on it and I found out I was expected DD a few weeks after getting it. I do some veg for this summer - I have tomato seeds, lettuce and spring onions to grow. I must get moving!!!0 -
Hi all
Thanks for stopping by Chanie. I have tonnes od work to do in my polytunnel and Veg plot. I must get going too
Not much to report today. Bank account is quiet and just waiting on hubby wage to come in this weekend.
I will have money to put to debt repayment at the next wage, but I am going to hang off. Hubby is doing work for someone else next week and its always a worry in case they don't pay quickly.
So I will sit on the extra cash until hubby gets the following wage from the new customer and then I will make lots of payments.
Hope that makes sense hehe.
I have vowed to tighten up even more during May. I have slipped a little and I feel myself slipping increasingly more with little silly purchases and stopping at corner shops for extra bits of food etc.
Annoyingly just had to write a £50 cheque to cover childrens School swimming fees and sons football club. It all adds up doesn't it.
Anyway off now. hope you are all doing well xx0 -

Hi Steph, I could have written this - it just sums up exactly how I am at the moment
Having a wee catchup of your diary and you are doing fab! Good that you're thinking ahead and keeping hołd of money in case hubby doesn't get paid on time. I'm bad for being a little too enthusiastic with debt repayments and not leaving quite enough for everything else.
Good luck with your May targets and selling those tomato plantsMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £105,664.31
Mortgage overpayment savings - £16.08/£50

Hi all
Hi MissTara. Hopefully we can keep each other on track. I like the beginning of a new month, because if I have gotten into a new bad habit, it is nice to say "ok, new month, clean sheet, from now on I will NOT do X again".
That is what I have said to myself and I will be trying my best to not pop to ANY shops in between my normal grocery delivery.
Hi SGM,
Thanks so much for subscribing and reading my diary.
Do try YNAB, it is amazing, you will need to watch some of their tutorials and maybe read the forum they have to really get the understanding of how it works. But once it clicks, it is life changing xxx0 -
Just checking in.
Not much to report really.
Direct debits are going out but no extra payments available to make so far.
Been abit tripped up with YNAB this week. Because we are paid weekly, I have set my months up with 4 week months.
Well April turned out to be nearly a 5 week month, so I have some decisions to make.
I decided that this week would still be part of April and May will start this Saturday on the 3rd.
Been abit confusing but getting there I think.
Nothing else interesting happening to will check out.
Speak soon x0 -
Keep up the good work Steph, youre doing fab xxMummytogirls x0
