Keep at it Steph. I know it seems like forever but just look how much you have left, that's not a lot compared to where you've come from X

  • You have paid off LOADS in such a short time Steph!

Do you realise that when I came here in Sept 2007 and I was 25000 pounds in debt? It took me till June 2011 to pay it off.

and then in in 2012 I borrowed 7000 and only paid it off this March!

You are doing so bloody well. I know the juggling is a pain in the !!!! but it cuts down the time in the long run and the money. It is working, you are getting out of debt.

You ARE getting out of debt

    big hugs XXXX

  • Thank you so much everyone. Your messages felt like a BIG virtual hug :)

Just checked and the balance transfer to my Mr T CC has gone through (£2300), that should leave about £1600 remaining.

That should take the sting out of Mr T's tail and I will carry on making the same minimum payments of £100 pm to them so it will keep going down at a decent rate until it is next in my snowball.

I have a confession though :o. In a silly impulse buy, I bought the children a large wall mounted basketball net and ball from Amazon. We have the perfect place for it to go and I just couldn't help myself.

From the moment I clicked the button I felt guilty for such an extravagant purchase when we are tight for money. It cost £55.

It arrived today and as much as I would DESPERATELY love to give it to my children when they come home from school today, I think my sensible head is going to take over and I have put it in the shed hidden and will call it the first Christmas present.

I think that is the best thing to do, they will still get it but they will have to wait for father Christmas.

    Do you all agree?.

I can be so impulsive sometimes. I get very annoyed with myself.

Not a whole lot on today, got to bake some cakes for school tuck shop tomorrow and prepare dinner but not much more. Have tidied around and mopped the floors this morning.

Had better get on. Speak soon x

Yes, save it for Christmas, what they have not seen they cannot miss, and instead of berating yourself for impulse purchases, you can have a pat on the back and polish your halo a little for getting organised with the "C" shopping.:rotfl::rotfl:

Cold but lovely and sunny here, Autumn colours are fantastic, just had a few nights in Wales in caravan, had a great time, but shattered trying to do lots of tourist things. I push myself too hard sometimes, because I am so conscious of spoiling things for OH as well as the plans I had hoped for myself in retirement (value good health when it is around, it can be a bit fickle sometimes:eek:)

Can you remove your card details from Amazon? At least then you'd need to re-enter them when you want to purchase something, which might limit the impulsivity. (We did this with FIL to curb his spending altogether, but he buys something not remembering that he already ordered 5 of the same thing yesterday/last week.)

Also, I think it may have been mentioned before, but I try and limit my impulse clicks to "add to wishlist". Once a week or so I go through my wish list and see if anything jumps out at me - if it does (and it's been at least 24 hours since I added it) then I know I really want it (and have to figure out how to pay for it). Most of the time I delete things off the wish list, though, as a few days later it doesn't seem so must-have.

This makes sense - if they don't know it's been here pre-Christmas they won't miss it. :)

I posted a very self pitying post yesterday, and when I re-read it later I felt quite annoyed with myself so I deleted it :o.

Feeling a little more upbeat today, got work this morning and then hoping hubby has been paid by his customer by cheque (), so I can dash into town to pay it in.

Money is tight as always but hoping to scrape through until this cheque clears.

Not much else to report. Speak later x

Ah well, perhaps writing it down made you feel a little better about things, helps sometimes.
