 I hate it when that happens Kelpie. My laptop is on its last legs and often just shuts down for no reason, I often lose whole pages of typing.

No stress if you don't have time to reply. xx

Good heavens Lhead, that is a nightmare. Our cam belt broke on our truck two years ago and it ended up costing us £1800 . We ended up having to pay it (on a new credit card :-( )as we had no extra money to put to it to be able to buy another car. I will keep my fingers crossed that it is just a relatively simple fix. Good on your hubby being able to tackle the alternator fix.

What will you do if the cam belt is broken?. Can you manage without a car for a while?. We are a 2 mile dangerous country road to school and a 4 mile walk to a shop and we only have a bus once every Tuesday so we live in fear of our car breaking down badly during our debt busting period.

Let me know how it goes. xxxx

I'm really hoping the cam belt isn't affected and we can have a working car again!

It's not a huge deal not to have a car round here, it's just inconvenient. We're in Hamworthy in Poole (over the lifting bridge from Poole quay = Hamworthy). J's school is about a mile away and we walk every day anyway, so that's not a problem. We have a lidl in walking distance and can get A$da/Te$co deliveries too, and there's a small co-op on the way home from school and a corner shop 30 seconds from our front door if we get really desperate.

It's more annoying because I can't get to the babies & toddler group I take S to in Branksome without getting 2 different busses and it taking an hour to get there instead of the 20 mins it takes to drive. Also My maternity leave finishes in 2 1/2 weeks and I need to drive there :(

OH has a 2 seater for escort van so he's using that to get to work and I'll have to use it when I go back too, but I swear I'm cursed when it comes to that van. Whenever I drive it something goes wrong! I'm dreading having to drive it to work and the posibility of getting stuck or having to call out RAC or something :/

If we need a new car I have no idea what we'll do as we only have about £300 saved in our new car fund at the moment - enough to fix the alternator & belt but not enough for a new car :(

    xx

    Hi hun,

I will keep my fingers crossed that it is an easy fix. When is hubby having a look at it?.

We are the same, I have not a clue what will happen is our car dies anytime in the next two year. I refuse to get any credit and I probably couldn't get any anyway :o

Sending positive car fixing vibes :D

Thank you, He's looking at in on Saturday when he's got the day off work. I've got everything crossed!

Well done on getting your son out on his bike :) I hope the rain today doesn't stop you getting out and about. It's a shame your journey to school isn't safe enough to walk otherwise that would be a good bit of exercise to do xx

I would like to congratulate you on your little job. I hope that you manage to get a few more coming your way.

This is just an idea re what you do with this extra money. How do you feel about locking it away till you have say £100. Then use half to pay extra to your highest debt and the other half treat you and hubby to a treat, say a date night etc.

I think that it is important that you don't use the money for your every day living in case the jobs dry up.

Please do not think I am judging you in how you manage your money. I think you are a very wise young lady and you deserve to have a happy life with your lovely family. :A

    Afternoon all,

Been a very domestic day today. I have been hovering and dusting, washing machine on. Dd's bedroom tidied all with my headphones on listening to Dave Ramseys Podcast :T.

Feels good to have the house under control, I just need to keep at it now so that it doesn't slip back to a mess. I have a bad habit of thinking "Phew its all done". Then doing nothing on it for a week and I am surprised how it is a dump again. Duh!!!

Not much else to report. Hubby is driving me nuts at the moment. He thought he had fixed his Playstation but apparently it now switches itself off after 15 minutes .
I myself am quite glad his PS3 isn't working as he just sits there shouting at the injustices of the game anyway and it drives me crazy.

Anyway, he has been watching countless 2nd hand PS3's on Ebay and he found one last night advertised for £99 or Best Offer. I told him that we can't really afford one at all, as we are trying to get him booked in for his op.
Do you know what he said to that!?. " I would rather leave the op for another month or so and get the a playstation!!!". AAARGGGHHHHHH

I feel like ringing up his precious mates and telling them not to get on at me about his operation, when he would rather forgo it for a bloomin games machine .

I then told him to do a Best Offer of £80 and I would try to find it. He then got snarky when his offer was declined and someone else bought it for £99. He said we should have just done "Buy it now", to which I replied. Buy it now with WHAT exactly!!!. We do not have a spare £99 at the moment.

I am so annoyed with him right now. I am just going to ignore his comments about what he is watching on Ebay. He won't have the guts to bid on it himself as he is always looking to me for the go ahead and I won't be bullied into it.

It actually makes me really mad, as I pretty much got 100% blamed for our financial mess because I am the one controlling it. But this scenario just proves that I am often pushed into saying Yes to purchases we can't afford. but then in the future when we are in financial trouble, because I am the one that TOLD HIM HE COULD HAVE IT, he assumed we were fine. GRrrrrrrr

Ok I feel abit better now :rotfl:

Thanks Kelpie for your suggestion re the cleaning money. that is a good idea. Will definitely keep it hidden from hubby otherwise he will buy a PS3 with it ;)
  • Morning,

Not a whole lot to report today.

Poor ds was in tears last night as a few boys have been ganging up on him at school again. unfortunately it seems to also be the boy we give lifts to school and back again.
I spoke to the head teacher this morning asking her to keep an eye on things today, I wanted to make sure she was aware of it.

Honestly we haven't even finished the first week back and its already started again..

I have got a treatment to do this afternoon at 2pm, but otherwise not a lot on. I have asked my friend (parent of the boy we take to school) if she is free for a coffee today, I am just waiting for a text back. I was planning on gently asking her if her son had said anything to her about school this week, and carefully broach the subject of them not getting along much at the moment. Tricky one but I was hoping to nip it in the bud by letting his mum know. Of course I only have my sons side of the story as well, so he may not be totally blameless.

Not much to report financially, just waiting for hubby to get paid tomorrow, but think most of this weeks wages will be direct debits and putting money back to cover the mortgage.

    Hope you are all well.xxxx

    Thanks Dawn

Ds had a better day on Friday after my friend spoke to her son about it. She didn't really admit to her son doing anything in the wrong, but then I knew she wouldn't, but it seems just him being aware that his mum knows calmed it all down on Friday.

Ds came home really pleased, because apparently the boy told him that he is his friend, but in school he will act like he isn't, but will find out what the other boys are saying and keep him informed.. I wasn't happy about that at all as it seems like the boy will be having his cake and eating it, but as long as Ds seems happy with this set up then I will wait to see if it settles things down. I told Ds to tell me if this boy is openly nasty to him as school as I will not tolerate him being nasty at school then really nice to him on the car journeys!! :(.

I don't think ds makes things very easy for himself though as he is hanging around with another boy that is abit of a loner.

Somehow I do feel that Ds needs to find his way with this and it isn't overly something I can control.

So frustrating being a parent :(

Sorry my diary has been one long moan after another lately.
I will try to have a more up beat week next week.

    xxx
