  • Hi lhead,

What a nightmare!!. I hate the worry that Childrens Tax Credit or someone might suddenly want their money back. How come they want all of that back?. Have you suddenly got more money coming in?. Got to be careful sometimes that the loss isn't more than you gain.

Don't let this set back stop you from going for your goals. Hopefully you can pay it back in instalments so you don't feel it too badly.

Well done on paying off the credit card. You will get there xx

    xxxx

Yeah they've agreed to £22 every 2 weeks (their minimum payment)....which will take a year and a half to pay off! So I'm hoping we will be able to pay it off sooner with the money we would have been using for the credit card.

We owe them so much because OH started working and I waited a month before telling them so that we wouldn't be out of pocket when they stopped the money. They normally stop it as soon as you tell them....however a few weeks later we still hadn't got a letter from them to acknowledge the change. I phoned them up and told them I didn't want any more money as I didn't think we were eligible any more (I was right) and surprise surprise the letter came through 2 days later saying we owed them. They said they had a 4 week backlog of change in circumstances forms to get through! If I hadn't phoned it could have been a lot more that we would owe them.

I knew we had more money than we needed because I use YNAB and after chatting to OH we decided that the best thing to do was use the extra money to pay off the credit card, as the credit card would charge interest and the housing benefit won't :) so we save ourselves a bit of money in the long run.

Just got to make sure I include it in my snowball when I re-do it. Though at 0% interest it's the best 'loan' I've ever had! lol

    xx

  • Hi lhead,

That worked out quite well in the end then. An interest free loan from the Housing Benefit :T. Like you said, once you sort out a few more things you could probably pay them off a lot quicker. Nice them not needing a larger amount or that could really mess up the plans.

These things are sent to try us. but you got lemons and made lemonade. Love it x :rotfl:

    Morning all,

Feeling quite energised and optimistic today. :j. Been feeling quite anxious again lately and my head has been really busy, which is what put me on the anti-anxiety tablets last time. I just couldn't stand to be inside my head anymore. I was abit worried I was going down hill again, but I have made a few changes and recognised a couple of things that wasn't helping the situation and I feel a lot better today.
Think I have gotten through the withdrawal period from the caffeine and come out the other side, I have also decided to distance myself from the "School Gate Politics". My children's school is lovely, but more childish behaviour goes on outside with the parents than what goes on inside with the children!.

There is two groups and I get on with people in both sides, but have been feeling increasing pressure to be on one side or the other. So I have opted for no side at all. I have enough friends away from school to not need to be drawn into the nastiness and constant !!!!!ing.
With that all going on and high on caffeine, I thought my head would explode. but feel like I have turned a corner now. :T

Got paid £60 from the Spa this morning so have paid that immediately off against Littlewoods. I am over the 1k payments for this month :T.

I had abit of good news yesterday. On Wednesday I treated a lady at the spa who seemed abit low and down and didn't seem to be enjoying her stay. My treatment was Reflexology. During the treatment I found sensitivities in certain areas and I explain what areas of the body they related to and she explained that yes she does have problems in that area etc. Because she seemed sad and she had no other treatments that day, I went over the time by 10 minutes and re-treated some of the problem areas.

Well later on that evening the boss of the Spa text me and said that she had really cheered up over dinner and was telling him that Reflexology is now her favourite treatment and how great I was to give her extra time. :T:j:beer:.

Feel so pleased, please because it cheered her up, but especially pleased that I have had a good review from a client so the boss might feel more inclined to pass work my way ...Yay

Hoping over this weekend to make my last of the months debt payments.

    £40 Co-0p
    £150 Mr T cc
    £200 V1rgin cc

Phew. Unless I get any more treatments or hubby gets unexpected money that will be us for the month.

Been a good month though, with probably in the region of £1400 paid off the debt.

Got to make some bunting for a friend today, so will sign off for now. Its raining in Dorset, hope its dry with you. xxx

  • Hi Steph,

Know I haven't dropped by for some time so have been catching up on what you've been up to. Wow your debt busting is AMAZING!!!!! Well done.

I adore reflexology - I have a session every fortnight to keep me on track when I am studying and working at the same time. It is amazing and is definitely keeping me on track.

Congratulations on all of the hard work. Have a great weekend
