Hi Tootallulah,
I think you are right, that I will probably have to wait until the New Year to afford any new training, not only that but it is three days in a row that I will be driving to Exmouth and back, so a lot of fuel money and also need friends to help collect & take kids to school. Think life is a little too busy atm to fit that in before Christmas.
Thanks for your kind words. I must admit to fixating about things sometimes, and if I can keep my motivation going then alls good. trouble with me is I get bored REALLY quickly, and that is why I have failed in the past.
Posting here daily, listening to Dave Ramsey and doing YNAB seem to be keeping me enthused enough to keep going. Good combination for me I think xxI was thinking the same ad DFW when I read that your hubby's work can get a bit slow around Christmas. Brilliant suggestion
You could think of it as the start of a YNAB buffer?
I must say reading about all your treatments makes me want to visit your spa and get pamperedOH gives amazing massages but hates doing it
I've persuaded him twice in 9 years
We had a lovely family day out yesterday - we went to Swanage to let J see the steam trains and Corfe Castle out the window. We even got lunch while we were out and only spent £20 plus a bit of dieselso that was well within budget
Hope you have a productive week. J is on increasing days at school from 1/2 day today to full day on fridayI'm liking the extra time I have to spend with S and I actually have time to clean the house!

Hi lhead
Good idea about the YNAB buffer, hopefully his work will keep coming in and I can have the luxury of deciding what to do with the saved money in the new year.
Sounds like you had a lovely day watching the trains. My son used to love watching trains when he was little. Well done on keeping it nice and cheap too xxxdebtfreewannabe321 wrote: »I had a hot stone massage at the local college it was brilliant and something i'd have done regularly if I wasn't saving money and on a tight budget! They also used a slow cooker to heat their stones and as it's a college i'm assuming it's ok to do so! I would think favourably on adding skills to the ones you already have. It may mean you could eventually start up your own business in a spare room. With a number of treatments available you could put together some sort of pamper package?! Have you tried grounding yourself before and after a treatment. We were taught to do this with our reiki and i'm assuming it would be of benefit to anyone doing regular holistic treatments. You've really got me thinking seriously about doing the indian head massage now too. It's something I always fancied but hearing that they are becoming more popular means I might make some money from it (I initially was going to do the course around 10 years ago but decided against it) I'm very rusty on the reiki though so perhaps I should brush up on that first
I hope you have a lovely day!
Hi DFW,
Yes I think I am slightly neglecting myself whilst I do the treatments. At the Spa the chair I do the Indian Head Massage in is way too low and it kills my back. I need to have a think about maybe keeping a look out for a better chair and taking it over there. I have looked at the fancy Indian Head Massage chairs which are tempting but its another £70+ which I just can't afford atm.
You really ought to get your Reiki going again and also training in the IHM. I trained in the Reflexology in 2006, but its amazing after abit of practice on friends and family it all came flooding back.
I have just been online and created a business logo and ordered some business cards. I plan to put a few cheap adverts out and hope I can generate some private clients too.
Believe it or not, I went to college as a teenager and trained in beauty but dropped out before the end of the course. It makes me really mad now because its such a flexible career that can be worked around a family etc. Wish I had finished it and kept it up. Oh well can't turn back time.
Go for it xxx0 -
Ahh snap I also did hair & beauty at college! I finished (one week overdue with my ds1! Thankfully he waited lol) but I didn't do much with it afterwards unfortunately. Life got in the way and I took a higher paying job doing something completely different. I wish I had stuck it out now as I loved it. I've also got my aromatherapy diploma but it really has been so long I think I would have to go back and do a refresher of some sort

Hi Steph
Just catching back after being away, had a great but very tiring week in York, full on tourist stuff, cream crackered but enjoyed it.
DFW is a canny lady, great suggestion, may save you from an awful lot of stress and if the work situation stays good you will have the satisfaction of paying off a good chunk in one go.
Yay to 86% too:j:j:j:j

I looked on line and our local beauty shop charge £48, presume a spa will be much more, have you any idea of how much you would make and how often they think you would be utilised ?. Can you not do a. Massage course at night school ?Sealed pot challenge 822

Morning DFW
I wonder if you still have all your study notes etc? I bet with your study notes and willing hubby you could get practising.
Would probably be able to pick it all up again. At least you got the Diplomas etc.

Morning all,
I had a little chat with hubby last night but we ended up arguing .
He seems to value my time spent here doing jobs higher than me earning some money .
When I mentioned doing another course, he started moaning that it would turn into me out working too much and the house and land getting abandoned. In fairness to him we have more work on this 6.5 acre plot than I could ever get done all by myself, so he has a point. But gardening doesn't pay off the debt does it!!.
I tried to explain that if I did this day course in Hot Stone Massage, then that would be another booking I was available to for the spa, and maybe instead of doing three treatments a week I might get 5. That's still only 5 hours out of my week!.
Think I must have caught him at a bad moment. He start spouting off about my abandoned sewing business. But he just doesn't get that I did no financial outlay for that sewing, I tried it, it made no money, so I moved on to something more profitable. He see's it as me flitting around. Men!!!
So looks like I am shelving the extra training for at least until the New Year.
Having more troubles up at the school as well.
My Dd is great friends with a girl at school, whose mother is quite tricky to get on with. She is the type that is forever looking for the negative in people and then stirs up trouble.
During most of this year, I have avoided speaking to the mother and Dd has not had any meet-ups or sleepovers with her friends.
Coming back to school this September, I decided to just speak to everyone and be nice and see how it goes.
So I got to speaking again with this woman, and her daughter ended up going on a cinema trip and sleepover at our last weekend. She is a lovely girl, no bother and the girls playing brilliantly together.
But then there's the mum!!!.
Not many people like her in school, she has a small click of friends she talks to but not many.
Well Ds had football practice last night after school, so as I had to pick up Dd I sat and watched the match with a couple of other mothers.
I vaguely remember seeing this woman arrive near the end but Ds decided to leave all his school uniform etc scattered over the boys toilets, so at the end I was dashing around trying to get him sorted out. It was quite chaotic as we had to be out again at 6.30pm for a meeting about a school trip, so I was in a rush to get home and dinner done.
Anyway....Last night I flicked through my phone and looked on F2cebook (Evil F2cebook).
On there was a status saying
I don't know, it really comes to something when your 7year old sobs before bed because a grown up woman glares at her....
I read all the comments below, not thinking anything of it, and then saw another comment from her saying:
"Poor Dd, and she had such a lovely weekend as well. Really cross."
So I don't know about you guys, but that makes me feel like that status was aimed at me!!.
I didn't even see her daughter at football, all I can think that in my rushing around, her daughter may have looked at me, and I didn't notice and she took that as a rebuff.
Aaaarrrggghhh. I text the woman this morning saying
"Just seen your FB status. I assume you were not meaning me in your status as I don't recall even seeing your Dd at football."
I probably should not have even stooped to her level, but it so annoys me when people post FB comments and don't just text the person.
Anyway, she hasn't replied so we will see. This is the reason why I didn't speak to the woman for 6 months, and two weeks in I am already regretting it. So pathetic.
oh well signing off now0 -

What a stupid women, as you have said not many people like her so I wouldn't worry about it, just avoid her.
It gets much easier when they get to secondary and you don't need to mix with parents.0 -
Hi all,
Sorry about my morning rambles. Turns out my paranoia has reached new highs, as it was not about me after all. It was about a friend of mine.
I am purposely avoiding getting to school too early so I am not drawn into conversations outside school. All just too exhausting.
Nothing financial to report today. Ds has gone off to Netball practice and hubby is off out to skittles tonight. Looking forward to a quiet sit down with a naughty box of Mint Stick things for company.
Pity its not Wednesday night, I could watch The Great British Bake off then. xxx0 -
Glad it wasn't about you, but the stupid women was still b!tching about someone for all to see, I really hate that.
I love wednesday nights, bake off followed by Scott and bailey.0
