Steph you continue to be inspirational, you're working so hard at this and wow what a difference it's making. That Next bill will be gone soon enough especially with the spa treatments, then the snowball impact will really kick in. What will go next?
Thank you so much mfmaybe, not sure about inspirational but I certainly am always trying. not perfect, I often waste money, mostly in food shops, but at least now i am constantly aware of where the money is going, and definitely guilt trip myself if I over-spend on a category.
What I think is different now, is I am ALWAYS looking for ways to either earn money or save money.
I over heard my friend talking about needing to get rid of her sofa last night, (they are moving house), we popped round to look this afternoon and now have a new sofa, side table and single bed. ALL for free :T.
I am going to get them a £50 gift voucher for somewhere like John Lewis to spend on stuff for their new home as a thank you, but the sofa we now have is an amazing corner sofa and two seater that looks and feels virtually brand new. Such a bargain!!.
The old me would have been too proud or shy to speak up and ask if we could have the sofa, now the new me dives in for it :rotfl:.
We will put our old sofa onto Freecycle and this will hopefully help a family get a fairly decent leather sofa to start them off.
So all in all a very good weekend.0 -
Forgot to answer your question mfmaybe, about what debt was next.
Think I will tackle Littlewoods next. They insist in a high monthly payment of a minimum of £184, and constantly send me letters wanting higher payments, whereas the Co-op cc which was going to be my next target only want a small £30 pm minimum payment.
I will get Littlewoods off my back, I will pay them off next (with pleasure) and then hit the co-op cc debt.
CAN'T WAIT!!!!0 -

Morning all,
Thank you so much Buffy and Sweetpea. Do seem to be having a run of luck lately, i will enjoy the ride while it lasts.
Hubby has done some extra work lately that adds up to about £280. I am hoping to pay that against the Nxt debt too. I do have a slight spanner in the works with my car, which needs a new rear brake caliper. This caliper is about £120 BUT I do have £300 in the Vehicles fund so I suppose it should be paid for out of there.
Its weird when you start saving, you really don't want to spend it, even when it is on the reason why you were saving in the first place :rotfl:.
So £280 (hubbys pay) + £122 (my work) = £402 :T.
£669 left to pay - £402 = £267Sooo close to getting rid of the Nxt debt.
Maybe I can make it my September Mini Goal to pay off the last of it.
I have felt like my debt payment progress has stalled in the last month or so, but we are now getting somewhere.
i am hoping to pay off Next, Littlewoods & the Co-op card this year and then just be left with the overdraft and my two big credit cards (Mr T & V1rgin).
If I manage this I will have reduced my debts from 8 down to 3 by January 2015 :T.
Got to keep going.
Hope you are all enjoying a relaxing Bank holiday. xxx0 -
Hi all,
Been a quiet day at home today.
Had lots of stuff to put in the attic and hoovering to get done.
Got lots done, just have to get dinner ready soon, Going to use the last bit of cooked gammon ham up as Ham, egg & chips tonight.
Still waiting for hubby to get paid, so i can pay the mortgage this month. I am constantly tired of waiting for people to pay hubbys invoices. Also a little frustrated that the Spa didnt pay what they owed me before they went on holiday, so may not get that money into ther bank before the end of the month.
Oh well, will get it eventually i guess.
Planning on going into town tomorrow morning to get the bare essentails of school uniform that the children need. I can't put it off any longer and am getting slightly nervous about there not being enough chpices left in the shops.
Not much else to report today, kids have been a little stir crazy what with the constant rain today but we have made it through all alive
Hope you have all had a good Tuesday0 -

Hi wantabetterlife,
Dinner was fine, a few grumbles from kids about ham three days running, but tough, I wanted to make sure I used it all up.
Just sorted out school uniforms and shoes today. The school shoes you gifted fit perfectly, I am sooo thankful for that xx.
PE bags are now packed, a step forward toward peace and quiet:o

Hi all
Little update.
Hubby got paid this morning so I paid it all straight off onto the mortgage. Annoying but obviously glad to get it paid.
On another slightly annoying note, the Spa paid me today but have missed off a £35 treatment . I am going to have to write down all the dates of treatments I have done in relation to their payments and speak to them when they get back from this weeks holiday. I got paid £87.50, but I was expecting £122.50.
Oh well, it will have to wait. In the meantime I have paid the £87.50 straight off the Next debt, didn't want to hesitate with it otherwise it would just get absorbed into my regular finances.
Fingers crossed when I get paid next they will add in that missing £35 and I can paid it against Next in September.
