Oooo headhunted! get you! Still flattering and serves as a confidence boost even if the role isn't suitable. How's AAT going? I'm a CIMA gal and so sort've understand but not really.
Sorry to hear about your colleague. One of my best friends attempted suicide when he really wasn't very well. We had watched him 24/7 in the run up but if some one wants to do it then they will. Nothing individually contributed to his illness - he was just in a very dark place. Anyway i'm trying to say don't dwell on what you did/didn't do.
ETA: (cross posted) good luck for your exam!:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:

Oh! I had replied to you Jonesy I swear!
Take two:
It is so cool to be headhunted, when I got the email I was all a flutter. Thank you for the luck, it should be fine, it's the easiest exam of them all (by definition- test 1 of 5 for this level).
Are you qualified or training? I was looking into doing it but I have to fund it myself and couldn't quite afford it.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend, I hope he didn't succeed and is better now.

I'm looking into ISAs, I can get instant access ISA for 2.5% or go for a fixed one for a longer time. But I think that fixing my savings interest would be silly as I would hope that interest rates would go up in the next 3 years. This would benefit me two fold, my savings should get a helping hand and people would be discouraged from house buying. I don't want anything big and fancy but a two bed flat near me is nearly £300k... Eep.
I'm watching rubbish TV again, this woman has bought herself FOUR wedding dresses! Four! For the one wedding! The last one she bought was $3000, mental!
Oh and I miscalculated my left over cash, it's actually more like £19 because my phone bill went out. I changed where the DD comes from to qualify for the Halifax reward... Damn.0 -
£300k?! eek  We're moving house this year to a new build 3 bed semi for £144k. I'm grateful to live in an area with cheap houses, although wages etc tend to be cheaper too. For me its cheaper to buy than rent.
CIMA wise, i'm about 70% through my exams. I was on a grad scheme, moved jobs and the studying fell through so had an enforced break. Now i'm back in the saddle with my new job supporting me for my next set of exams in the autumn.
My friend is now back to his old self
BTW i love looking into bank accounts etc to make money from money - it's so satisfying!:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:

I would love a house! 3 bed would be amazing but I'd be happy with two. How exciting, have you started looking or is this something in the pipeline?
I look all the time. I found one I can afford right now! It's a corridor. :rotfl: It's 2 meters across and half of that is slated roof and 5 meters long and that is it. 65k. Not kidding. I'm not even in London!
Ooh, that's so cool. How'd you get your job to support you or was it always part of the role? Well done on getting this far regardless
I couldn't get onto a grad scheme, despite a 2;1 in economics... because I was put into a foundation English paper when I was 16!
It's really addictive. I lectured a friend of mine's friend and he thanked me the other day because he actually opened up a couple of the higher paying current accounts. Not going to lie, I felt pretty smug. lol. Still need to sort out my savings though, about 4k is not working for me.0 -

I cant believe how expensive houses are near you! There's an end of terrace house for sale at the end of my street, 2 bed, living room, dining room, recently renovated so brand new kitchen and bathroom and its quite big for a terrace and thats only £45k!0 -

 £45k? I don't understand! This is a high end doll's house right? :rotfl: I'd actually be able to afford that!
My deposit aim is actually £60k so I'd actually be able to buy that outright with spare cash.
But that's a long way into the future. At the right I'm going it should be about 5 years which will bring me to 29. It hopefully will also be in time for the next housing crash.
So AAT test went well, I got the top grade (exceeded) for every question. Woo! But it cost £7.50 just to travel about that day. That's on top of the £50 it cost to take the damn test.
I also had an assessment for a job... it didn't go well. But ho hum. It's not really what I wanted to go into. Already applying to other jobs at present so boo you job.
It was pay day yesterday! Best day of the month! My savings are sitting just above £15k and I stayed in budget last month! Just! Hopefully will this month, will do my best.
Looking into investment opportunities. At the moment, looking at buy to lets which seem like they might not be worth the effort at the moment.0 -
Hi KP,
Just found your diary - subscribed! I also can't believe the cost of houses there, but it sounds like you've got a good plan for the future. It'll be worth it in the end, I'm sure.
The thought of a 60K deposit gives me chills....ours was about £15,000 and took nearly 2 years to save for; the fees were also about another 3 thousand though so 'luckily' the vendors dragged their feet for 5mths which allowed us to save more (we definitely found our dream house too early, but are making it work, lol...)
Good luck with your plans.
I also wanted to say that, as someone who has poor health myself, I admire your determination and focus, and I'm sorry that some days are so difficult. Sending lots of hugs.

Hello giblet and lily! Lovely to see you guys here.
It's great to hear that your house buying worked out for the best giblet, it sounds absolutely terrifying with all honesty, so much debt! Such a long commitment!
I think some people are natural savers lily, I have to say I would never have been able to save this much if my mum wasn't so generous. She taught us kids about money so I really had a big advantage on people who didn't have that financial education.

I've been so busy with work recently, I was at a show this week... I got a lot of free pens! When go to these things and not get useful products right? I also got a yoyo... and a yoyo-ing lesson... then hurt myself promptly. :rotfl: I used the thermacare heat packs to limit the damage to my neck and back, then wore boots to stop my ankles giving out. I just wish the heat packs weren't so expensive. I bulk bought some (with cashback) a while ago but they're still over £1 each.
Moneywise, this month is a total write off, I have not gone over my budget yet but am damn close to it and with 8 days to go it's going to be smashed. However! I had a lot of fun doing it.
Additionally, I have gotten myself stationary (in addition to the free pens) which were all about 30% off with cashback. This will be useful with the courses I am on.
In terms of courses, currently I am registered on three! One was included in AAT, one is actually AAT and the third was £160 worth of excel course for £20. Boom! I need to get them done! My next exam is in 10 days time (I think) so I need to revise.
I'm also going to investigate investing much more seriously now as I want to get a better return on my money which isn't doing a lot.
Also job hunt is going ahead but not going great.
Toodles.0 -
Hope revision goes well and good luck with the exam! X:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:
