I don't have much advice, I need some myself. But I do know that long after you are gone people will forget what you did or didn't do (unless its disastrous of course) but they will always remember you and how you treat them. Wherever I've been people are always happy to have me back - I guess that's because they know I always try my hardest, but I need to do that not at my own expense. Sorry, I've not really helped, but basically if there's a choice of giving time to someone or a non-essential task not getting done, the task will not get done. :rotfl:OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Your opinions of how you should behave is really interesting and I think that is something I would have liked to have heard at the beginning of me starting work. I don't know if I act the same as that, I like to think that I am amiable and helpful but I am not sure I am that pleasant. I do get irritated if I think someone can do something and then they just refuse to do it. I need to hold in my irritation, it is a big flaw.
Oh I've had a saga today. Boyfriend lost his debit card and had to collect his train ticket and go up north today, he was told there was no way that he could collect his ticket without his card. We were supposed to meet this morning anyway, the machine was broken. Went away, came back, waited for a thousand billion years, got a card printed. Not the right card. The machine broke away. Had to get back into a queue for him to get his money out. Went to the train station, explained about losing his card expecting that a refund was the best we could hope for... He was like no bother, I'll override that section. :rotfl: It was such a romantic date. :rotfl:
So, money wise... I've been bad. The thing is I've been in a lot of pain. I haven't been able to take my usual heavy duty meds as I need to concentrate, I am on them today but I feel so horrible. It's really difficult, how do people cope? I constantly feel sick, it's just yuck. I have no other way of explaining it.
BUT!
I tried to work through the pain today, I started listening to the MK book while ironing and cleaning. My room is a wreck but I'm pleased, I ironed about a week's worth of clothing, folded clothes, change my bed (apart from the sheet, I will need help with this tomorrow), got rid of my old pillows and the new pillows are LOVELY. Debenhams is having/had a sale that is brilliant, hypoallergenic (is that the right word?), 2 for £20 and is probably the nicest pillow I've ever had. It came with a fabric casing which I will use to store my blankets I think... if I ever get them back from my sister..
Driving is going ok.. ish. o.O
New job is going ok I think. I guess you'd need to ask my colleagues.
I caught my own (big) mistake yesterday which I'm really pleased about because I have started to learn about what I should be expecting.
I have been investigating this HSBC thing, I'm a bit annoyed about the switching thing. I have been asked for 3 months statements, is this normal??0 -
JOY! My uncle took some of my rubbish from my room which was always annoying me. It was thin and tall, it was making my pile of things to get rid of look even taller.
I have been listening to the KM book audio (sorry marie but you have enough of an income) and it is definitely... interesting. I am taking it one hour at a time because it's a bit grating for me. I feel a bit like a naughty schoolchild lol.
Money
I've decided it's been too long since talking about my financial goals, this is afterall a money saving diary.
So my investment has finally started to build on itself instead of throwing its paddy and losing what it has earnt. This month, I plan to funnel my savings into my investment, if it is below £500 then I will funnel next month's savings into it.
Target for investments to hit £30k in investments by 30.
Deposit fund sits at £21ish (including cash ISAs), aim by 30 is £60k.
Are these two targets compatible? Debatable. This would involve accumulating over £1k a month, impossible on my current salary but with potential payrises...
Plus compounding. 0 -
Killer peaty, you really are Miss Moneybags. Well done, it's great to read about your success with money. I was just watching Dragons Den and one punter had retired with around £5 million squid but lost almost all of it. I said to DH that at least he wasn't that bad :rotfl::rotfl:
Glad to see that kondoing is happening. I love it, can't think why it never occurred to me before
Hope you had a great weekend

Hows the KM going? I looked into it a while back but couldn't be bothered and justified it to myself that I dislike clutter anyway.
Yay to catching your mistake - i say to our newbies that mistakes are there to test our controls

 That money is everything I have.
I have no car, no house, no pension. I look at houses and flats around me and they're getting more out of reach eek.
How do you spend enough to get through 5 mill??
Kondoing is pretty good for me jonesy, I feel better about throwing things away, like the mini kettle I was given for a christmas. We used it briefly but it took an age to boil a tiny amount, but I kept it because it might be useful. To be honest, it was never very useful. :rotfl: But this might be natural for you, I don't know. Some bits I don't like, there's a bit of gift shaming that goes on which saddens me because I buy gifts for my friends as a show of my love, not to make them resent me.I keep presents for the time that they are joyous and then they go. I have a problem with candles, I don't use them but receive them, I feel like I should use them...
I HAVE BEEN NAUGHTY! I have bought myself a teeny weeny laptop. It's like 8 inches big :rotfl: I now spend 45 minutes a day on the train without a social group, it's impossible to study with the notebook I currently do so MINI laptop.
It converts to a tablet too.. but it's my mini laptop. So mini and cute.
Reading a new book- how to become rich, so far it's amazing silly.0 -
Hi Peaty
Glad to see that you still have your savings and that your new job is going well.
I've finished the course I was doing and thinking about another!

What course are you thinking of doing? Did you enjoy the other? They're not accredited but the OU seems to have a few really interesting free courses http://www.open.edu/openlearn/free-courses
My learning provider is messing me about, now I have to wait for a month for my next exam. Having spent over £1000 on this course, I expect better service than to have to spend an entire week trying to book a smegging exam. Being sent multiple times to other email addresses and being asked to fill out the same damn form out multiple times.0 -
I love mini things! OH is always moaning at me for buying cute little things instead of their adult sized counterparts.
Boo to the exam provider - do you have to take the exam with them? it is because it's the summer holidays?:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:

It's not due to the holidays because it's bpp, they're just being a pain. Most of the time they're alright but sometimes they're a real pain.
What are your mini things jonesy? I have a bit of a thing for mini foods...
Good news, my mini laptop is pretty great. I'm on my main one at the moment, I'm trying to keep the mentality that my mini one is for work only. It IS possible to study on the train and it is joyous to have that time back. I now will be able to study nearly 2 hours a day without impacting on my "free" time.
Got my first paycheck, it's not the worst but still a bit gutting. I'll get used to it.
Been clearing my stuff up today, so much stuff has been sorted, folded and put away. Problem is, I can't bend down so the floor is a mess!
Finished the get rich book, some of it was interesting. Like when you have a business and you had gotten it to be a success this is the time to start a new business so you have a new basket for your eggs. Didn't realise it would be so soon..
Funneled some cash from my pay into my investment pot, I want to add 1k (above my £100 a month) into it per £5k I save for the deposit. I like to think this is the right balance of medium and long term targets but I'm not sure it is.
Also been thinking about my risk profile and I think it is a bit low for what I want to achieve in life. I'm thinking I don't have enough strings to my bow, income from job, savings interest and then investments. When I am more qualified I could potentially freelance but then I don't want to work more longterm.0
