Hey Peaty, haven't seen you about for a bit, saying that I've been awol myself!

Hi Ali and KD. How are you?
Sorry to hear that you had to pull out of AAT Ali, maybe you could start another year?
About to spend between £60 and £90 on shoe racks, you think I'm mad? These shoe racks are wooden with a lattice design, they stack so they look like backless book shelves. I got one for my birthday and it's really nice, hence why I want to get more.
Work is still meh but whose work isn't?
Spent today and yesterday cleaning
Today with the boyfriend, apparently he finds it therapeutic... weirdo! But did get a lot of cleaning done! He's going to make my chest of drawers next week.
Spent money on dessert yesterday, we went to a dessert bar, it was yummy but probably not worth the expense. Or the calories.
So I've hit 25.. I've been thinking about what I've accomplished, it's not much but I have a list:- Finished education up to degree level and got a pretty damn good degree
- Started AAT
- Saved money, enough for a small deposit
- Started investing
- Work full time (despite being told I probably shouldn't)
- Getting better with my meds

I am dissatisfied with this, but I will work on this list for when I'm 50...0 -
Guess who is chirpy today!
Super productive, managed to get myself two more shoe racks, they look so good! They're already built and stacked so that's no longer a chore to do. It's a thing!
Finally got into the iffy looking corner. It's been sprayed with the more lethal spray I have and now it's stewing.
My sister has saved nearly enough for a (small secondhand) car, so proud of her! She's only on part time and just above minimum wage. She knows that I have always intended to gift her some money and loan her the rest. She wants to pay interest on it, I don't want her to... I get enough interest.
Not hearing much back from employers, accounts is either difficult to get into or I need to change tact! I plan to do some more research.
Watching Benefits Britain (channel 5) and my god, it's just fabulous! So aggravating! Like that lady who claimed she was so fat because she can't afford to eat right (despite spending £35 a week on cigs). :rotfl:0 -
Hey you.
Happy Birthday for whenever it was. You sneaky thing..
- hope you had an awesome time.
Dessert bar sounds.. amazing. have been trying to convince Jelly she feels well enough to come to wetherspoons with mummy for steak tues but she is having none of it (aka is fast asleep and mummy wouldn't do that to her!)
Bless your Sister, that is amazing news! Obviously runs in the family. You are a lovely sister
Accounts is difficult to get into, unless you fall into it like me and aren't properly qualified. But I would love to do the exams and move into doing it full time. Apparently though I seem to have a knack for dealing with the corporate work at my offices, which is not even vaguely to do with accounts and more group pensions, auto enrolment, death in service, private medical insurance, cash plans.. I quite enjoy it but it is time consuming and leaves little time for anything else. I am sure you will find somewhere soon!!
Benefits Britain.. I couldn't watch that I don't think. things that aggravate on that level really drive me mad
I am so weak I get stressed watching! Especially as I have cut down the amount of meat I buy. moved more heavily to lentils and veggies and its cheaper than ever! Far more expensive to buy a pack of frozen chips than to buy a huge sack of potatoes and make your own. They just can't be bothered!
Shoe racks... I have this one gifted to me by my lovely last landlady. It is rather awesome
and have just seen the price!!! :money: what a bargain for me!

Thanks lilt, it was ok. I am not the biggest fan of birthdays (they're not that special when you have to share the celebrations with your sister) but it was nice.
Your shoe rack is pretty awesome, more so for the price! Love having efficient storage.
I have a cold/flu/tonsillitis, I don't know what. It's likely the last, feel quite annoyingly miserable. Went to a show with work, did some networking, collected so many free pens and piggy banks, met a guy who loves MSE and ate a whole bunch of cake.
The annoying thing about being ill is that I'm well enough to be annoyed the mess, too ill to actually move. My hips are killing but cognitively I am ok.
I had thought I had found an interesting website about wealth accumulation, it was pretty dull.
Been thinking about the help to buy ISA and I'm not sure whether it is a good deal or not. That max £3000 bonus is only achievable after about 4-5 years due to the restrictions on this. It is also not included in terms of the interest because it is paid at the purchase of the house so after 5 years of saving the max of £200 a month, you only have £15k for a deposit. How is this going to help me? Especially with a maximum of (outside london) £250k house purchase. The minimum for a house in my village is £300k, if I go to the town then I might be able to get a one bed flat for between £120-200k. Genuinely, in the town I work, there's a garage and only a garage for sale for £125k. Who knows what the situation would be in 5 years time.
Really want my room tidy right now. It's really bothering me. But cannot get up. Urrrrrghhhh0 -
Just thought I'd pop in and say hello as I'm also doing my AAT, or should I say I should have finished but still have one exam to get myself motivated to doJan 2010 - Overdraft £9,500 / Credit Cards £5,000 / Loan £9,500 / Mortgage £128,000

I'm feeling a bit low today, I woke up with a head ache and face ache :rotfl: seriously though my face really aches! Proper fed up as I haven't felt great for about 3 weeks now, what is going on?!

Oh I'm sorry, have you gone to the doctor? I hear that you should go after an extended period of illness.. Sounds glandsy
I'm sorry.
Hi Laura! Which exam have you got left to do? How exciting! Nearly done, are you planning on doing anything after?
So lilt, levi and the gang over at lilt's thread has finally managed to get me to read the kondo thread. Like the efficiency of it but I shouldn't have read it since I can't actually do it.
The boyfriend was supposed to make my chest of drawers this weekend (bless him) so that I could put my clothes in there finally. But then I decided to be too ill for him to come over, new relationship cannot have him seeing me as ill as this. Let's face it, I don't want to be seen as icky by him.
Frustratingly, there are so many things I could be doing:- Cleaning the shower room
- cleaning the bathroom
- sorting through the kitchen stuff under my bed
- sorting through the stuff on top of the wardrobe
- cleaning the windowsil
- Studying
- Changing the bed
- exercising
- Getting rid of those presents I've had for years and don't use...
What am I doing instead? Watching a full trilogy of movies (about 20 minutes left of the last one) and sporadically sleeping. :rotfl:
The good news is that my investment has grown by £550! On £4900, I'm so excited!
Going to do some reading now.0 -
I've just got Financial Statements to go, I already work for a bank so it was more to get an understanding of what the wider team do. I did look at an accountant role but they wanted me to take a pay cut to a starting accountant role - which would be right for my accountancy skills but I don't want to be an accountant badly enough to halve my salary. I've also got some self employed income so it gave me a better understanding to do my own tax return

How are you getting on? Have you got many exams to go?Jan 2010 - Overdraft £9,500 / Credit Cards £5,000 / Loan £9,500 / Mortgage £128,000

Amazing news on the investment. Not so good on the not feeling great and thus no drawers to condo. I warn you it is addictive!

Big hugs xxx
